Past tense spoke it was you because it knew
future tense will say surely you until
daylight disappears into the sunset,
where melodies of starlit angels flew
with every note of joy from Poet’s quill,
forever two in heaven’s own duet.
Present tense says we are in a struggle
to find that which makes the two of us trill
in harmonic peace with celestial view,
perhaps with freedom from mortal trouble,
but real life needs working through .
Many are the present tense;
Mostly humbly passive glance;
Morbid finds casual stance;
Mainly passing visions glance;

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr.2023?
The Forever I Feared
David J Walker
The Forever I feared
would last
Three years
Before I knew
The Army wasn’t really
Meant to be forever
Or was it?
Or is it?
As I try and write
It’s past explanation again
Where I am
Or have been
In the prose of perfect since
In the cadence of marching
Backward into
The perfect future tense
Shake me with worry and rattle me with expectations
As you would under a tree
Rip me open to see what my shell holds
Behold, not what you expected is it?
Cry to your family and explain to them what you were hoping for
Maybe they can exchange me for something else
Or maybe you will learn to love me
The sky's are filled with winds of rain.
That fill my eye's with stains of pain.
And leave my soul soaked to the bone.
As I pretend I'm not alone.
Somewhere in life so long ago.
I learned something I'll never know.
The reason why some hearts are lost.
And true love in the trash gets tossed.
The story's told so many ways.
Of who's at fault and which side pays.
Sometime's it just does not make sense.
And leaves us with a present tense.
In courts of judgement in the press.
We find that it's any one's guess.
Who gets to stay, who has to leave.
Who gets to live, who has to grieve.
Maybe's the question no one knows.
Conclusion says that's how it goes.
But one side wins and one side loses.
And leaves us wondering just who chooses.
Note: This is about how I felt about the county dictating my life to me. But like I said earlier, in hindsight for the most part. This episode in my life was a necessary intervention. And I am grateful for it in the end. <3
Ate my favorite cookie
walking to the bathroom,
didn't enjoy it.
Thinking about my upcoming
vacation was better
than living it.
Caught myself rushing
to meditation class,
thought about it.
Clicked my alarm to pause
wanted more time,
I missed it.
Argued with my friend
never happens again,
I did it.
Savoring a chocolate delight
looking for more,
I'd ate it.
Stay present.
Lighten up.
It seems
my past
is everything
I failed to be.
I am
a product
of my past
not a prisoner
of it.
I will
not be
stuck in a labyrinth
thinking I'll
escape one day.
However, the clock ticks
hours pass
the past reverberates
the future recedes.
If the present
changes the past
looking back
I did not find
what I left behind.

don’t hurry today...surrender to the present tense of thanksgiving!
