A few years ago
An angel brought me into this world.
And peace was all I felt
In her loving embrace, as I sat curled.
To step into a world so big
I was so scared.
But it was with that angel’s support
That I dared.
Strong she has always stood
Trying to protect me from all evil.
Her unshakable confidence in me
Gives me the strength to go ahead with what I will.
Today I understand her scoldings
Were nothing but love in disguise.
And seeing me improve she smiled
And for me, there couldn’t have been a bigger prize.
Since always, that angel has taken pains for me
Stood by me through thick and thin.
I can’t imagine my life without her
If not for her, I don’t know where I’d been.
I admire her for her strength.
I admire her for her patience.
For showering her unconditional love on me,
Even after bearing all of my impatience.
I wish to be like her some day.
To make her feel proud of me.
To fulfill all the dreams
That she has seen for me.
Today, I thank that angel
For her love and blessing
For being my support
For being my star guiding
For providing me, all these years,
With her protective cover
She is my inspiration,
MY ANGEL, MY MOTHER.
It took a while to find their love
And a peaceful style of living
More love blessed from up above
The more that they were giving
Together always staying true
One day after the other
Simply saying, "I love you"
Formed a protective cover
Then stubbornly, time unfurled
It rushed by, with no sound
Each then passed to a new world
With this lasting love they found!
Oh brolly, why do you despise me so
Just when I need you, when the wind and rain, do blow
You turn me upside down, when you turn inside out
Always well behaved Indoors but once you hear me shout
You know your just what I needed, to stay high and dry
Once the rain and wind do come, you decide to fly
Now you are inside out with broken spines all bent
Your protective cover is tattered and torn, the rain will not relent
The reason that I purchased you, was to keep me dry and warm
Come on brolly , do your job, gve me shelter from the storm
You lifted me from the shelf
Looked at my cover
Made a judgment on what was inside
Decided to spend some time
You explored my thoughts
Flipped through my pages
Bent my corners
Underlined my words
Dampened my paper with your tears
Pondered me
Laughed along my lines
I felt loved
Understood
Appreciated
I heard you sigh
Oh how I enjoyed our time together
The smell of your coffee
The rhythmic sound of your breathing
The feel of your hand caressing my pages
You closed my protective cover
Smiled
Placed me on your coffee table
Close at hand
I gladly wait
To spend more time
With you my friend.
I have always thought the books I have read have felt like friends.
I have a hard time discarding books, I am even more loyal with friends.
Being here at the soup has blessed me with many new friends, I thank
you all for removing me from the shelf and taking time to read my pages.
Back away if you want silence;
Loud! I'm louder than the
loudest clap of thunder
Fiery lightening lights up the
sky;
A shield
The storm my protective cover.
Back away if you want calm,
Charged! I'm filled with the
energy
Of this electric storm
The power ringing in the air
My shield Singed
I am charged, I stand strong.
