Rooftop Lovers

I looked over my shoulder to look at him again
Though the sky was dark I could still see his brown eyes twinkle in amusement
Perfect pink lips ascend to reveal smiling teeth
He lifted my jaw and kissed me lightly
I settled back into his lap and nuzzled my head deeper into his sweatshirt
His grip on my waist tightened and relaxed
We were rooftop lovers
The passion came rough and fast
Bodies crashing and burning together
The stars our only audience
But after, there was always a certain stillness
A certain silence to our rendezvous
We almost held our breath
Did time exist?
Did anything?
But you & I
The stars and the sky

Premium MemberMeant For A Rooftop Rimas Dissolutas

Laying in bed with a pillow
solitary holds a teardrop
under the radio’s thumb;
Turn it up the rhythm’s flowing;

Now I’m ready I’ve got ammo,
that fire song meant for a rooftop;
Never again will I feel numb,
no matter how things are going;

I’ll bet on that Summer anthem
to take away reality’s sting.

Premium MemberMY RAINY ROOFTOP LULLABY

I fell asleep,
beneath the trees,
their leaves wept,
as I slept.

I now know,
I will go,
someday it's true,
beneath the moon.

Stars will cry,
I'll say goodnight,
close my eyes,
to a rooftop lullaby.

Premium MemberA Rooftop Repose

his day is almost done.
a tranquil getaway,
yet still at home.
his solitude
couldn't be more divine.
a rooftop repose;
his perfect place
to cogitate, to commune
with ghosts of the past.
it's where
he watches the infinite stars;
ever so visible at twilight.
it's where
he looks at the vast sky.
the flight of birds from there,
so captivating.
the whirring zephyr on his skin,
the rustling of trees
so crisp;
nectar from the gods.
daily hustle and bustle
muted at dawn.
up on the rooftop
everything is amplified.
a most welcome respite;
his cloud nine.

Premium MemberRooftop of New York

Sky is running in New York
It is always in movement
Even under immensity

Cocoa yard is dizzy in New York
The crowd rushes by
Even under the rain

Sky is flooding New York
With its blue-grey coat
Even under the boat

Premium MemberWho Is On the Rooftop

Who is in the rooftop yelling ho ho ho?
The rest of us ran to the window and saw some snow.
We went crazy, ran outside without our coats and hats.
When we came back in, grandma had thrown out some mats.

Our crazy Uncle Ted was on the roof, making lots of noise.
Hinting that he had brought some wonderful toys.
We didn’t care; it was snowing, and we could sled!
We stayed outside a long time, irritating our Uncle Ted.

Premium MemberThe Rooftop Artist

A self-styled you yell from hot tin roof top
Nobody lends ears but you don’t ever stop
You pronounce you’ll make a great name
As an artist, in loud voice you do proclaim.

You say there are colors in lens of your eye
We all know it's nothing but a flat white lie
So you think you carry the gene of an artist
The concealed laughter people can’t resist.

You surmise your brush has Monet touch
But your trees are cluster of plumb crutch
Something like water in river is ink opaque
You can’t even make the semblance of fake.

When you gloat you’ve got the Picasso flair
Crude art shapes daub the pallid paint layer
Formless faces are entangled in web of cubes
As a bizarre pile of squeezed out color tubes.

Premium MemberPondering On a Rooftop

Her hose were not keeping her warm on this roof
But in one second her dreams had gone up in a poof
The only comfort was the stray cat who showed up in black
Sitting beside her, as if he had her back.

She thought this time was going to be different than the others.
The guy whom she had chosen, was a friend of one of her brothers.
As she had watched him walk away with her friend that day,
She knew it was going to take time for the pain to go away.

She had been at play practice every afternoon for a couple of weeks.
She had asked Susan and Sammy to come by and take a couple of peeks.
She had thrown them together by asking them to spend time together.
Now she was suffering from misery, not caused by only the weather.

Premium MemberErotic Rooftop Connection

Let's relive that night of nebulas.
Toga night, fearless night!

With Aphrodite dancing clearly in
their sight.
Eros casts his sexual might,.

Let's dance in bewitching circles of Aegean mystery.
Only ....you and I in a kissable, erotic synergy.

Filled to the brim, our aquamarine crystal glasses.
San Francisco has memories and absolutely no passes.

They still celebrate love each night on their roof.
I hear the pawing of their Unicorn Minerva's hoof.

Two, that chose to love under the gods' directions.
From this earth, their love, a delicate confectionary,
eternal connection!

Blessings From a Rooftop Garden

fresh blossoms daily
fragrant beauty displaces
toxic facebook posts

Note:

Soup poet, Demetrios Triflatis, posts photos on facebook of the flowers grown
in his roof garden. (He also shares these photos with his poems)

Demetrios, is a man of peace. He is obviously a skilled gardener. He is a poet who radiates hope.

Sharing photos of natural beauty nurtured by his hand is a tremendous gift to the world
and a spiritual counterbalance to the trend toward vitriolic monologue on social media.

Thank you Demetrios!

Rooftop Concerto

were that i could speak again
the thoughts frozen in my head
the sun rarely burns me now
and the moon a haughty stranger
lifting its one eyebrow at me.

i stir uneasy in the concrete bowels
where skitters my fears
in halloween masks.

i think i'll yowl with the cats
on the roofdeck

Suburban Rooftop Getaway

there is a subtle reason
youth entitles itself to treason
with the ever-changing faces
in slowly shifting places
the wind blows prophetically
from a land that once was free
however is no longer

On the pool is the glimmer
the transcendental swimmer
hiding in the clouds
blocking out the sun
run and tell your father
we've finally found his gun

Rooftop

Rooftop
Giant
You peer
over
the sleeping
city
and from this
height you
can hear
a symphony of
crickets
who
sing
 mournful love songs
to
the stars
Who
hang so far out of reach
Speculating
how
miniscule
and powerless they are
to the rest of the Universe's
master
plans

There you are
Arms
lifted towards the heavens
embracing
his creation
Freed
by
the binds
of
the rest of this cruel world.

Unabashed
by
the
silence, and your own singularity
You are
home.
From
Such
great heights
only
seeking
serenity
Until
you
reach
him
and your final resting home.
