Inside This Heaven
Lord,
You are
The abacus of time, but
The soul is made of flesh
Do we have each other,
Inside this heaven...

Lion
Lion
Not only king of jungle
But lone like a back bencher
Must find subsitence
Or die like a crow
Lone in wild abacus
Must not show his sorrows
Or other animals will call him weak...

A Sprinkle of Wit
A sprinkle of wit
a dash of gravitas
Not too precise
idle your abacus
A pinch of clarity
to seek the cavity
Where truth seeps in
where daylight dawns...

For the Sea
For The Sea
By Nathan Hannen
There is a sea called joy and light, You let me know Im wrong and right
You live by this ocean of my thoughts, By the abacus bay with rows of noughts
Laughter heard, And laughter said, You are the thoughts in my head
The End....

Fingers and Toes
the numbers
of age have
no meaning
when love is
using an abacus
she is minus
and i am plus
but meaning
nothing in
abstract geometry
to her concave
i'm convex in an
equation that
perhaps suggests
one can digest
the other or the
other the other
so so together
her youthful legs
rub off on me...

Read That Twice
In vast realm between both false realities
efforts of a strained bowel movement collapse
like the arithmetic dreams of abacus beads.
Arthritic persistence contemplates procrastination
while stillborn attempts at cleverness
seem to flicker as defibrillator paddles exchange electrons.
You can’t revive what wasn’t alive.

Befallen Slave
Befallen slave,
la ractera,
the child of night,
corrupt.
Upon whip's handle,
laceration,
feeds the shelves,
the cradle starved.
Cyphera encountus,
abacus is nay appalled
...with corpse's heart;
lest the starving wallet beat.
St. Valentine's anniversary
covertly taints it's favorite treat.
- Is this poem too cryptic??...

Abacus
You can count on me
within a small frame.
As colors have a name,
you can count on me.
You can count on me
with a childlike ease.
By twos or by threes,
You can count on me.
You can count on me.
Take ahold of my beads.
For your counting needs,
you can count on me.
You can count on me
by fives or by tens.
You can count on your friends.
You can count on me....

Evaporation Wow
An abacus arriving ate apples and so articulate were the sonnets delivered. So brave a bead. Pass pass passing. 5million mules delivering bread. Grabbing a gatepost. Steadily surfing a silvery wired wave. Whilst juggling 863 cows. Hahahaha mystified mood swings hahahaha and a peach coloured bucket carrying a ladle. Marketing strategy. 1 2 3 and a curried curriculum climbing. Xxxx evaporation z...

Counting Deer
There are five
perhaps six, maybe more?
There's always the invisible
when observing deer.
A speckled group
braids a tangled grove.
Stippled light shapes,
not their appearance
but their disappearance.
Deeper in the trees
there are mottles and flecks,
a sun-streaked shimmering.
Deer thread leaf and bough,
floating over
pools of light and shade.
I watch
tallying their invisible sum
on a green abacus....

Laura's Fault
What is the age
of reality itself
Older than
a metaphor
Unreferenced
on a shelf
What is the distance
unmeasured from within
Spoken of
but never seen
A poets
dying whim
What is time uncounted
as numbers lose their clout
The hourglass
returned to sand
An abacus
in doubt
What is love ungifted
but feelings’ last excuse
To roam unlinked
between the chains
And blame it
—on the Muse
(Dreamsleep: December, 2023)

Teacher
Teacher
My teacher
When I bow before u I feel --
I bow before my parents
I kneel before God
And your hands like friends
Soon lift me;
So living and so moving a force
Browsing and exploring me
You compute me
I grow like a computer
From abacus to mainframe
To guard
The space, surface and sea
You are indeed
My
Charles Babbage
Without you
I am a body without soul
Like a monitor without CPU
I bow before you
Bow before you infinitely
