Preachers Poems

STOP

Pundits preachers politicians
you may see
attorneys too
and even agree with me
I think you'll find
all have an agenda
with an axe to grind
lining their pockets
feathering their nest
keeping their cards
close to the chest
saying one thing
doing another
I'd take 'em out and shoot 'em
if I had my druthers
and then there's censorship
where one man's word rules the roost
to remain silent would be
a gag order self-induced
Bricusse and Newley had it right
when they wisely wrote
'Stop the world, I want to get off!'

“And for what, except for you,
do I feel love”
Wallace Stevens

Concealed in full view
there are sanctuaries where you
can go when the shrill noise
of politicians, preachers and prophets
gets too loud - the quiet
of a morning wearing a glossy melt
of frost honeyed in the glow of first light -
forest trails winding
under the whispers of tall trees -
a shoreline slowly emerging
from the stillness of a thick fog
as if it were letting go of a dream
and at the end of the street,
a place in the mind where a poem
frees itself from gravity
and with frail wings
lifts itself towards love.

Slumlords and Christians

I
When my landlord is a slumlord
The sermons also mock God
"There but for Grace go I"
Helps see a plank in my eye

II
Here, no exposing of hypocrisy
Makes a difference to men, women, me:
Sex and money, sex for food -- for lazy
Is the South African -- post-Mandela's day**

Note**
27 April 1994 was the first democratic election in South Africa, RSA, making winner Nelson Mandela both president & freedom's icon. 28 years on, people sometimes prefer welfare, begging, crime - while immigrants run many small businesses, even in remote towns. Easy money has ruined Mandela's nation (it is mine, too, as I am native South African). If one Google's/ searches "loadshedding, RSA" or/AND "minimal Utilities," the declines are given another slant. Power brownouts on New Year's day, also.

Nigerian Preachers and Scary Sermons

Till tomorrow a nasty style
Nigerians stretch a bold mile:
Sermons which begin with obituary
And proceed to The Mortuary…

The Waiting Choice of Deaconess Emmanuela
Seeking and discovering The Best Umbrella
For mandating sinners’ fastest repentance
Of deeds that might no more clinch penance.

Also, of Pastor Prince at war with Theological Schools,
Because break a preacher could one or two rules…

I simply pray Prince won’t this try in London
For a Whole Assembly shall him abandon:
Spiritual messages of the scary;
Tales Gospel – like but still fairy.

Religious Robbery

Teach religion with your way of life
not with the word of mouth
preach religion with your practices
don't practice religion with preachings

I was told to give to the temple
yet the temple never gave to me
can a man rob God? oh foolery!
how can we rob a man we cannot see

how can you rob a poet of his poem
when even the best poems
are yet to be written and the best lines
are yet to be straightened

I have seen religious clerics
and preachers of deceitful charity
walk pass the poor with pockets filled
yet not a single dime given out

Oh peters, don't seek me with prayers
come to me with silver and gold
whenever I come to you for prayers
you seek my silver and gold

whenever you want to raise high
your pillars and enlarge your tent
you seek the little token I have to give
then send me to God when I need mine

Premium MemberThree Women Ordained By One

In pools of many colors, as vast as salts and sea,
It, streams in proximity to you and me
It is Endless Source most healing;
Spoken of by matriarchs, past and new.

Faith, grace, and mercy stood as firm as,
The hands of time, that stretches beyond the blue -
A Super star from Galilee knew this so well;
The woman at the well was to go tell...
The Source of all things made well, quenches thirst.

She preached and teach like artist with The Word,
Haven't you heard?
She mounts mercy to pedestal the color of kindness
She's a bouquet of grace to the human race
She's faith, like seed of hope planted in our dreams -
The feeble is emboldened, one, by one, by one.

Premium MemberThe Feet Of Them

THE FEET OF THEM

How beautiful are the feet of them,
the pillars of strength, and stance of him,
the hands, the smile and face of him,
who brings to us good news.

How lovely are the voices of them,
the song, the Word, the sound of him,
the message of grace and love of Him,
sending them who brings good news.

How precious the hoary heads of them,
the glory of the Lord of them,
the birth, the life, and death of them,
who brings to us good news.

False Preachers Prayer

Money consceous in precise.
It's a bone thrown to domesticated dog,
My whole life was set on clock,
Narrow way wasn't part of my want...
Broadway was a prioritised sort,
Fire in my heart shows Golliath size,
Nobody knew David would be in God's eyes,
In spite of leading classy trites,
Those mindset later got rot,
Smoke from coals couldn't permit me to tie a knot,
Obsessed with pride,
Led innocent men to evenly backslide,
Holy scriptures for staunch believers,
Mine was published with fellow deceivers,
The spiritual babes get enticed to scheme lullaby,
The truth, how many of them is ready to buy?
Our living is likened to the adventist of ghost Apes,
We hunt for corpse in caves,
Without thinking of ours in graves,
Home of tribulation will I enjoyed divine pain,
That's when nothing will be left to slain,
God please hold me from the prey,
For in you will I be saved.

Potty Mouth Preachers

I'll tell you about something that is rotten to the core.
When outside of church, some preachers cuss like sailors.
My friend saw some of these preachers who like to cuss.
They should be ashamed, preachers are supposed to set an example for the rest of us.
When they cuss, they anger God because it's like slapping him in the face.
Morality is not their strong point, what they're doing is truly a disgrace.
Out of all of the people in the world, preachers are the ones who should never swear.
Those preachers are not God fearing people and it is just too much for me to bear.
This makes me angry and Jehovah God and I are both filled with disgust.
It proves that the world is lost when we see preachers who we can't trust.

(Sadly, this is a true story.)

Preachers Are a Cure For Insomnia

(Written after seeing President Clinton sleeping during a sermon)

Preachers Are a Cure for Insomnia

By Elton Camp

Most of them tend to drone on and on
Long after audience interest is gone

What they say all have heard before
And don’t want to hear it anymore

But custom demands that they pretend
To enjoy every word right to the end

A sleepy hubby a wife can’t abide
And rams her elbow into his side

But when a fellow is there all alone
Into a nap he far too easily is gone

If he happens to be a person of fame,
He’s caught on camera in his shame

Few of us haven’t done the same way
So “Tut, tut” we have no right to say

Punching Preachers

two bible-blabbering, prattling pastors

   from two denominational sectors

      ended up in stitches and bloody plasters;

those around said it actually began

when one yelled, "faith alone can save a man!",

      the other screamed, "only charitable acts can!";

swinging bulky bibles, shouting curses,

they whacked each other's eardrums and noses,

      bludgeoned and bloodied their righteous faces;

so ironic, how they maimed each other

for faith, for charity and didn't bother

to heed the Lord's words: "Love one another."
