Today the flood gates opened
A strong tide rushed down, coming down
Everything was just swept away
No one left, no one around
It became clear an act of God
See what happens in the Lord's mighty wrath?
He struck down with lightning and with thunder
We prayed that all things would again last

These days I have been indulging myself,
But lurking guilt always dims my joy,
In the rhythm of rushed life,
I even forgot how to write!

I wrote this at the last minute.
You know,
the minute before, I raced out the door.
I scrawled it out until the paper tore.
The thoughts I wanted to convey
about another hurried, scrambled day.
I spilled and splattered it on the page.
I was Jackson Pollock in a frantic rage.
My muddy, muddled words never tired.
My rutty, riddled will never expired.
This scratch was never worth any cash.
This paper crumpled and tossed in the trash.
On second thought, I recovered the script.
The meager text told a tale I never gripped.
I wrote this at the last minute.
You know,
the minute before, I raced out the door.

When something returned home
We were surprised, as we had not realized joy had been missing
She rushed in like a flurry, talking excitedly
Enthusiastic about life, loving college, enjoying people
We had not seen this girl's joy for almost ten years
She had been hiding in a world of gloom
In a bedroom she had painted black, even the ceiling
We were thrilled, when something returned home.

Age rushed in like the waves of an unrelenting sea…
knowing she could not hold back the tide
she welcomed in the ocean
and did her best to enjoy the ride.

I stare at dusk-tinged mountains to the east,
anticipating joyously the rise
of an old friend not pressured in the least
to meet my frantic schedule, I surmise.
I cannot rush the moon, although I reckon
that if I could, I would request she hurried.
Though "miles to go before I sleep" do beckon,
the Empress of the night sky moves unworried.
Some obligations elsewhere do await
my undivided interest to be theirs.
But if I linger for her, I'll be late
provoking shaking heads and unkind stares.
My heart of hearts desires to be unbound
from shackles of these deadlines and constraints;
to bathe in yellow radiance full and round
and gaze in peace at this still life she paints.
Debating thus, she crowns over yon mountains;
entranced under her beauty, I stand hushed.
Her rays are elegant, florescent fountains -
I'm thankful that the moon cannot be rushed.

Stressed Speeding Up and Rushed
Everything is speeding up and everyone is rushed,
Fear of criticisms and opinions from others in case the ego is crushed,
Your boss is always on your case,
His words create emotional haste,
People losing jobs in record numbers this year,
Being poor and homeless is most people’s fear,
Stress hits us from every angle,
Fight against it and create more tangle,
Tensions run high from terrorist attacks,
False flag ops blamed on Iraq,
The stress is so thick you could cut it with a knife,
So much stress has inundated our life,
While at work you are compelled to worry about your spouse,
After all she could be cheating with men in every room in the house,
New diseases are introduced to humans causing pandemics,
Immune systems taxed, I don’t feel good please call a medic,
When you are stressed, depressed with no peace,
The perfect situation to cultivate a dis-ease,
This month is filled with anxiety and sadness,
We are experiencing what they call March Madness.

Grateful, Oh grateful, we do are grateful,
For this year you made merry and peaceful!
And you have been most humble God’s vessel,
Of love and concern- these all in you settled,
Joy to the angel, form of a mentor,
You made our knowledge to heaven’s sky soar,
You made our souls as pleasant as flowers,
And guide us through the rest of the hours,
Blessing you are to a grammar school’s life,
That departed us from times of great strife,
Alike Dark Age seemed endless as a wreath,
It is you that served as Elizabeth!
How honored we are to have such asset,
Would fail you not like the falling sunset,
Grateful, grateful, we really are grateful,
For this year you made merry and peaceful!
You are the salt in everyday’s dishes,
Every great cook shall have in their wishes,
The crucial pinch in our every day hence:
Without you, a day will have less its sense!

Pink dress? Blue dress? Black dress.
Hair down? Hair up? Hair shiny straight.
I will hardly make it on time.
My beautiful toes are screaming at me to get polished,
I will only have time to get the painted.
My lovely legs still need shaving,
Only time stands in the way.
The clock ticks down like a time bomb,
Did i get the flower? Do i have a camera?
Pictures are at 6, wait no 5!
I will never make it on time.
A shiny clean car pulls up in the drive way,
My heart drops to the floor.
I look in the mirror one last time- ready for a great night.
