The Owners Manual

If only she could have come with a book,
That told me exactly how to use her,
Then her memory would not be a blur,
And I could have taken a second look.
I remember the effort that it took,
For me to get things the way that they were,
Only to have her mixed emotions stir
Up the feelings that kept me on the hook.
If only she had come with a check list,
That could have told me what I should have done,
Then I would not be forced to shake my fist
At these stormy clouds that have blocked my sun.
If I could have seen clearly through the mist,
I would not have lost what I had once won.

Excellent sonnet, Dakarai. I have a little sign that says, "Men Should Come with Instructions." Guess it's hard for all of us to figure out the thoughts and actions of the opposite sex. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, Carolyn
