Lines Composed With Evan

The Staring Contest

He stares
	In the childlike ambivalence
			Of all things,
And I stare,
	In the adult like return
			Of all things,
Sharing in the ambivalence of all things—
This is, of course, but a whisper or
			secret,
			Of what youth brings.
