Premium MemberSweet Music To My Ears

We’re at the beach where seagulls soar.
All nature and sun’s warmth bring bliss.
I hear soft waves that lap the shore.
Sweet music to my ears is this.

At home, my cats lie next to me.
When cats are happy, they don’t hiss.
Mine sofly purr contentedly.
Sweet music to my ears is this.

The children are asleep in bed.
Their rowdiness I do not miss!
Sound’s silence falls on me instead.
Sweet music to my ears is this.

It’s late and time for some romance.
But first before we even kiss,
a favorite song for our slow dance -
Sweet music to my ears is this!

Premium MemberNoah's Apprentice On the Ark

Mark Clarke was the gentlest man of Denmark
Yet considered by all a most unlikely patriarch
He was proud being Noah’s apprentice on the ark

Mark was in charge of ensuring all the animals did embark
Two by two in harmony, elephant, giraffe, tiger, and aardvark
Shared the gameplan with the many types of whale and shark

Ensured every bird was onboard, especially the skylark
Mark’s wondrous inventory was classified by icon and footmark
And sometimes in the margin he would jot a special remark
Hoping no one would notice he found neither unicorn nor snark

For weeks torrential rains made the sky darkest dark
They prayed for the rainbow, that long-awaited coloured arc
When the rains finally subsided they looked for the closest park
Everyone had cabin fever and were ecstatic to disembark

Rowdiness of meow, oink, purr, caw, growl, snarl and bark
Plans were soon ongoing to celebrate with a feisty spark
Evaluating the damage up and down and all around Hark!
Mark said Yeah, that’s gonna leave quite a watermark

Premium MemberMy Friend Mickey

Absolutely loved old Mickey Mouse
My all-time favourite character
No matter what my age is chronologically
Can't wait to crank up the projector

As he carouses round the celluloid screen
Fills my heart with great happiness
His squeaky voice rings out loud and clear
Always creating such rowdiness

Remember the Wonderful World of Disney
One in four was from Fantasyland
Of course, I enjoyed the other three weeks
But adored Mickey and his band

Life was filled with joy back then
Hoped we'd stay kids forever
Thoughts of getting old sometime in the future
Occurred to us almost never

Mickey and his band kept us chuckling all day
No worries, the world was in rhyme
Never concerned what the future had in store
Only fun till beddy-byes time

A Straight-Forward Poem: Dedicated To My Recent Poetry Soup Critics

There are always those who say that you are wrong.
They are the ones who never stray from the herd.
They go to school and learn everything about life from manuals.
They write poems and stories like other poets and writers did.
They get good grades.
They stay out of trouble, but engage in acceptable rowdiness and fun.
They write and give great graduation speeches.
They become middle-managers, mostly.
They fold their socks and underwear.
They stay abreast of the latest trends and movies.
They quote famous quotes like they thought them up.
They attempt to belittle, passive-aggressively, anything out of orthodox thought.
They live their lives like lambs.
They buy big, beautiful things.
They wear shiny wedding-rings.
They drive down drowsy streets.
They form committees.
They bake things shaped like commercials.
They invent rules for writing and art.

And

I

Don't

Follow

Them.

Rowdy Racecar

ZOOOOOOOMING speedily…
Tires squeaking from exhaust… high in volume
Racecar spews out smoke…
Blinding the eyes of a thousand fans

Blooming havoc…
Explosions avalanche downwards
Racecar drives fast and furiously
Awesome feelings launch through me
Projecting panic and twisted bliss

Catching the audience’s full attention…
Tension between challengers increase
Who could stand in their way… not even the coaches
Racecar screeches on the racing street…
Ain’t this competition neat? Come! Take a seat!
This event is brilliant – it’s such a treat!

Producing thrill or disappointment…
Car organs, fragments, shards, remains, limbs, veins
Spurts out in flames… flying at every possible direction
Countless racecars… barely functions – this scene is extremely horrendous!

Yet, the victories are gracious!
Vibrant applauses and thanksgiving triggers enlightening cheer
Have no fear!!!
The moment is ever so precious!

Racecar…you make so much racket and suspense!
Rowdiness is in your nature…who will pay the expense??
