As if by magic the words appear
like gentle whispers that I hear
they blend together like perfect paint
sometimes whispering ever so faint.
With each brush stroke or tip of pen
the magic flows like peaceful Zen
ink pirouettes upon my page
like a Prima ballerina upon her stage.
Stanzas created as words come to play
forming together like poetic ballet
sometimes moving with beautiful grace
sometimes running to another place.
Words dance and slowly unfold
like a ballet story that needs to be told
starting with a Plie, done with ease
Poems form and aim to please.
There may be days you want to stop
just like The Nutcracker was once a flop
but now it’s famous, shared worldwide
so keep on writing, chasse or glide.
Let words appear without the strain
gently does it, you don’t want pain
Choreography & dance all take time
never rush performance or rhyme.

A lithe performer with Cirque d’Soliel
First much oiled herself with Oil of Olay,
Then practiced her intense high wire plie
While clad only in a grand floral lei.
Her act was a graceful mid-air ballet
After, she rode off in a silver sleigh
Driven by a group of leprechaun fey
Audiences shouted a Spanish ole,
Overall, an awesome performance, eh?

confussion and frustration
made the task a chore
it favored longety which
at first evaluation
of the work had been ignored
in referance to the group
we were straong and committed
but in labor
we were divided
and uncommitted.
I felt cheap and used
like a man who wished
more attention from his
lover.
I must sort the collected
bunch
to then label and
make inventory
according to fiber strenght
and stone value
monodisperse silca
and kenaf ramie
Corundum Degelman i
curses these stones
a plie high to the ceiling.
Gneiss Schulte I curse
these men that labor
me in such reeling
Titanium Zirconium
that I must crush the valueless stones
and sort those of vsalue
must i chore
that they are evasive and lazy
that I must labor alone

I once knew a girl from Sheboygan
She danced with a Wisconsin clan
She tried a deep plie
On a lovely June day
And promptly said, “I don't think I can!”

The tale Tchaikovsky wove that day
Lives on and on upon a stage
Spun by pirouettes ...and plie's
An epic story of love conveyed
Through the beauty of ballet
Prince Siegfried and his Queen Odette
Who gave their lives without regret
To live forever bound together
As beautiful birds of a feather
As two swans upon a lake

pronounced Plee ay

Rain polka dots
the limestone church
in a spray of champagne
as throngs of ballet slipper camellias
plie like marionettes
with crystal strings
to heavy drops
on an emerald lawn
of rice tosses.
Rows of braided Lavender
sway to Spring's accordion gusts
just as far-off fields of shamrock
jettison rose poppies
into glistening air.

This old mind works in very strange ways
Conjures up images of me doing the plié
So graceful and sweet
So light on my feet
An overweight Baryshnikov, not as graceful some say

I know the five positions
(In ballet – don’t get all hot!)
Plus plie and pirouette
But all the rest I plum forgot.
I didn’t have a tutu
But a leotard? Perhaps.
My memory is dimming
And I’m left with just the scraps.
Most likely, I attended
Very briefly, very young,
So a few balletic moves
The only knowledge that has clung.
Was there really a Miss Ricky?
Guess there’s no way I could know
For my ballerina days were over
Many years ago.

BREAKFAST AT VAUGHN'S
"...there are none like thee
among the dancers;
none with swift feet." Ezra Pound, "Dance Figure"
One has seen more than she cares
to tell and would cry if she knew how.
Another banters, known, knows the men,
flirts with "Moonlight Mauve" eyes
and lips hued with the insufficiency of love.
But you, sure at sixteen,
jete', plie', glisse' in the air,
heady with the musk of cooking,
coffee and the day's first cigarettes,
endure the rank flatteries
of rude mechanics in greased stripes
hunkered over your counter,
forking food into their mouths
while their knuckle-rubbed eyes
caress your pas-de-seul.
