An Artist's visit

For Sara Jama's contest "Emotional Shrapnel"
05/10/2025

she appears spontaneously
courtesy asunder
an uninvited visitor
behind her a seeping of rust at the gates
an artist with barren hands
splashing scarlet all over the hessian
a lurid migration, primordial as fossils,
sketched by Selene’s soft summoning
into the earth’s belly,
with feeble niggles,
surging to tremor crescendos
abrading,
            grinding,
                         scraping
in the moulded wisdom of the womb
where a design is deferred
a cradle lies still….

Written: June 03, 2024, For Miranda Hawley

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The breeze rippling through your locks breaks my heart
Missing them, I clasp my hands at my side
I saw streams streak off your neck and apart
I should sustain your side and grant my snide
You catch my eye and dance as we used to
I know you'll dance lost at a spiteful dance
You twirl while on fire; no one can spot you
You dance to relieve pain; your soul askance
My chest niggles from your intense envy
I wish to hear your rage and ease my pain
To deem you as plague, this soul might levy
I can't hold this within; tears are a strain
          What I hear is triggering mental fears
          My heart hates distrust as you dance with tears
Premium MemberThe Niggles of Life
Life is an annoyance of cognition
Certainly can't understand it anymore
The circuit is tense
Examining the heart
Gradually collapses
Can't you turn on the switch?
My skin slips
It starts to itch
Fear resonates
Like a train
Trying to stick together
Run together
Not indecisive
Break up
Make up for yourself
Fear Burns
Fear clings to my clothes like smoke,
lingering thick into my flesh,
forming a salty sweat upon my brow.
It plays the molten tricks of mind.
Smouldering slowly amongst dying embers
until, my ravaged soul burns out.
Fear rages wildfire on flammable esteem
and niggles, like ash, in a bloodshot eye.
Dampened only by a flood of tears.
Oh what a tyrant! So intrusive and corrosive!
Leaving my mind a scorched charcoal,
and allowing the kindling of sorrow to reignite.
Premium MemberCrazed By Grief
Nighttime falls shrouded dark and spiritless,
Wavering fire a glaze dying cinder.
In grim silence tears ebb and flow aimless,
Lips quake angry filled breath growing dimmer.
Loneliness devours inch by inch loves amber,
Left raw to feel the flesh stretch. Brittle crust
Steady smoldering embers, numb anger,
Solace grieving soul filled volcanic dust.
It worsens with the tick-tock of the clock.
None can replace time, not a second in
A day hidden beneath insensate lock.
Days overwhelming calamities sin.
Loneliness niggles as the mind wanders
Bound by loves suffering also ponders.
Still the One
Will you marry me?...enamored the deep gaze.
Twenty years ago , I mesmerised into your maze.
Razzled dazzled life, beleaguered in  myriad phase.
Pristine peace I found, hugged in your embrace.
Those quarrels and niggles, grudge, grin of grumble.
Those laurels and giggles, touch within was humble.
Annoy of careless throws, those wet towels on bed.
I waited for your rose,...  that 'wow' you never said.
In silence reigned Love, so majestic like kings.
I grew strong in your arms, you flew high on my wings.
You're still the one...tentacled together.
You're still the one...pinnacled forever.
The Trust of our old treasure...
Our love ?...How do we measure?
I lie trying to read, but my heart maunders
as the rain taps at my red eyes window pane.
The loneliness niggles as my mind ponders.
My spirit empty as the hourglass shatters.
God give me silence from the weight grip of pain.
Bleakness devouring days lying in tatters;
music of my soul evaporates like smoke.
Unsought tears finally run somewhere and drain
in between the illness of old age to choke.
Where are the children I use to entertain?
Blueberry Soda Eye Mist
stinging blueberry soda eye mist
that burns the eyes
and gives way to the nose
as less than harmless
now you see the teeny tiny
little swimming niggles
it won't give you the
warm and friendly wiggles
it's misty blueberry soda smells great
with a little nose burn
but you can't sniff out
where its coming from
 you rub your eyes, surprise
what an eye-burner
it makes it hurt
increasingly extra
you scratch your head
and look around
to see there is no one around
what to do
who to tell
oh, what the hell!
The Moonlight Melodrama
The mosquitoes swirl
in the mix with her soft
skin --
applause splatters
a melodrama
is presented, deadly duet--
malaria looms
A minute menace
niggles the baby's
mother--
high warmth within
Re-Co-Very
Re-co-very
A slow and sweetened word
It rings with resonance
A beauty to be heard.
Looking back on tears shed
the pain is muted, silenced
just a quiet hum I hear
This time it is no pretence.
Sometimes I feel a sting
The prick of old pain
niggles in my sides
A drop of dirty rain.
Mentally I push it away
float it down the river
burn it at the seams
on a breeze that shivers.
‘This is it’
I tell myself
but the voice whispers
‘Until next time’.
Carol Brown
Crowned the queen of creativity: she is
Always adding aroma to art with alacrity,
Rhyming rhapsodies…and raising red roses.
Oh oasis of outstanding opera! you are
Leading a lively, lovely, lady-like life.
Brown… bold, bright and beautiful! She is my
Red-hot favorite: a rare gem in my roll of honor; always
Opening our minds to overwhelming oration.
Wisdom wanders in her wealthy wells... she
Never niggles at the novice in her noble nursery.
Wicked Women, Wise Women
Wisdom wonders in thy wealthy wells
Oh, oasis of opportunities and obeisance
Many men got matured through thy mentorship
Edification of the enslaved is the desired ends
Novice never niggles in her noble nursery
World of wickedness and woes
Opening lives to oppression and offence
Mighty men are marred by thy members
Elites are eroded by thy errors
Novices are not for they entered thy net
Women: world of wisdom and woes
Operating with openness and onslaught
Many were martyred by thy matriarchal mask
Errors and excellence are enclosed in thy essence
Now I know, you’ve got novelty and naughtiness
