IN SAGE TREED INSPIRATION

Standing in the forested arena
Beneath one of the multiplicities
Of the ethnicities of barked sage trees
Reining in the mutual oneness
Of the equanimity of their being,
My spirituality of mind turned its focus
To thoughts of the Crucifixion, Resurrection,
And indeed, the fulfilled glorious Ascension:-

At that moment, it dawned upon me,
The symbolic role that sage trees
Have played in the lives of humanity–
From crosses to branched stages of lynchings–
As living symbolic reminders of life’s tribulations:-

And at that very serene bell ringing moment,
My mind canvassed a profound awareness:
Today’s sage trees stream to us a message
Of faithful resurrection and renewed healing life
As we observe them sojourning nature's seasons
From summer to fall–to winter–and on to spring:-

N.B.: May your mind be likewise canvassed
        And enlighteningly streamed with their
        Profound sage treed inspiration.

Crave

Deep voice cradled with tender
Rough hands smoothing it better
The fears hunches my back,
He arches it again with sweet words of wonder
When I doubt all I am
He hugs my angels and my monsters
Reminds me of parts I have stop loving
His calm eyes find my frightened
So he lets me see the storm brewing within
He is chaos reining in to wash my worries
Burning passion with worship so deep
In awe I am as I weep
With joy and want and a thousand more things
Like kisses on the blade of my shoulder
To relax them for a moment
Before the world jumps on it
Or a silent confession of love
From eyes that are afraid to hurt
I relax like water finally meeting
The golden bowl it dreamt of
And let myself be the thirst
That craves those little moments
In a world full of grand ones.

Premium MemberWho's Reining In Ukraine

Russia pounds Bakhmut to dust in 2022
Putin bombs and tortures civilians too
Western diplomats warn, "Naughty, naught, shouldn't do!"
No marches, no protests, no counterattacks, no coup

Putin smirks: "Civilians? Them, we do not attack!"
Words of a fox, a liar, a megalomaniac
Zelensky and Ukraine fight back with all their might
But in 2023, Ukraine's nearly out of arms
                                       ~ quite a desperate plight

Zelensky awaits reinforcements from the West, but alas
The delivery system is almost out of gas
Enmeshed in partisan jawing and enmity on Capitol Hill
Never forget: If Ukraine loses, Western lives pay the bill

Non-Fiction In the New Yorker

If the subject is appealing,
I’ll, at first, begin to read,
Though the facts with which I’m dealing
Are way more than what I need.

All the knowledge that I’m gaining,
By the time I reach page 3,
Can’t prevent my interest waning
And I’m sure it’s not just me.

Aren’t the editors aware of
When a story is too long?
For as readers, we despair of
Lack of reining in what’s wrong.

What I mostly end up doing
Is abandoning, mid-stream,
Someone’s effort, rarely ruing
That it might be gaining steam.

Still, I’ll stick with my subscription;
Through its pages I will comb.
What might cause a true conniption
Is an enigmatic poem!

Premium MemberMerlin the Magic Cat

MEOW! cries Merlin the Magic Cat,
As he pulls magic out of his hat!

POOF! A lady Siamese appears!
PURR-they scratch each other's ears.

POOF! A service of catnip tea spread.
PURR-Sip and smile, no meows are said.

POOF! A coach with gold roses on it!
MEOW! "Mer" reads a Shakesphere sonnet.

PURRING loudly, as she smiles at him,
POOF! Eight horses await his next whim.

POOF! Two coachmen arrive ln thin air!
Reining the horses, they await there.

PURR-Will she or won't she take his arm?
He's barely begun to show his charm.

POOF! She accepts and they ride away!
PURR-Magic occurred one summer's day!

Sleep

In my dreams, I sleep
In my awake, I sleep
In my mind, I sleep
I Sleep in not apathy but unawareness
I Sleep in not as frivolous but free reining
I live the world in sleep surrounded by sprinkling fairies
Sprinkling the dust of youth from tippy toe to tippy top
The dust is light, light like my head
The dust is tender, tender like my skin
The dust is clear, clear like my mind
The dust is benevolence, it sings bene a tutti e due.
The dust is genesis, the beginning, prolonged and new.

Close your eyes
See the darkness
But I
See light
That is the sleep
The slumber
The break
The breath
The solace
That is-my carriage across the world
On its back I am through the hills of Malaysia
Through the beach of Jamaica
And to the immortal unknown.

With my sleep in the obscure, I see the meaning
With my sleep in the daunting, I see the timid
With my sleep in the proud, I see the jealous
With my sleep in the bedlam, I see the field
For even If I do not know
My sleep is my eyes
My eyes are my heart
And my heart soothed.

Grace

Gone! Grief ends with an acceptance sigh
Glum death, another feigned forbearance sigh…

Reining-in fervent sobs in public ceremony
Rites by rote dull the innate in a perseverance sigh…

As songs drown the cries of agony’s fervor
Alive words ease the sting of a hard chance sigh….

Cataracts cloud but the skies are cerulean clear
Colors shine with that last peace-enhanced sigh...

Even as we, the 86ers, recall your smile through tears
Elegant, your rainbow collected us in embraced sighs…

Premium MemberI Worry, I Worry

I worry, I worry, I worry,
knowing that I cannot protect you
from everything -- knowing that
I cannot protect you
from yourself.

Craving a taste of that
imaginary condition -- freedom --
full of the allure of
no constraints, you flee from me.
And you bridle under the bonds
of others' expectations
reining you in.

I fear for you, enormously.
And I am quivering in my rage
at those who might, even unknowingly,
do you harm.

May you allow, if grudgingly,
the "powers that be" --
(whatever that means) -- and me --
to shield you.

If Only --- For You

moisture melts mystic moments
reining down
from the blue of my sky

I envision delicate eyes
embracing me

a warm breath of forever

holding

more than just a glimmer
of yesterday

of today

a future full

scintillating showers
slowly glistening
in the starlight
seducing the shadows
of our far away moon

Reining in jet-black steed;
Rangle for her falcon.
Repugnant mudslinging,
Risible in content,
Rankled those in the know.
Recent loss of soulmate;
Ravens smudge the teal sky.
____________________________________________________
GLOSSARY
Queen Elizabeth II had a good seat, and her love of horses is well documented. [Edited]
Throughout the ages, falconry has been considered the sport of kings. In falconry, ‘rangle’ is a term used for small stones which are fed to hawks to aid in digestion.
The exposé led by her grandson, Prince Harry, had divided a nation—a number of assertions made, have been proven to be false.
Queen Elizabeth II lost her husband on 9 April 2021, whom she had viewed as her soulmate.
A group of at least six captive ravens are resident at the Tower of London. Their presence is traditionally believed to protect The Crown and the Tower; a superstition holds that "if the Tower of London ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain with it."

Ugly Yellow Stain

Poseidon is blowing a current
Making a tormented sea
Reflecting what is mirrored above
Ugly yellow political stain
Corroded bubbling cancerous film
Spreading stealthily
But not silently

Waves of despair growing larger
Until mermaids rise up
Tails forming beautiful swirls
To tame the torment
Take back the rights of dignity
With moral compass straightened
Billowing yellow imprisoned

Their reining light brings calm seas
The young and old quit despair
Restore the sane with liquid voices
Greed swallowed by compassion
Slowly fill the ocean
With sweet fruit of truths
Not silenced anymore

Premium MemberDrums of Yesterday

We once saw the moon
We have always wished for the stars
Viewed faraway lands
tuned up/ machines
while connecting far and wide
but today
we now string and croon
from the moon
waving to our neighbours
the twinkling stars
marching over mars
 Toppled mountains
Even reining the roaring waves
but alas
why then With all our conquest
We are still beating
The drums of yesterday

Spring Has My Love

Seven long weeks of winter with her snow not refraining,
But oh, approaching is a season who shall give my joy endless reining.

And when the dark clouds shower,
The fields shall sprout lavender flowers.
Tis’ not I love Spring with favoritism.
Oh no indeed my adoration toward all seasons is equal
Alas, I cannot save myself from the sight of the leaves’ resurrection.

And if ultimately I were to choose
which of Earth’s seasons should not I lose,
Then toward God, I would gaze my face
and pray Him not to withhold Spring’s Grace.

Echoes

Crystal beeds of water, unstained by colour
Smiled upon, by an all-seeing eye
Silently, they trickle down the glass pane
Devoid of hue, but imbued with character

Some move quickly
Some pace timidly

This one, is a "rebellious" soul
Alas, just a spark in an unrelenting storm
This one, is an "introverted" soul
Alas, just a teardrop in an infinite sea
This one, is an "aimiable" soul
Alas, just a speck in a clearly endless void
And this one, is a "free-reining" soul
Or at least, so he proclaimed
So he proclaimed...
