The Quick Fix
8/14/2023
Write two lines of wisdom that rhyme,
Why write more, takes up your time!
We’ve proven there's no quick fix
when we start to yell and cuss.
Oil and water do not mix,
and the same thing goes for us.
When together, night and day,
senseless arguments break out.
And politeness fades away
as we both begin to shout.
Right or wrong, we won't relent;
egos are immune to tears.
And insults fuel our descent,
like drunks quibbling over beers.
Anger rises a degree
when neither of us will bend.
But there's no chance we'll agree,
so our hearts will never mend.
Arrogance spews from our lips,
giving in; is hard to do.
And although all reason slips,
we opt to argue it through.

When the heart I gave wholly to you
was stomped on and then ripped in two,
I took it right back.
So hit the road, Jack!
I'll be good once I find Super Glue.
For P.D.'s Indian Giver Contest
Sabotaging my dying will with small treats
Under hoping that sweets are not my only taking happiness
Greatly appreciated though the free quick fill of pizazz
Am I ever such a child when it comes to my share
Rare are the chances; for when you get older, not much candy is allowed
Relentless is my mouth for another taste
Urging is my body for a quicker pace
Simple are the treasures in my hand
Huzzah! A needed chocolate fix
Give us the quick fix
The easy way out
A heady dose of
Instant gratification
And we'll forget about
The intellectual annihilation
Of sixty second news
On BBC Three
Then prime-time karaoke
From deadbeats on ITV
