palsy walsy was a pine
standing in the forest fine
one of a kind, one of a kind
I felt he had a brilliant mind

If only you could see
the forest for the trees
it would feel so good
for then as an evergreen
you'd be out of the woods
and if you cared for me
going out on a limb
tho' not on bended knee
I'd ask you to become
a branch of my family
so near and yet so far
you touched me to

Forever Green: Needles And Cones

Blubber, don’t
Bloober.

Blibber, don’t
Blabber.

Nothing -- is Greater than
Blue — fake Green
and Its smell;
Sharp Needles --
forever, to,
Ever.

Held In their
long -- Immense
Arms,
full of Fake
Cones.

of gold-smeared skies
pressed within 
       oil-washed layers
of breathing
                melancholy
as leaves curled in
cashmere greens
         trace 
condensed contours 
between

In the deep spiked pine forests

On a walk you forgot you took

Snow up your knees

Twenty feet away

An enormous old house

Not abandoned, smoke from the chimney

Large windows, dark wood walls

A forest castle here for you 

To explore perhaps

Eyes flash pink with sun light 

Through the unlocked door 

In the main hall

Taste the dust

 Ancient carvings everywhere

A cough from upstairs

Death of a Pine

Adopted early after birth
Replanted back into the earth
From small to tall, a tiny root
Withstanding all and resolute

It whispered and it whistled
Every wind song that it knew
It's verdant needles bristled
Glistening in frost and dew

A friend to all both large and small
Seeking refuge in it's shade
To rest and recline, to the fresh smell of pine
And a songbird

Never dying in the winter
Just like the ones I knew
But these ones are different
Because the sky's are more blue
They only make me think of you
Dark shade of green matches your T-shirt
And the brown matches your eyes
And the pines never die
Just like the thought of you in my mind

I love the winter, the way it whirls my breath
Away; reminds me I am alive, there's hope.
I love the ferns bejeweled in snow, the heath
As it patterns our legs, walking forest-roads.
I love the spring, that washes snow away,
Brings flowers, strong roots, fragile and pale-
Seeming. I love the summer, storm-blaze
Lazy lightning, theater of stars, golden corn

Glistening, dazzling
Whispering gentle
Colorful ribbons
Pines, sentimental
Christmas miracles

Lovely spirit
Blessing our hearts
Silent night heard
Winds blowing hope

Christmas bells
Carols sung
Merry souls

Spices
Winter

Joy

Twisted Pine

Formed from the sinew
Of the twisted pine
That bends to the wind
On the mountainside
In the summer glare
And the winter snows
Where the temper flares
Where the temper cools –

And in strength you grew
In twists and knots
On the alpine edge
Of a thousand rocks - 
Sound of limb and lung
And of sturdy foot
For your Mother Earth 
Where you cling barefoot
With

Gentle Creature

Gentle Creature

Who calls you forth 
from beneath, 
the hung pine?

Eyes of black coal,
gentle swaying body,
watching, curious, 
step forward. 

Spotted coat. 
Horn moles of bone,
siblings brush past, play. 
You nuzzle the sweet grass.

A twig snaps, 
ears flicker, you stop.
A soft bleat, 
Mother's call.

Back to the arms 
of the pine
safe within 
the flora of green.

Pine Tree

I wait by the tallest green pine tree.
I wait for him to set me free.

The Pine in Winter

Maple and Oak must to Fall     obey.
Shedding their leaves to colder winds, they die.
The greenness of a Pine endures to stay,
tall, living branches pointed to the sky.
Gusty storms will test in every way.
But the mighty Pine’s defense none can defy.

    A few scattered yellow wood cabins
       a swimming pool surrounded by pines
    
    a pier to fish from, a lake not to go in
       ‘cept for the stinkpots* and sailboats
