You opened your doors in 1998.
Little did you realise, how highly you’d rate.
With grand halls and ceilings and banisters gleaming.
When people come to visit, it’s like they are dreaming.
No detail too small, overlooked or unfinished.
Any uncertainty would soon be diminished.
The Festival Village, a hidden little gem.
This just has to be a ten out of ten.
There’s Peel Avenue, Regent Crescent, Barton Square.
Thousands of people just love to shop there.
Millions visit you, year upon year.
Perhaps when they leave, they shed a small tear.
So many customers knew you’d be great.
A perfect place to visit for a first date.
The Orient, to wine and dine.
Each restaurant is simply divine.
The Dome in the centre, draws people to enter.
They look up in wonder at all of its splendour.
Your staff are so friendly, helpful and kind.
If you lose a child they’re easy to find.
Magnificent statues, strong and tall.
A spectacular chandelier in the Great Hall.
Nearly twenty years past, is that how long it’s been!
Here’s to another twenty, living the dream

INDEPENDENCE DAY
Ours is a land of sage
We've come of age
Amongst the people's rage,
We're set to turn a new page.
Our dexterity, none can compare,
and drive, they surely can't bear.
Our cultures, none can beat,
but baffled by our humongous feats.
Whatever beliefs, customs, religion,
It brings us all into everlasting union.
Whatever diversity, miffs, or intuition,
we all live in here in unison.
With rivers and oceans roaring,
the Nigerian spirit is ever rearing
and surviving all impediments.
The land is green & strong like a regent.
We declare this day as our independence,
Long live Nigeria where our story begins.

Painting by Edvard Munch, 1895: "Moon Light"
your soft hand trembles in mine
no words are spoken
we observe our ascending full moon
as we have every month for forty years
empyrean empress rises to her throne
queen regent of the night sky reigning
over brooding blue bay and melancholic mountains
as predictable as death
we again sit in our folding chairs
whispering under our favorite tree
anticipating the coming light show
enjoying her long bridal veil
shimmering in the existential ripples
a nocturne of nebulous narratives
stopping at the shore line
stopping
she inevitably will descend
the shroud of shadow will cover the land
comforted that tomorrow will awaken
to a resplendent sun
and next month will bring another full moon
the doctor said three weeks
so this will probably be our last
your soft hand trembles in mine
no words are spoken

Miss Joey is regent of the ivory flower garden
seen prancing among the delicate tulip petals
pungent aromas swirl around her in gentle ways
her glitzy glittering gown of freshly mowed grass
lavender lilacs showing out with pervasive fragrance
reds, oranges, pinks and yellows peering out of floral centers
sunflower peeking over her shoulder, giving the meadow a smile

Nefertiti the bearded queen
Began her royal life at fifteen
Wooed and wed by Pharaoh Akhenaten
Ancient Egypt never was this rich again.
Nefertiti “the beautiful one has come”
Had six daughters, but unfortunately lost one.
She and her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten
Started worshipping only one god – the Sun.
Nefertiti went from Great Royal Wife
Promoted to co-regent without much strife
When her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten died,
It elevated her to rule beside his spiritual side
She was considered equal to a pharaoh now
Her legacy of changing religion is now a wow
Mansion of Benben temple dedicated to her
Visit the tombs, and hear her purr.

If the Lord were a maid, He'd be my Queen;
and as my Queen, I'd be His king; and love,
revere, and prize Him like Saint Augustine.
My Queen, whose throne-room is Heaven above,
I'd honor and praise, for He's the Monarch
of my soul and the Sovereign of my heart.
The Regent of my being (whose hallmark's
my crest, from whose presence I'd ne'er depart),
I'd worship; and with these lines now extol,
lift up beyond death and for all of time:
for He made me and created It all,
heaven, earth, space, time, and my gift for rhyme.
If I, too, were a maid, I'd be His Bride;
and as His Bride, I would be at His side.

Mom shrieks as I tap like Ginger Rogers on the kitchen floor.
The raggedy mop with rigid brows swishes me out the door.
With squinty eyes, the traffic cop regent-points to the yard.
Her majesty, with dish soap hands, wallops my cap, soft not hard.

Cleopatra, the last Pharaoh of Egypt,
could have had Caesar or Anthony as a co-regent,
but rather than putting such power in either man's grasp,
she put leadership decisions in the path of an asp.

I was freed today the birth of a regent a new colony
I was created in Freedom birth of land from Liberty
Free from Injustice persecution and religious domination
Resurrected Liberty's captivating setting us free
Oh how I long to be born in the land of liberty
Oh how i come to be running from that place I don't want to be
All free me Lord old free me God I want to be
Born in the land of liberty
Never had freedom ring nothing but domination
Now I see I have away to be born in the land of liberty
I crawl I walk I run from the ravishers
The captivators conquerors Kings tyrants the nominees
Oh how I long to be free freedom is Freedom was freedom is from above
I walked the new land with arms held out and raised
Happy now that I have a choice in my new phone voice
A day of Liberty and freedom come
Blessed happy birthday America

Oneness with 'the Absolute'...!
Dying to the moment - every moment,
that we can't even stake claim as a regent!
Resulting restlessness that we can prevent,
all the illusion in the mind of each and every event.
Treading path effortlessly into a raging torment;
moment to moment pass-by in reprieve-less lament.
An occasional glimpse within for sacrament;
thence on - align well with a sense of contentment.
Thought sourced from surface lure us for entrapment;
disguised well in mind with fancy embellishment.
Home-in with inward vision, a step towards enrichment;
into thoughtless-ness and nothing-ness - an endowment!
Using this body and mind as a tool to seek fulfillment,
with contemplative thoughts for spiritual nourishment.
Reach-out to everyone and everything for rapprochement;
step-by-step in the path for internal enhancement.
Continuously seeking harmony with our environment,
imbibing qualities of equanimity, fellowship and endearment.
Animate and inanimate forms to enthrall in complete amazement;
do we experience Oneness with that Absolute - in Enlightenment!

The Domestic War
Everybody is dishonest your family too
They scheme and manoeuvre getting an advantage
My house has become a realm where
The aristocracy vies for power giving the wrong counsel
Trying to replace the old king
Now the chief counsellor his right-hand lady has openly
Betrayed him with false information
The ruler could have her expelled or ban her from his high table
He is weak, and the people sense it.
Giggling hyenas ready to attack the living corps
The monarch gets out of the bed call a doctor from afar
The regent becomes a vegan, his strength returns
He banishes the traitors and gets a new consigliere.

DREAM ON DANIEL
A chronicle of a righteous man of old
Who brought King Darius into the fold;
Understanding writing on the wall
Prophetic interpretation his spiritual call;
Daniel ,a man faithfilled in prayer,caused
Darius to cast him into the lion's lair;
A guardian angel to Daniel was sent,
So trust in God received royal assent;
Dream,words and visions filled Daniel's life
He proclaimed God's truths ,without fear or stife;
A regent of Babylon for its kings
Of Shadrach,Mesha,ch & Abednego, we now sing.

They have seen to The Almighty into themselves !
Killers have third eye
They have seen to the regent of Death into themselves !
Even so , killers are blind !
