Quarrelsome lover
Is it safe for me to return to our bed?
Will the tension be a thorn in my back?
Do neither of us have a throat big enough to swallow our pride?
Did you think I'd cave in if I saw you cry?
That your tears would be my kryptonite?
Didn't I warn you against taking advice from your mom?
Has she ever been right?
I still think you're wrong but I cannot stand to sleep apart,
So I'll bring my pillow and humility,
And share a bed with you even if it's just for tonight.
I really hate it when we fight.

bashful buzzards behaving beautifully
curious calves cavorting in the corn
definitive ducks digesting division
eager elephants eliciting excitement
frenzied freckled frogs freely frolicking
greasy green grubworms groveling and grimacing
harried hyenas hectically hopping hopefully
ignorant iguanas ignoring the implausible
jubilant jackals jiggling jiffy jewelry
kayaking kangaroos kibitzing in Kenya
liberal llamas liberating little Libya
miniscule musical mollusks making merry
nine nervous newts nibbling newtons
orangutangs orchestrating outdated Ohio
pressurized primates providing privacy
quarrelsome quails quizzing quahogs
resurrected roosters receiving riotous relatives
sassy seasoned sea serpents sallying forth in secret
tantalizing tarantulas tasting tree lined treats
understated urchins undoing underwater ugliness
visible vixens vibrating toward victory
wily wise walruses whistling in water wrecks

Quarrelsome neighbours are the worst
Rage bubbles and screams of obscenities escalated

kibitzing kinesthetic killers from Zion
lollygagging like lively luxurious mountain lions
marvelously marking multitude of mini monkeys
notoriously noting nefarious nodules of displease
ostentatiously opening overt outages in Oregon
providing panda putrid prey Paul just spit on
quarrelsome quicksand quail
rapidly reading registered mail
saying sassing sentences swiftly
turning terrific tarantulas toenails thickly
utilizing underwater undercurrents down under
verifying valid villans' voluptuous plunder
with wild willingness and witchy wonder

yelling youngster’s yips on front of the queen
zinging zealous zealots into zebras galore

jiggling juggernaut jockeyed judo
katie’s Korean kitties killed with kudos
lively llamas listened, learning Latin
Mischievous miscreants misused satin
Needless nimble noodles kneaded themselves
Opulence and opals were seen in land of elves
Paralyzed parlor poodles paraded past purple pails
Quarrelsome queens quickly collected quick quails
Mingled with the rural soil of Nazareth, he laboured
He played with the rustics, who were quarrelsome yet loving.

Each herb, shrub, plant, tree, bloom, fruit, and weed imparted him wisdom.
He drew, by his love, each creature towards Abba's kingdom.
Seagulls
winged scavengers
cleaning coastal waters
loud, extremely quarrelsome birds
scroungers.
It is a comforting thought that
there will always be ducks in our neighborhood.
Every decade of my life
there have always been Mallards,
though not many fancy ducks.
You can rely on Mallards to be the same,
not just in appearance, but in a certain duckiness,
a characteristic-ness.
When I was young Mallards
were just the same as they are now;
the ducklings have not changed either.
You might think I am being ridiculously obvious,
you might suppose me to be simple-minded,
but at age 74 it is most comforting
to know that something
as lovable, quarrelsome,
and irascible
as a Mallard duck has not changed.
A fire goes out for lack of wood;
when whispers ceased, neither quarreling could.
As hot embers fanned bring flames to life,
a quarrelsome man so kindles strife.
