Quandary Resolved

The wheels fell off my thingamajig
as a thingy
came loose in the whachamacallit
or perhaps it was the doodad
on the wotsit
which was the cause to stall it
and it'll take a few odds 'n' sods
plus a new doodah
and some hoo-ha
to make the gizmo
or doohickey
go again so
not to take the mickey
but prep the whole whoop-de-do
to look like new
I'll probably plop
for purchasing the gubbins
or bits and bobs
in a thingamabob
shop
and possibly more
at a whatnot
store

Premium MemberResolved to Try

Vermeer would have loved this corner to paint
It has the Dutch colors, sliver of sunshine ambiance
I took out my brushes and paints, and began to mix
So many diverse turquoises, could I capture them?
I resolved to try

RESOLVED CONTROVERSY

         the ends justify the means
it is not in Machiavelli's The Prince
but it appears in Ovideo's Herod

Premium Membermadness resolved

storm clouds relentlessly
crashed on rock bottom
with the only crack dragging
wreckage and carnage through
a trapdoor into oblivious fog
gruelling sediment confined
a rotten Self of incarceration

the stakes were high
for being impaled
a sizzling cauldron
waiting for a sumptuous feast
manna from hell and a spell
on the barbed wire walls
just behind the firing squad

gift of despair cajoling
hope from the darkest
of abysmal recesses
a balancing act on a
thorny yet slippery cross
one road leading to nowhere
the other painful but promising
no middle way to be had
between death or surrender

fear of the unknown certainly
better than certain demise

Phoenix just be aware of
of the message of Icarus
then the moon will be
waning and waxing
in perpetual motion
dancing into the light

Unto What End

What is the point of going on,
is there something left to find?
Too many days of rise and fall
have left me far behind.

And what’s to gain in trying to feel
what I see others feel?
The only thing I feel these days
is that nothing is real.

I often sit and wonder
what the whole damn thing’s about,
when this life seems a pointless game
that’s ruled by fear and doubt.

Yet I admit there have been times
when everything was clear,
but no one else can understand
so, I’m alone I fear.

And so, I see through wanton eyes
and feel with hollow heart,
but something keeps me going on
start after faltered start.

Unto what end have I been born?
Deep down inside I know.
There’s something I’m suppose to be…
unto that end I’ll go.

Resolved, Resolved

Resolved, this will be my best year!
Envisioned, still with end unseen,
Shall Christ find me with lamp in gear
Or will I be begging for oil?
Lamp I am, His light on this earth,
Verve within me – Spirit of strength.
Embarking on His call to worth
Determined I will fan His flame.

Resolved, that Christ is all I need
Ego must be burned to ashes.
Selfish designs I can concede,
Occasion now for Christ to shine.
Lampshade of self removed for aye,
Vagabond fast bound for heaven
Expecting Christ will guide my way.
Daily I approach this New Year.

Premium MemberHe Resolved To Speak To the Moon

Boy could not get a satisfactory answer on earth
So he resolved to speak to the moon
How will you do it? His dragon asked.
I shall fly up there tonight in my dreams, of course.

Boy was a possibility thinker.
That night he flew up to the moon and asked his question.
I have no idea, the moon said. Have you asked your dragon?
How did you know I have a dragon?

I heard you talking to him this afternoon.
This surprised the boy.
And it surprised the dragon.
Who always had the answer.

Premium MemberI Am Resolved

I will continue to write the things I should,
I will come to the defense of those maligned
I will always stand up for right and good,
For I have an obligation to speak my mind.

I know that I probably should remain silent
In the face of bitter nastiness and bullying,
But it is very hard for me to blithely relent
When my blood pressure is obviously boiling.

I am even aware I degrade myself in replying
That it is always better to take the high road
None of the good, helpful advice I am denying
But bearing awful insults is too heavy a load.

So, I’ll not be bullied into a weak submission
And neither should anyone here so abused
I think it is time we all take a good position,
And let the bullies know we are not amused.

I am determined to make Poetry Soup the best
Community of writers on the broad internet,
And may it be known that we passed the test
Not suffering fools gladly and having no regret.

So Suddenly I Resolved To Live

It was so:
I suddenly released
the tongue brakes
and said what i always
meant..
I released the soul, I liberated
the instincts,
I sent the prejudices
to their labyrinths
and I started to live...
I noticed that stopped was
most tired...
  I unlocked the doors,
I threw opened the windows...
why be a prisoner
if not sentenced I am! ?
I dressed as an adventurer
and challenged the roads
no repressed daydreams
and I went to be free...
If concept flies
I can fly too...
and so I left for novel
from the brief moment
when I met a lovely
lady...the poetry...!

Fractured Mind Resolved

Sitting alone with thoughts and gun
Talking with voices, dang what fun
Alone with the thoughts in my head
It’s a surprise I’m not dead

Caught up in deep thought for all times
How do I figure out my crime
Wondering why the torture lasts
Is it something from lives past

I’ve paid my debt for things done
Enduring pain from the sun
Hiding shadows, oh so dark
On this world I’ll leave my mark

Now hiding in my mind no more
Walking through a much brighter door
Seeing the man that I can be
A man that can truly be free

Premium MemberNot Resolved

Really we should Realize
Everyone needs to be Engaged
Sometimes with a Sense
Of responsibility to Others
Looking after Lonely people
Unifying those who are Unlovable
To some folk who have no Thought
Indeed for other Individuals
Other than themselves, how Obnoxious
No sympathy is shown Nothing touches them
Sorry to say there are many Such people

Premium MemberResolved Am I

Resolved verily…
…to serve God freely
by His grace surely
working mightily
midst peace joyously...

     ...Resolved am I…
     to glorify*
     Lord, magnify
     as I draw nigh…

          …Resolved now…
          with my vow
          to Christ, bow…

               …then live
               and give…

                    love!

*1Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Blues For Rafaa

We worked together
in the airless cubicle gulag
on the surface of the moon
during the last ice age

Diligently scurrying under
the bright artificial lights
composing odes to poverty
with great purpose and poise

Dodging the executive ghouls
who skulked the narrow halls
Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff
howling as the villagers fled

But there he would be
in a state of perpetual calm
absorbing the vortex of chaos
a tall black-skinned Buddha

Always the one to rise above
the daily details and deviations
always keeping his balance
even with one foot in the air

An open and private man
I never got to know well
some glimpses and peeks
but the film never developed

Filled with a sly dry humor
engaged to illuminate not shame

the spark in his dark pupils
came from a clarity of heart

His was a living credo of resolve
of stepping back not rushing forward
an involved evolving philosophy
in quiet and thoughtful motion

I will miss him
I will think of him
whenever I take a leap
and am not sure where to land
