to love, is often to bleed,
cut at the wrist through the fields of reids,
mummification of a beloved memory,
wrapped in caramel gauze of a felo de se.
“should we see this heralding—?”
asked the lonely chimera to the aardvark,
her eyes welting with levees to break,
single teardrop of a fallen empire drips to hands.
“time cares not for your water child, just your heartstrings,
but by which face, who will you let lead is the mystery,”
its cane snapping, sending it bouncing down the hill,
quick way to get around, if you are built for hellscape.
“to which face i lead,” it silently speaks,
“am i the lion, a snake, or just a sheep—?”
Ancient Egyptians had terrific mummification skills
They practiced on a variety of lesser animals
hippopotamuses, cats, dogs, camels, and apes
there is non-living proof of their talents in their tombs
pharaohs and their queens were also mummified
Their mummification techniques are still admired today
Anubis, his decision, who has admission
mummification array, slows rot and decay
His age asked no ease
Yet death took the toll
His people were deprived of a king,
When a new civilisation unearthed.
He was the youngest king and the youngest to die.
As the drums beat in the dusty dawn of the Sahara
A wooden Egyptian table was laid and his guts,
Were spilt open for mummification.
Egypt wept, the Nile drenched and the Sahara quenched
As they watched a young king wrapped up,
And prepared for the after life.
His visions went down with him and much wasn't said of him
So recent generations only considered him a boy king
Until Howard Carter revealed to us his tomb
Stuffed with gold more pure and beyond imagination
" The mummy returned but not alone "
Today we call him the golden king
The son of Akhenaten
The greatest pharaoh !!!
A dry habitat where sailing boats were invented
and the paper, pens, keys and toothpaste.
Also where beer was a national currency
and the last dress standing is preserved.
This dwelling offers worship to more than a thousand deities
and cats’ funerals are honoured with the shave of the eyebrows
The most numbered Arab citizenry
possessing the globally most spanned river course.
Eye painting is practiced by both genders
for healing ability and a cover against the sun.
Even with the myth of mummification and the awe of Giza
It is certainly true that one of its habitations
Was found to be swallowed by the sea
I invoke, yea, the symbol of life and immortality
You are Sanatan Dharma of Hindus, Eternal life,
You are the key of Nile, and the Key of life
The universe, power and life-giving air and water
Key of life unlocking the gates of death
You are the fertility and creative power
Symbolizing by your cross and circle
You are the precursor to the Christian cross
Cutting female component by lopping off circle
Later amended to Father, Son and Holy Spirit
As an amulet you give strength and health
Top loop symbolizes reincarnation & rebirth.
You give beauty to fingertips of Gods & Goddesses
Conferring the gift of life to mummy of the dead
The goddess Isis holds you in her hand
You are in the hand of the jackal god Anubis
The god of underworld and mummification
Even God Horus holds you in his hand
Welcoming the deceased to the underworld.
