We hurried.
Picked the body up.
His shoe fell off.
And we never found it.
Shoelaces.
Laced all the way through.
Over and over.
I shouldn’t have.
Sitting oddly.
Mannequin resting in my mind.
His hat falls off.
Nothing sits right.
I wish we could have left him there.
The ghastly remains.
Like that shoe.
I don’t think it had any blood on it.
There was no blood.
There was no warning.
There was no anger.
There was no shoe.
One shoe was thrown off a cliff.
One we left in the street.
Which did they find?
I guess it doesn’t matter.

Shoelaces
I bet if we
encourage enough shoelaces, they could
learn the science of
land growing, soil management, and
crop production.

Look what you have done to my shoelaces, Fluffy!
Now that's hardly a nice thing to do.
There are things in this world, from a twig to a bone,
that are more admirably suited to chew.
I don't wish to be hypercritical, Fluffy.
You might easily have done something worse,
but there are things in this world, which, not done up,
lead one all too soon to a hearse.

Old age has changed the nature of my chores
replacing doorstops – holding open doors
or when the joy of shopping slowly flags
I stand with other men – just holding bags
We dine – I weigh the cost of cold French fries
and order well done burgers – children’s size
for something’s gone awry within the loop
that schedules when and where I’ll have to poop.
It seems I live a life somehow gone placid
along with once taut muscles now gone flaccid
Yet still I fight the battle – break the rules
for still I feed myself – tie my own shoes.
So if you’re young and strutting through your prime
please, take a hint and cherish all such time
while your on the quest for more and more
take heed for age has a trap door.

That boy with untied shoelaces,
Stumbled and fell, in most of the cases.
Rocks on the road were never a reason.
However it might be,
The unexpected treachery and treason!
The untied laces made him a cynosure.
Too because he was, a part of the annual brochures.
When asked, he would always come up afresh,
With a new excuse.
And when instructed to tie them,
Why would then, he often refuse?
Letting them untied,
The fear of loosening never haunts...
The delicious fruit of freedom,
Oh! Everyone wants...
Often welcoming the expressionless faces,
There he goes on trodding...
That boy with untied shoelaces...!

If shoelaces had faces they would get awful muddy,
a walk at the zoo and they’d turn kinda cruddy.
Shoelaces with faces would probly be sad
if they're walked on a lot they might even get mad!
Faces on shoelaces would see lots of stuff
like puddles and pavement and lots ‘a sock fluff.
If shoelaces had faces they might even talk,
they’d tell you “watch out!” each time you walk.
Shoelaces with faces would be hard to tie,
I’d try to make loops and poke someone’s eye.
If laces had faces they’d be hard to keep safe
I’d tuck ‘em in tight, my shoe's a warm place.
Shoelaces with faces would be hungry too,
but what in the world do you feed to your shoe?
Shoelaces with faces sound like tough work,
good thing God’s graces kept my shoelaces faceless!
