On some back road in Texas
Where time had flown away
Sat a dreamlike Kinkade home
Of warmth and heart, not paint,
With shaded walkway arbor
Crowned with leaves and flowers.
Love dwelt there.
A lovely little couple,
Long past their youthful prime,
Welcomed us into their home
With bright and cheerful smiles
Saying, “We over-ripe grapes
Are now in raisin time.”
Love was there.
Our afternoon was blissful
Midst rose and hollyhock
Seated near a lily pond,
A lotus eater’s dream,
With tea, crumpets, clotted cream
And conversation sweet.
Love shared there.
We bade farewell at even
With smiles, and hugs and tears
To Pop Vin and Auntie Mae.
A stooped for sale sign wept
For the home they would depart.
The pair smiled even so.
Love held on.
One later year we passed by
Under a searing sky
That burned up cornfields nearby
Their home worn and withered
As grapes long past raisin time.
Wistfully we knew why:
Love had gone.

I Am A Raisin
in a field of grapes
And I got a hunch
Some of us are going to fall away from the bunch
a
And though I'm sweet
I am still good to The Taste
So much sweet
I bet you want to eat
I have fallen yet I have risen
My body's round yet wrinkles
Purple haste, wrinkle face
Displaced
I am in glee, yet I am not green
Fallen from the bunch
And yet on the ground no one steps on us...
and yet no, no, no wait.
Splat!!!
Squish!!!

You could make paper paving pavements as a pavement paver,
and take that paper to a rave and rave like a raving raver,
save behaviour you savour and say to the saviour to save ya,
lose weight so the waiter waits less and waits more for more to waiter,
exaggerate hatred that's stated and overstate the case
whilst you raise praise to raise the raisin raisers wage,
then tie a lace and race with pace to first place and deface the stage.
or...…..
you could save your wage from paving pavements and savour the wait as you save for a case of raver behaviour with pace overstating hatred for a raisin raiser waiter waiting to wait on an overweight weight weigher disgraced in their weighs and way of racist that defacist de stage, man.

At Christmas time my sister and mom
have a tradition to make delicious cookies
in the shape of a pie with sugar on top.
These are not the kind to chug down.
Not even sure if they go with milk.
A holiday special with the likes of fruit cake.
Nobody else in my household loves them
or even tries them so into the freezer they go
warmed for many days for they mustn’t go to waste!
A slightly bubbling concoction of brown sugar.
Santa would be flossing on his sleigh.
The reindeer would be jealous.

The floss or flossing is a dance move in which a person repeatedly swings their arms, with clenched fists, from the back of their body to the front, on each side. (Wikipedia)

She longed to be a baker
Though neither thumb was white
Couldn’t rise to the occasion
And the contest is tonight
“Listen Cupcake, don’t you fret”
Your name is not Sue Flay
Just do your best and let
The chocolate chips~ fall where they may
You just might win this contest
And be rolling in the dough
It’s when you yeast expect it,
Those creative juices flow
Kneading inspiration,
I whispered in her ear
“You just can't roll over”
And give up out of fear
You’re shortening your lifespan
With silly complications
You should learn to trust yourself,
Start raisin expectations

They named their baby Brad to be grand
But with a typo it came out Bran
How's that for luck
But then it stuck
Now they're raisin Bran I understand

I had a beacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich on raisin bread toast with mayo,
and it was surprisingly good if you must know.
I also gave raisin bread french toast a try.
Another culinary delight recommended by I,
and nothing more enhances a classic sandwich like P B & J
than to have it prepared on raisin bread is what I always say.
I seem to have been on a raisin bread kick for these past couple of days,
preparing raisin bread in many alternative various ways.
Who knows how long I'll continue my raisin bread craze.
All I know is that lately raisin bread is all that I crave.

RAISIN CANE
There was a dried-up grape who became uncaring and overbearing
So one might say he became one brazen raisin

Raisin Bread of which I bought
the wrong one.
You are white, I wanted wheat.
You are hard, I prefer soft.
I will return and buy a new
Raisin Bread.
But you,
I will never forget.
