What Is Life?
By: Tom Wright
October 18, 2006

Sometimes life can be just like persimmons
Eaten afore the arrival of first frost,
Sometimes it’s like a never-ending contest
That you entered time again and once more lost.

Sometimes it’ll leave you feeling your leftover
Just a faceless person with no nitch to fill,
Sometimes it shows you just enough flat ground
To keep you trudging on toward that next hill;

Some days it’ll tell you that you’re the greatest
Then later on as a doormat will others see?
But it always leaves you mindful of one thing
It’s just a prelude for the life that’s yet to be.

Sometimes life’s like a river wild and free
That carries with it no great-unlocked riddle.
So never let the daily events cloud your vision
Stay focused on the Cross Found In The Middle.

Criteria

Before I was after you laid before me
In the cage of my captor looks
From under from you push
Serene dreams puts
A nitch in the nook noticed
Not to the nay sayers knot
Free in freedoms space aches
breath beneath a release a lease at least no less than what it meets
Make do the make due to make true a make new
For now is allowance
And then there's endowment
May sound mind surrounded
Surpass what is confounded
Construed aptitude
Expect to accept the concept
To whom it may concern might you learn a thing or two
To bring a new unleash unto do through the few who knew but you
Because what was is of the true we will never lose
Simply I am what I can comprehend
To attend to the end and then
Start a new to renew what I knew to know now no foe shall bring folly
Nor riddle me or belittle me for chivalry is dead

My Tired Mind

deep in the shadows of my tired mind
down into the shallows of my pain
I look into the Misty depths
And see i remain in Chains

my soul stands at the window
and the images I see won't pass
the visions I've seen linger
and has carved a nitch of darkness
in my heart

I placed my hand upon the mirror
and felt the touch of pain
through the glass
the sensation of bitter suffering
burned my flesh

a low raspy whisper or hum
is heard in the rythme
of such a sorrowful melody
I paused and realized
it was my own cries I heard
I tried to pull away
but I've already imprinted
my soul with damage

draining the life right out of me
my head hurts as it pounds
at my temples
I'm so tired now
 but fear keeps me awake

Heart of Stone

Was it really all that long ago
when we stood before the crowd
Vowing our love to each other aloud?
Ambitions and vows together don't always go
I'm sure you thought that I would know
So here am I, head bare and bowed.

Perhaps it was just an innocent faze.
I thought you would be happy if we were rich,
Instead I pushed you deeper into that ditch
I didn't emerge to you from that dark, dark haze...
Or was it the middle of an unsolvable maze?
Entangled now, in my created nitch.

I sometimes think of the life we could have known
But like you, I'm left with a HEART OF STONE.

You

IVE HAD THIS FEELING FOR A WHILE NOW
SEEING YOU ONLY RECONFIRMS HOW I REALLY FEEL
YOU KNOW HOW IT IS WHEN YOU LOVE WITHOUT QUESTIONING IF ITS REAL
IM TRYING NOT TO RUSH WANNA MAKE YOU MY NEW NEXT THRILL
I THINK I LOVED YOU THE DAY I LAID EYES ON YOUR AVI
WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR
YOU LOVED ME UNCONDITIONAL AND EMBRACED EVERY ENCOUNTER I HAD IN LIFE
NOT PERFECT BY FAR BUT YOU ENTERING MY LIFE WAS LIKE ME WISHING ON A STAR
NEVER HAVE I FELT A CONNECTION SO REAL LOOKING IN YOUR EYES I TRY NOT TO
HIDE
I WANNA OPEN UP TO YOU AND LETCHU KNOW ALL MY FEARS AND WANTS
WANNA RELAX AND PLACE MY HEART IN YOUR HANDS NO LONGER PUTTING UP A
FRONT
I WANNA BE THE ONE THAT LOVES YOU TILL MY HEART NO LONGER BEATS
WANNA BE THAT LOVE YOU DREAM OF ONLY IN YOUR SLEEP
WHY DO I FEEL LIKE MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU
YOUR LIKE MY SOULMATE OR MAYBE YOUR LIKE THE PERSON I WANNA SURRENDER TO
YOU HAVE THIS NITCH BOUT YOU AND YOU CARRY YOURSELF SO WELL
I LOVE THE FACT THAT WE BEGAN AS FRIENDS AND NOW TIME WILL TELL

The Word From the Streets

Take it to the limit and speak your mind
Find a moment to spare and a nitch in time
So you can relax and think for a minuet
So you can live life to its fullest and drive it like a spigget
Show them who you really are and what you stand for
Raise our voise and let yourself be heard
Show everyone you can spread the word

If you fail to spread the word there's something else you must do
try a little bit harder and it'll eventually happen
Probabally not today or tomorrow but sometime in the future
Your word will be spoken from generation to generation
As it was meant to be told

Be - Ing

1.

Waves of rolling
mully grumps
ripple
over be - ing
at this moment.
Eyes burn
the mirror
asking,
Smile?

          2.

Tapping drops of
sky tears
rebound off tin.
Winds of ebb / flow
the evergreens
with an ocean sound
the same
Be - ing.

          3.

A simpler space
floating, drifting
lulled be - ing
by another tide of time.
Out of a mind
restless drum
boring
down.

          4.

The nitch
to fit a soul
playing on this planet:
     Doctorate of do do,
     Batchelor of bull artiste,
     Captainness of a ship
     Quickens as priest
     Goblins wait.
Be - ing.

Writers Itch

Developing itch
My little nitch
Words
Thoughtful
Senseless
Irregular
Rythmical

What triggers them?
Each phrase a baby gem.
Clear my throat, swallow the flem.
White seeds transform into a stem
Stem spurts out branches, leaves, flower buds
Blossoming buds like a completed poem.
