Politicians, Preachers and Prophets

“And for what, except for you, do I feel love” Wallace Stevens Concealed in full view there are sanctuaries where you can go when the shrill noise of politicians, preachers and prophets gets too loud - the quiet of a morning wearing a glossy melt of frost honeyed in the glow of first light - forest trails winding under the whispers of tall trees - a shoreline slowly emerging from the stillness of a thick fog as if it were letting go of a dream and at the end of the street, a place in the mind where a poem frees itself from gravity and with frail wings lifts itself towards love.

Many thanks Jan for your comments...the offenders all sound the same, interchangeable invaders of peace and quiet. Return hugs dear Jan.

Amen! ... And the imagery is so inviting. Can't wait to get away from the shrill shrews of chicanery! ~ Gershon

Thankyou Gershon for your comments. Unfortunately communication technology these days is so invasive and loud...I constantly hit the off button. Take care my friend.

A sanctuary free of mud-slinging voices of politicians, the shrill redundancy of Bible quoting preachers, and prophets telling people they will be doomed… Not even the soup is such a place where poets are often inundated with religion. Everything in moderation and everyone has a right to their beliefs but not when so many seem averse to it. Yes, I believe in God but I don’t try to spread the good news on people who are not interested. Paul, lines 6-8 are poetic perfection.

Hi Lin, your comments strike a sympathetic chord...I don't take kindly to loud, opinionated and bloated types who claim sole rights to the truth...give me doubt any day over delusional certitude. As always, a delight to get your blessing...take care, Paul

False promises, illusions of grandeur, sales gimmicks, it all gets old after a bit. But for me, I can find quiet and peace sitting in my big chair with my coffee and the sun filtering through my window blinds... whilst reading from my Bible the rock solid promises of a better, secure future
