Masquerade

Captured by your pageantry
Mask shielded identity
Bewitched my gallantry
 Stole my heart anonymously

Such mysterious glamour
Eerie yet intriguing
Speaking to my emptiness
Replacing all my loneliness

Extravagant mystery
Shadowy history
Surreal and dramatic
Ornately enigmatic

Your life a deceptive dance
Role played romance
Cloaked intentions
And social masks

Lavishly concealed
Make your backroom deals
Trading hearts like tokens
With words softly spoken

The masquerade illusion
The ultimate confusion
Love but allusion
Self-serving inclusion

Bitter truth unveiled
Torn landscape surveilled
Love’s victim impaled
Your manifesto nailed

To my soul

Aching Winds

I touched the sky, left the land
Dwindling in the galaxy, I felt your hand.
The Perseus sparkling through my eyes
The twilight fading between my cries.
Your hand helped me climb to my throne
Ornately beautiful, a kind of its own!
The clock turned by , my sorrows withered
The throne was my crown, your hand was my tether.
The glorious days passed, passed through my breathing agony
The Crown had started rusting, I heard some cacophony.
Your grip was getting stronger, my worries piled up
I wanted to let you go, the courage I could never muster.

My Thrown destroyed, my crown burnt
I am left with a heart ache, a morbid hunt.
Your hand has held me tighter since, I feel an urge
To hold it through my heart, but my tears put me on a searing verge.
I need some time, I need my guilt to seep through
But I cannot afford to lose your grip; Yes , It’s true!
I cannot leave your hand , you feel so close
But my past glory keeps questioning my roads.
I want to walk with you and not leap to the sky
I want to touch the land again, please help me try.

Premium Memberpainted ladies

painted ladies

over the years i have forgotten her eyes
that her smile was soft
and her hair like chiffon on a wednesday morning

we walked along stanyan street
celebrating the colors of a fall morning
listening to simon and garfunkel
and watching steam rise from beneath the street

the majesty of the painted ladies
on steiner street came alive as they stared us down
two lovers hand in hand
looking for a place to lay a blanket
in alamo square park

we must have looked bland
compared to their flamboyancy
queen anne archetecture—fancy and flashy
combinations of bay windows
from which lovers could be watched
jutting turrets and ornately decorated rooflines

even then, when i saw the brilliant pink
of a lady, i saw you, your lips, your smile
and of the blue, i saw your eyes, the sparkle
the laughing way they looked at me

yet i have forgotten the colors
and only the painted ladies
on steiner street remind me
of that morning
looking for a place to lay a blanket
in alamo square park

The Amazement of Wonder

Flashing and flickering lights on a large Ferris wheel
Ornately painted horses on an old circus carousel

Brightly colored balloons set free
Branches gracefully swaying on a willow tree

Children happily playing at a park
Glowing yellow dots from the fireflies in the dark

Kisses from a fuzzy puppy on my face
Shooting stars flying through space

The amazement of wonder shall always dwell within me
The world offers me such fascination in everything I hear, feel, and see

Premium MemberWhat does that bird think of me?

I wonder what that sparrow thinks of me,
As it flits so easily from branch to branch on tree,
While I’m stuck here earthbound, decried to strut all day.
A silly flightless biped with arms that only flap and flay.

Humans are naked beasts with clothes worn forlorn except at the beach.
Birds are ornately adorned in beautiful feathers, all over they reach.
Birds call and serenade each other with songs, chirps and trills,
With no need for endless verbiage and debate about bills and wills.

Birds thrill in joyous flocks soaring and swarming in formation,
While humans gather in angry crowds for fights in condemnation.
Somehow, I think that birds love to belittle and mock me,
For they're the ones, free to fly and frolic in fountains, carefree.

Premium MemberLost Subterranean City

lost subterranean city of the Grand Canyon
Fact, legend, Hopi story or cover-up?
In 1909 Arizona Gazette printed the story
A secret underground citadel a mile down
discovered by G E Kinkaid, a renown explorer
also the first white baby born in Idaho

the mysterious cavern was etched out in rock
shaped like the spokes of a wagon wheel
could have held up to fifty-thousand people
a highly evolved civilization, sharp-edged weapons
ornately decorated gold and copper cups
the multitude of mummies turned out to be male only

this could be the oldest archeological find in the USA
tablets were engraved with hieroglyphics
appeared to be a link between Egypt and Arizona
Hopi Indians claim their ancestors lived in such a city
Under the Grand Canyon
Hoax or truth? Smithsonian scientists believed it was true.

Out of Tune- It's Better To Be Different

The world seems to be discordant lately
The dawn carries with it something to be cherished ,
The mind buoyant with thoughts decorated ornately
Hidden somewhere in the terrains of my heart, already perished .
My mind's inarticulate cry to be heard
As neglected choices were left unmade,
Delaying them seemed to be a better option, I preferred
As my opinions were left unsaid.
The hesitation in lifting the veil of my creativity
Arousing a storm that might offend Others' belief
In my mind, held all day and night in captivity
I follow my ambitions to replace the grief.
For long my voice was hushed and could not find a way
But pulling me down will only make me become my better self They say .

Premium MemberThe Ides of March

Upon a sullied slate sky
of alabaster and aquamarine,
floats a formidable flotilla
of charcoal-colored clouds.
And on this mild, melancholy
mid-March day;
they dawdle, dribbling drops of rain
in sporadic Spring showers.
Winter's white wonderland
seasonally salted with brindled blotches,
magically melts away;
revealing rough-woven, ragged patches
of grassy green.
When Winter's weakened grip gives way,
bulbs freed from frosty tombs;
are awakened by the tap, tap, tap,
of April's tepid tears.
And straightaway,
snowdrops, crocuses, and tulips
suddenly start sprouting;
simultaneously sending shoots skyward.
Color taunts the blandness of this dull day
as a robin redbreast abruptly appears;
defying drizzling drops of grey
with its crimson chest,
ornately on display.

Oceananigans I and Ii

I.

Ode the thrill of a tango
curled in clutches sleek

Elegance, a prerequisite
Add on a spun euphoria

Nimble is a turgid swoon!

Arms conduct to the aria
New skin, feels no tocsin
It's deeply in a you and i
Glazed, to the tightening
and a strangling organza
Necked into a suffocation

So go the tunnel deaths…

(1/27/2021: '02 Silverton MY; Alameda ...contest theme was murder in the tunnel)

II.

Ornately, I gild over my days a’ la fresco
Carefully, I wield molten gold, enigmatic
Elaborate must these life undulations be
as metallic sheen screens all insipid aura
New cantankerous crack? Just weld upon
and smooth the jagged with flowing flora
Now the feckless plaster sparkles golden
I spurn mawkish, like the silvered literati
glossing my craven, to caverns gleaming
Aurum weaves, in its narcissistic miasma
Nothing malodorous in self-love / loathin’
So imperious my bombastic art, it glazes!

dull dismal clouds hang,
                        snow gone eventually
                               sky dark overcast

                              rest beside window

AUDIO: 'Meoto Zanzai' sung by Sayuri Ishikawa.

Japan's Enka Music

Labyrinths tuned to where the Far East lies,
Spilled words occasion a symphonic breeze,
Unfurls white banners where sun paint red rise,
Labyrinths tuned to where the Far East lies,
Cherry blossoms canopies mesmerize,
Import harmony stretched from overseas,
Labyrinths tuned to where the Far East lies,
Spilled words occasion a symphonic breeze.

A stroll pauses, eyes soothe at rock garden,
Silk threads ornately weave life's tapestry,
Innate genteel graces, bows in pardon,
A stroll pauses, eyes soothe at rock garden,
Yon their themes stands banyan tree, roots harden,
Hear lyrics breathe verses to us with glee,
A stroll pauses, eyes soothe at rock garden,
Silk threads ornately weave life's tapestry.

A Crocheted Potholder

Fecund sewer ingeniously knitted
An ornately crocheted potholder was made

Bragged her complete oeuvre at first
But its worthless in everybody’s sight

It may be futile or trifling
What can it flaunt is nothing

The Cuisiner's hands are sheathed
From scorching cauldron was protected

No acclaim, no reward travail
From first light to nightfall with ill

Hard work makes it smeared and filthy
At old age, it will be banished away

Oh Ornithological Original Onions Ogling

a = a and b = ? when preceded by a k amswer in 30000 words
A quandary could be said to be quadrilateral in formation but rusted tap thinks that water is very very soothing. Ok then thought the beaker I can fill now. Great. It is never to be said that a static shape is a star or a moon. Nor is it a combusting solar sway. Architect of arc. Ancient arrival. And still the wobbly know it all pan sits half on and half off the ever increasing hob space. Great isnt it? Practice two wobbles in an attic then whirl around flamboyantly. Flailing jumping arms and legs in a mish mash of seasoning. Sprinkled. Now go and paint a pretty flower on a sleeve. Nice. Lovely. And it is in the far reaches that a lot of ornately dressed melons queue to purchase loaves of bread at noon. Haha to all of that. And a curd of curry. Xxxxx ornithological Z z z

Almost a Snow Day

Although I really do love my job,
Love to lounge around with don't disturb on my door knob,
More often than not I'd love to play hooky,
Ornately drinking tea and eating oatmeal raisin cookies,
Sympathizing for all the ones who are slaving away,
Totally enjoying my Ferris Bueller off day,

Aha, I say as I look out my window,

Suddenly it started to heavily snow,
Now I don't more than likely have to go,
Oh, better I call up just in case,
Work might just be after all taking place,

Darn, thought they'd be shutting down,
Almost hung up with a smile instead of a frown,
Yikes, I think as I freeze and fishtail on my way to my job downtown!
