Raj Kapoor, A Bollywood immortal film star,
His movies had a deep impact on audience,
Nargis, was his favorite heroin,
I thought she was his wife.

There once was a man from Bombay,
Who danced in a silly and wild way.
With a wig on his head,
And a grin so widespread,
He made everyone laugh

He created a film industry dynasty,
Even now, his grandson and granddaughters dominate the film industry,
There was a myth, if your last name is not Kapoor,
You cannot become a heart throb film star.

Sir Aurobindo - National Internationalism

I
At home with Shankara & Ramanuja
As with Spinoza, Kant, and Buber
Seventy years on earth, to 1950, heir
To Thought of East, West, 'Father Nature'
Fought for Independent India, from 'Raj'
Taught we must do spiritual evolution
Community and nation are a good start
But dissolve they must, peace past nationalism
Separation is overcome by One Identity

Sri Aurobindo could use Brahman, Lila, and Supermind as with Heraclitus' Logos, and yet see "solidarity ... and mutability" as the great future, based on individual consciousness that evolves with supramental download s

An Innocent Childhood Memory

"Peacock feathers will grow"
If kept in a book ,nourished by pencil shavings;
I raised brow!

Probing to test~
Borrowed some from my friend's savings;
With zest.

Inclined
By false ravings--
Pined!!

"Peacock feathers will grow"
Borrowed some from my friend's savings;
Pined..!!

Walk Alone

Walk Alone (Motherland)
By Rabindranath Tagore
Translation by Snehendu Kar

If no one listens to your call-
then you must walk on alone.
Move on alone, move on alone, and move on alone.
If no one speaks to you- oh, oh my hapless one,
If everyone turns the other way; if everyone is afraid,
Then open your heart and speak out your mind alone.

If everyone turns away, oh my hapless one,
If as you walk alone on a dark road
no one joins you on your journey,
Then you must crush the thorns on your path
with your bleeding feet and walk ahead alone.

If no one holds up a light, -oh my hapless one
if on a dark, stormy, and rainy night
everyone seeks refuge behind a closed door, -
then, with the flame from a roaring lightning
set your own ribcage on fire
and burn alone in that holy pyre

The Power of Love, Literacy and Faith

Once upon a time there was a palace over a secluded hill

Where lived an Indian blooded ‘Rani’ (Queen) with an inky will

Equipped and armed with a resourceful screen

With the might of her pen, for revolution she would melodiously scream

Each time the ordinary would look up to the hill and see

The flames in her bosom passionately rising to create history

The lushest of Kings from neighbouring lands

Chose to ride for eons to witness the miracles of her resourceful hands

With faith and light, she ruled from land to shore

Glitches out of their virginity; all nipped to the core

Against all bitterness her love spread like the chimes of the Big Ben

To save rebellious souls, she would walk unarmed in to any lion’s den

The Savage, many times would plot for her 'Raj' (kingdom) to crumble away

Not possible! For this Royal tigress each night would humbly kneel and pray.

Divine Providence

Ruminating over a golden era gone by and over possessiveness filled me with nostalgia
Ultimate luxury of vying for a car as well as owning a chauffeur driven one was
Sadly for the migrated rulers who ruled over another dynasty across oceans
The massive Ford drove into grandpa's driveway in the early forties
Exactly thirty years later it stood dark, forlorn, inviting rust under the banyan tree
Devoid of its master whose ashes were bestrewn within the old British Raj bungalow

Benign weather peeled off layers of its glossy makeup despite its bare upkeep; our
Undulating frustration as it drank too many gallons; moleskin upholstery on bucketed
Seats laid bare its withered ribs, spouting foul smell in rain and sun; the rolling
Tyres busted for the wheels didn't spin down the familiar roads along the hill; our
Eyes got sore at its lost lustre while we heaved deep sighs at its opulent maintenance
Divine providence intervened to refurbish the vintage for glorious view in the Museum

Making the Bed

I made the bed this rainy and bleak Sunday,
Struggling to iron out the creases on the duvet,
Thinking all the while about straightening my life,
Then, the stains of semen and sweat surfaced.
                   Stark images flashed---dark and unforgiving
of lost loves in that desert when time no longer was,
in that black abyss of nightmares and tears of a bygone age.

But the bed was made, the linen clean and all in order,
No more bad dreams or morbid memory,
Only that antiseptic order, banning all disorder.
But when will that bed be buried again in the filth of falsity?

A Handful of Earth

We are but a handful of Earth ...let go the unwanted ego

Shed that mask of greatness and let the love freely flow

In every act of forgiveness in this very moment

Know you are freeing yourself more, than another with this movement

Reality is in this moment alone

Allow that past to move on and with the future unknown....

The challenge is in this moment that presents an opportunity

to fill it with hope and positivity...

Sense through the sifting sands of time ,watch it flow free on its course

Simply be present in this moment , never be overwhelmed or too morose

Life will take care of you as it always has, since you were born

Don't you worry or be forlorn!

In every new day that dawns, and a new moment itself presents

Refill your heart with hope and be alive to the magic that it actually represents !

Lost In Memories

Alone and waiting in a corner of the piazzA
I can feel my heart race and throB
The night is warm and the mood is romantiC
Sweet scents of flowers wafteD
In the evening breezE
I close my eyes and allow myselF
To him a tune from a lively sonG
From my lips escape a soft and contented sigH
As my fingers tap loudly to make a TimpanI
I remember my old friend RaJ
My mind wandered and drifted bacK
To the sea of memories in a saiL
Images on my mind unfold as in a dreaM
Like a song that plays a sad refraiN
The sound of the past lingered like echO
As I open my eyes to the present and woke uP
To the chiming of the clock tower so antiQ
As it strike to tell the hour, my mind bluR
The memories fade leaving me with feelings of happinesS
So fleeting that I lost myself for a momenT
Reality set in as I search the milieU
Hoping to find the familiar face of my luV
I wonder if he would show up somehow
My heart longs to see him and I feel vex
As the night progress, making my head tipsY
From wine and the ringing of slaughters in my ears buzZ

Yeh Ankhein

dil ki juvan tumse he bolti hain

sare raj dil ke tumse he kholti hain

sona to main bhi chahti hu

per meri nendon ke abh sapne kho gaye

jitne the khab mere bo sare chur chur ho gaye

ankhhon ke sare noor ashon sang roo gaye

main lash c

main thi bindass c

gujre palo ki gunje awaj bhi

per uljan hain k meri zindagi

tere bina hui bekar c

na koi dil ki khushi na hain koi dhun saj c

koi na sune abh dil ki awaj meri

jo harpal dhundti hain bus bahe teri

tere didar ko ankhein harpal tarsti hain

bus tere liye he pyasi hain

tere liye he harpal barsti hain yeh ankhein meri

A Grey Maharajah Speaks

At five of the clock an immigrant species from the Raj speaks,

"woort tooo - teee tau", a grey maharajah on our hopper window

waking us up to another sunny, hot English summer's day we dream about

or have nightmares as is our want; remembering or misremembering our childhoods.

What Is Love

The most difficult questions
For the mankind in this world.
Centuries passed,
Relationships have bloomed
And so as love,
But none can give the right answer.
For some it's friendship set on fire,
For some it's luck, it's emotion.
To will the good of another,
A condition of absolute value
To be delighted by the happiness
Of another.
Love is sometimes contrasted with
Friendship.
A person can be said to love an
Object, principal or goal if
They value it greatly,
And are deeply committed to it.
The nature or essence of love
Is a subject of frequent debate.
Different aspects of the word can be
Clarified by determining
What is not love.
Although the word love is
Often applied to
Close friendship.
