Pushups Poems

Premium MemberWondering about Goats

nanny goats eat grass and leaves of trees
wild mountain goats stand on rocks with ease
tiny pygmy goats know how to climb up trees
frumpy milking goats give product away with ease
long-eared goats look as weird as bumblebees
wonder if army goats do pushups from their knees?

Premium MemberTeeniest Human Like Robot

The teeniest human-like robot is six inches tall
Half the length of a standard ruler
she can walk, kick and do pushups
I understand the value of walking
we can watch her walk down the desk
Kicking might come in handy if she meets a mean pencil sharpener
But why would a robot need to do a push up?
Techno weenies amaze me in their odd thinking

Premium MemberHappy Birthday To Me

One hundred pushups every morning,
followed by breaking my fast with some healthy nutrition.
My outdoor activities involve miles of walking.
My indoor activities are pretty much the same thing,
however, the average observer would probably see me as nervously pacing,
but I'm not, I'm just getting my walking exercise in.
I daily practice transcendental meditation,
and when I sleep, I practice lucid dreaming.
I am either working on a poem or some invention.
Rarely do I have idle time on my hands,
and as a result, my creative process continues to expand,
whether I'm at home or on a wilderness trail endlessly hiking,
taking advantage of that time to do some external thinking.
I feel just as vibrant as I've ever been.
So happy birthday to me.
Today I reached the age of seventy,
and I'm still giving many much younger than I, a run for their money.

Premium MemberDid You Enjoy It

Off-season training
    running, lifting weights
  Grueling workouts
    we loved to hate

  Pre-season practices
    10 pushups per lay-up missed
Wind sprints brought on the blisters
Complain? ~ from the team dismissed

  Then came the league games
    the chances for glory
No post-season without a winning record
lose too many, 'twas the end of the story

A question nobody asked back then, 'Did you enjoy it?'
Looking back, I'm glad I played, but ~ 'not even a whit!'

Weeds
                                pesky, noxious
                           reach, creep, agitate
              dandelions, plantain, tulips, daffodils
                        assemble, restore, thrive
                              sterling, arresting
                                         Buds

Premium MemberA Mighty Man Was I

I was once alive,
Within this plane of existence.
Displaying my mighty fighting skills
Flowing like water, I hit as hard as a rock.
How their radiant eyes gleamed,
Watching me, observing me.
Viewing my furious battles between thee,
I sink low to dodge my opponents.
Buzzing in fighting stance as a bumblebee.
And I bring one down in a death-defying grip,
I aim towards the heart, with a loud warrior scream
“You must be like water,” I tell them.
Adaptable to change was I
Remember the movie Fist of Fury?
Moving with grace I do not leave a trace
Coming from all angles,
Never was I once defeated.
I jump and kick with such magnitude
A look of serenity remains on my face,
I land like a cat, waiting to attack
I sprawl down on the ground and complete two finger pushups
Forcefully yet calmly, showing the world what I can do.
I embrace my strength and you should too.
I stand up against all odds
I live on
Fight your own inner battles
I live on
You use your sharp jabs and spinning kicks
I live on in an unseen world.

Premium MemberBaby Panda Doing Push Ups

there is nothing cuter that I have found
than a panda baby doing a pushup
except maybe a baby goat hopping around
or a baby fawn who has a hiccup

I truly have to retract my steps here.
A panda baby doing pushups fills me with cheer.
Nothing cuter I have ever seen
I pronounce her the cutest uplifter I have ever seen.

Premium MemberAdmirable a B Owl

That is Admirable A.B. Owl to you the man said.
Buckets of medals must have gone straight to his head.
The rest of us rolled our eyes behind his arrogant back.
We were privates and sergeants, his experience we lack.

However, we know that the little guy is an owl too.
We are kind and respectful. Our commissions long overdue.
The witches are coming to inspect us in a minute for their force.
We are trying to look grown, but we are only eighteen of course.

On Halloween night I expect you to all to snap to attention,
Admirable A.B. Owl said, without a second of dissention.
We all knew the rules, but we kept our beaks shut.
We did not want to get relegated to the solitary hut.

The goblins may come with an owl – one or two.
They like to play tricks but here’s what we’ll do.
We’ll ignore their antics, and not act like we care.
Hey! They are coming right now, flying into our air.

We were gob smacked at how fast these entities flew in.
One of the witch grazed me hard on the ear and the chin.
I let out a wail that was loud as all sin.
That will be a thousand pushups the Admiral said without grin.

Premium MemberCute Witch With Heart of Gold

There was a cute witch with a heart of gold.
She always wanted to please which never got old.
She was pretty and smart. A happy child too.
When she was around no one was blue.

If zombies or goblins or mummies were about.
They minded their manners, were certainly no lout.
Because she had made friends of all of them in the gully.
They knew better to tease, torment or bully.

She was an upstander. She stood up and asked people to stop
If they tried to be mean to anybody, she made them drop.
They would have to do a thousand pushups and apologize.
That’s a lot, and they had to do it before the next sunrise.

So the ones who did not get it for a while were awfully thin.
They had to do those pushups again and again.
But the ones who understood used words of polite.
At least until upstander cute witch was way out of sight.

Fit Covid-19

Pushups and planks
Now armpits stank.

Roping and jumping
Outdoors I'm loving

Kicking and punching
Tension and stress I'm releasing

Netflix on house arrest
Sunshine and fresh air, I confess

Kissed by the sun
Just vying for some fun

Social distancing
Nature I'm embracing

Mellifluous birds I hear
Living with no fear

Quarantine commanding
God's word, I'm standing

Repetitions

Pushups until I can't feel anymore
I lose count and let the tears hit the floor
Pain and crying, the only two ways I feel alive
I've learned to strive and not just get by

I'm thankful that I've learned to cope
Instead of hiding, dying on the inside
Slitting your wrists just leaves scars
Reminding you of how hurt you are
And late nights will only kill you slowly
Drink after drink at the bar

These days I don't run from my problems
These days I don't try to forget
I let my body ache
I run and run until I see daybreak

Lace up my shoes
And hit the pavement
Knowing I don't have to run from my guilt
Because I have God's forgiveness

I push my body til it gives
At least it's a healthy way to live
It's been years since I quit smoking, drinking, doing drugs
And yeah I sometimes still feel numb

So I get down on my knees and pray
Then do pushups until the pain fades
Now I do repetitions..
Instead of repeating my mistakes

Poetic Block

The Titles in your mind but the words don't process through your pen as if you just went internally blind.

With a ballpoint sword in your hand ready to carve legible hieroglyphics on to a sheet of paper you've engraved the name of your work yet you can't even write the first word.

You try to clear your mind and gather your thoughts but all hear echoing in your mind is, tick tock scribble scrabble cockadoodle doo, why is this little lizard doing pushups in front of me challenging me to a dual ?

Even as I gaze to the keys on this phone ah look an emoji in the shape of a globe damn it I'm still mentally preoccupied, Sighs to hell with it maybe tomorrow I'll write poetic gold. ©™

The Tale of Sandy the Snail

This is the tale of Sandy the snail...
Who always wore her hair in a ponytail...
She was different from others and I’m sure you’ll agree...
As her colors were bright neon fluorescent green you see...
She wasn’t content just moving slow...
She wanted to run like a Marathon Pro...
Up early each morning...
When the Sun arose...
She did pushups, pull ups and touched her toes...
Alas... it was then she realized this was futile...
As everyone knows...
If she had feet, she would be more mobile...
