Limbs flailing under leaves
These rows of second sight
That go with the reeling —
Like a dream too much dragged,
Her strange flesh is peeling.
Limbs flailing under leaves
Scraps of a wood tongue speak
To the womanly walls —
Where they perish upon
Shadows of her by dawn.
Limbs flailing under leaves
Their temperaments cool down
As she sips tea of trees —
There alveoli kiss
Autumn flickers on green.
Limbs flailing under leaves
How groans the bark's glory
That thinks of drift in dark —
There a fallen place warm —
...none hold her in her loss.

By mid-October, I can always tell
it’s that sweet time when colors are so bright
that if they had aroma, they would smell
like candy corn or cinnamon and quite
like a persimmon I would like to bite
because the leaves on trees so yummy seem
against blue sky, and in the day’s last gleam.
The many hues are anything but bland.
I drive along in wonder at God’s scheme:
Octobers here appear like Candy Land.

Fishing rods and reels, and bicycle wheels,
gentle thousand yard stare,
daisies in the dunes, measured afternoons
all without a damn care.
Bake shop coffee and wet shore like toffee,
Hampton Star in my lap,
on the beach sipping, salty wind nipping
at thoughts of that day’s nap.
Sand like gold powder, piping clam chowder,
oyster cracker crumbs,
shy deer in the brush, blue waves fall and crush,
stoops alive with red mums.
Old high school pals, now of different locales,
drink plastic cups of beer.
Baseball and whiskey, nights thick and misty,
for our time once a year.
Inky skies full of stars, when we leave the bars,
silver on the black sea.
I look at the moon, an ancient white rune,
who makes memories with me.

Oregon's Octobers offer odysseys
of opulent orange orchards
opening on overjoyed oaks.

The October clouds can hide October’s Sun
With winds hollowing through the tees
Leaves falling upon the ground with whispering sounds
Burning barrels to keep the homeless warm
Temperatures lowing while darkness looms earlier
October’s Sun slowly disappearing moving over for winter
Animals gathering nuts while bears prepare to hibernate
Snow will soon appear seeing deer’s footprints near
Thinking about, October’s sun

Colorful are the skies
lost in their dyes,
Cold are the stones
displaying their tones…
Captive their surrender
of hearts in their tender,
Aromas in distribution
solitudes of seclusion…
Nights in their mourning
frosts are aborning,
Stranded in their storms
as the weather conforms…
Autumn in its yawning,
for a new day is dawning.

Precious is October as it bestows
An eternal promise that deeply grows,
Relishing each hour with kindness and grace
Warmed by caresses of a sweet embrace.
Whenever moon pales, night’s laughter is found
Erasing fear when trials come around—
Your open arms, in rain, I lean on to
Like a harbor safe till dawn blossoms anew.
And by kindling one dream, all thoughts...we dare
Travel life’s road with a godly prayer
Draped by love, each fiber, a weave that lays
Upon October more joyful these days:
Eleven years, you still reign in my soul
A wonder rare... a blessing I extol!
