first mow of the year
this grass smells kind of funky
what’s this on my shoe

I have just made a startling observation -
with a bit of important information.
My cats really own the house.
(I'm sure you're thinking "How?")
Well, the term "homeowner"
contains the word "meow"!

It is most important to not hurt a cats soul
for it is the perfect balance
of nobility and ridiculousness,
be gentle with its finer feelings
they are more sensitive than yours.
Do be not laugh
if it scares itself in a mirror.
A cat is instinctual to the core,
a bewhiskered accolade of slapstick.
Clean its litter box, twice a day if need be.
It will refuse to poop on its own poop
unlike some humans.
Your cat needs attention,
it expects you to admire its coat,
its signaling semaphore tail,
its delicate pink tongue and beautiful eyes,
failure to do so
may result in fur balls in your bed.
Be warned
cats are not naturally forgiving.

Clown B has a cat who does marvelous tricks.
She can open cupboards and loves to do it.
The circus audience laughs at her abilities, but not at her.
She is a show off; her name is Princess.
She is treated like a queen.
She is well-loved, well-fed and spoiled.
She loves being in the circus, for she loves attention and children.
Clown C has a tiger who is not treated well.
He has never felt grass under his feet.
He was stolen from his mama as a baby.
No one gives him attention.
Sometimes they forget to feed him.
He gets loose and eats things he should not eat.
He is glad not to be in this world anymore.
But wishing he would have eaten his owner’s head now.

Walking down the countryside footpath,
Side stepping here and there,
Looking downwards as I go,
Missing the beauty all around me,
Only seeing what's left behind,
Bags thrown in the hedge and on the ground,
Trying not to step in what has not been cleaned,
It's not the scenery I want to see,
Dog walkers take your dogs doodoo's away.

Dogs are loved by their owners whenever
they get noticed: they’re cute and so clever.
Often though (it’s not fair!)
we forget they are there.
But do dogs forget us? Hell no — never!

We lay out our clothes so crisp and clean, sometime folded. Once in a while pressed.
Brush our teeth, wash our face, and return to see them clumped into a happy pet nest.
I am not just blaming dogs, I am talking about cats as well. I have had both.
We make jokes about their hair when we get to work, to file, and sort, and do boring stuff.
We see their hair all day long, sometimes tasting it in our soup, and we smile.
Glancing at the clock, wishing our time was done, so we could go home and nest with our pet.

River Sea Sign Owners or Bunch of Loners
River Sea has several signs out front
Which never was what any of us want;
About it, what is exactly being done?
With signs still setting there in the sun.
According to latest word we have heard
None of this should ever have occurred;
A couple of county rules were broke
And whole thing to us never was a joke.
No laughing matter has this ever been
And hope it will never happen again;
Of course, there always is a last resort;
Sigh owners should be taken to court

If only she could have come with a book,
That told me exactly how to use her,
Then her memory would not be a blur,
And I could have taken a second look.
I remember the effort that it took,
For me to get things the way that they were,
Only to have her mixed emotions stir
Up the feelings that kept me on the hook.
If only she had come with a check list,
That could have told me what I should have done,
Then I would not be forced to shake my fist
At these stormy clouds that have blocked my sun.
If I could have seen clearly through the mist,
I would not have lost what I had once won.

Sing praises
For the soup has returned
Its been to long
I’m glad it’s returned
A place for us poets that truly
love spill
A community of writing
at will
A family indeed
So thanks to the owners
To whom we like to feed
Our passions and reflections
our hopes and our dreams
Thank you
For bring us back to steam
