Premium MemberThe dog barked a bit too much

The dog barked a bit too much, too often
Oftentimes engendering a response from others
This annoyed the owners of the barking dogs.
In an effort to stop their dogs from barking
They petitioned the owner of the instigator.
A Bark arrest collar was employed as a solution.
When the house was broken into and robbed
There were questions as to why the dog did not bark
“Because we didn’t want him to wake the neighbor’s dogs.”

Prepare for Rain

A tale I once heard of two men of the land,
who’s lives were defined by the toil of their hands.

Each man was beholden to God for increase
so, when the time came that the precious rain ceased,

each fell to his knees and petitioned the Lord
to open the heavens and let the rains pour.

While one sat and looked to the skies for reprieve,
the other got up and walked down to the stream

and moved boards and built dams, again and again,
doing all he that could to prepare for the rain.

So now in my life I consider this tale
each time that I stumble or falter or fail,

for I know that the Lord all my prayers will sustain…
so long as I rise and prepare for the rain.

With hern mitts up

      Hern firm

The View From Ceres

A big blue marble, floating in the middle of nowhere like a tiny attractive spark.
Its shimmering light penetrates the darkness of space like a candle in the dark.
How perfectly it has been placed in space, one inch closer to the sun and we would burn, once inch farther away we would freeze.
This wondrous place comprised of rock, water, air and soil supports life in so many various degrees.

How I so desired, how I petitioned and asked to make the journey and stay for a layover.
Thus, have been blessed to traverse this wonderous earth on a mission to elevate and roam as a lunar land rover.
I give all glory, honor, power, and respect to God within from which all things were created.
Remembering when I received confirmation of being granted passage to earth, I was absolutely elated.

Given the opportunity to Help mother Gaia to heal.
Given a conscience and freedom of choice and speech, never to anyone having to Neel.
Given gifts to improve on and to enhance and share so as to never have to steal.
Given assurance that the birds are always fed and never do we need to worry over our next meal.

Rebirth

Reborn here now without baggage,
you are gifted midst distinction,
referred by divine tutelage,
ne'er stray from His homing beacon.

Your external chapters have changed,
reborn here now without baggage,
verse by verse you are petitioned,
The Word, wills you, to acknowledge.

Keep the faith helps to encourage,
goodwill build trusts and open doors,
reborn here now without baggage,
your light on the hill, new soul scores.

Shine o'er the realm, your rebuilt home,
dawn birthrights, 'tis be your New Age,
unshackled and weightless to roam,
reborn here now without baggage.

Premium MemberMonsters of the Sea

A contracted seafarer...concerning no servile rank,
kept e'er involved watch...away from menial daily tasks top deck,
while steadfast wary of...the diligent taskmaster's whip.

A dawn swift gust...brushes the ship from a rocky pillar,
duly rallies from rest...aids calamitous bellows from crow's nest,
witnessed by crew...rose an angel disguised with devil horns.

Seawater laps feverishly...against ship's wooden hull,
as panic over breed minds...once sturdy legs go feebly about,
cascading thoughts grips privately...every man for himself.

Another abrupt action...frees a churning sea expounds,
and an opening hole...devouring anything within its midst,
as desperation consumes...a ship has long met its doom.

A lone selfless soul of limited else...moved past the lost,
and hastily clutched a burdened javelin...and hoist it upwards,
with his petitioned combined strength...released the deadly blow.

Her dying scream...was drowned out by restored happy voices,
and a wealth of well-wishes and praises...honoring accolades,
as lone eyes of a humble sort...gaze a siphoning pass.

holy haunting
            a heavenly CHORUS

all called to mind

silent supplicating
             meditations aloud
             in thanksgiving

all called to mind

acclamations
             prayer petitioned
             in paralleled poetics

all called to mind

temple tunes
            sanctuary songs
             in mellow melody

all called to mind

The Correct Wright Answer
By: Tom Wright
2-18-2008

Oh, if I could only change incidents past
Hurtful memories from my mind I’d rid
A curse, from teen years, on me was cast
A curse unwanted, on which I did not bid

With this painful thing I continually wallow
Knowing we’ll be twins until I’m laid a grave
It’s impossible to change, accept, or swallow
Often, my thoughts have become its slave

I’ve petitioned the Lord to grant me relief
That I, through Him, might soon be at rest
It hasn’t happened, not because of unbelief
And though I’m tormented, God, knows best

Tom’s Surprise 80th Birthday Party
Haskell F.W.B. Church
12-5-2018

My spring of life contained pregnant clouds,
Almost as if suspended by parachute shrouds;
Now, winter has painted it with shades of grey,
But then, eighty years, has been a lengthy stay.
Now, last night, for me a surprise 80th birthday party,
Fellowship, gifts, and cake / cookies were hearty.
While it had my pulse at an undefined place,
I enjoyed these friends that shared my space;
For I found myself surrounded by friends who care,
Those who have petitioned God, for me, in prayer;
I owe long life to the living God that I’m serving,
I’m blessed and highly favored but undeserving.
My witness for Him will not become diminished,
Until such time that He declares my life finished.

Premium MemberBeauty

The basis of all beauty is hope,
It gives no cause to sadness...

The sight of beauty will never age the eye,
Its only reflection is from the face of others...

The Grace of beauty bathes the soul with purity,
It never exists until petitioned by an open heart...

     Beauty gives life to poetry,
We are as beautiful as we choose to be...

Premium MemberEnd of Songs

Another dead statistic dawns today,
Contempt dissolved foundations love astray.
   Malicious memories of miscarried mirth,
   Repetitious resolving rends rebirth.

Too far, too strange, oh we have now become.
Decisions bleeding passions cold and numb.
My frozen frigid feelings fade to black
   Behold the barracuda's bitter back.

Oblique sidewalks a house no longer home.
Neglect’s hand opened doors for needs to roam.
Bent and broken, beautiful bygone heart
Past promises play the party-line part.

Divided assets fighting custodies
New boxes cardboard tombs of memories.
    Separations and somber songs subside
   Choice-less children and contemptible chides.

Petitioned courts and mediation pleas
Sustaining into absolute decrees.
   Formerly favored family so forlorn.
   Forever festers feeble foolishness.

Premium MemberThe Ability To Let Go

Meribah means” quarreling”
Messah “testing”
Istraelites grumbled a lot
It was about the lack of water
Moses responded by scolding them for testing Eternal God

It only incited the people more
Threatened to kill him
Moses petitioned to Eternal God
Who supplies the water they need

When we complain about our less-than-satisfactory situations
Moses is not around to intercede
A bit of complaining maybe helpful; a lot is harmful

Get complains out by writing in journal
Grumbling to myself when I walk
This keeps me from continuing my inner griping endlessly
To prolong it would definitely harden my heart

When I stop complaining
Open up to the quiet presence of the Holy one
I don’t always receive water like the Istraelites
But I do obtain the ability to let go and live more peacefully

To Intercede the Importunate

Having fissioned the mind
To intercede the importunate
And petitioned wisdom inside
Idle and dissipated
As tremendous illusions
pervades the soul
The unsurpassed revolt of
capitulated distortions
A percussion of thoughts
That solicits affectations of such

Gods and Devils

And on the saddest day,
“Men” created “Gods”
bestowing upon them
the power to terrorize “men”,
reduce them to subservience, servitude.

“Men” worshipped these “Gods”,
begged them for fulfillment, forgiveness,
petitioned them for mercy.
Blamed the “Gods” for all things
good and bad, holy or evil,
for all that happens is
“the will of the “Gods”.”

“Men” fear their own “Gods”.
Cower silently, heads bowed, as those
who “represent the Gods” pass -
Grovel before the power of an
unseen “God” – before a “Man”.

The “Gods” created “Devils”
as a defense against the “Men”
who created the “Gods”. Declared
that all who questioned the
validity of the “Gods”, and their
powers, were - “Devils” -
therefore a manifestation of “Evil”.

Thus, the “Gods” and “Devils”
created by “Man” have conspired
to hold “Man” hostage, to punish
“Man” for having the audacity
to create such “Gods” and allowing
these “Gods” to create such “Devils”.

The Broken Hearts of Two Tykes

There's one thing about being a Policeman that I don't like.
Several months ago I had to break the hearts of two tykes.
Their parents had a car wreck and died.
After I told them, all three of us cried.
It broke my heart to see their sad faces when I gave them the bad news.
It's painful when people learn that their parents are what they're destined to lose.
They were going to be put in a foster home because they have no other relatives.
But my wife and I have a big house so we invited them to come here and live.
My wife and I were childless before.
But we're sure not childless anymore.
We petitioned the court for custody and won.
My wife is barren but now we have two sons.
