Listen to poem:

The Forever I Feared

The Forever I Feared
David J Walker

The Forever I feared
would last
Three years
Before I knew
The Army wasn’t really
Meant to be forever
Or was it?
	Or is it?
As I try and write
It’s past explanation again
Where I am
		Or have been
In the prose of perfect since
In the cadence of marching
	Backward into
The perfect future tense
