Echo's Spiral Inward

An echo is felt, touched, recalled,
it drums against our hearts,
strikes softly upon the ringing
shell of being.

An echo hammers upon an open door,
it is unconcerned with any closeted desires,
it is not ours to interpret.

Echo's image comes to us
wrapped within a blossoming,
an ever-opening vowel of vocalic enticement.

Lily-padding slippers tread lightly
yet step loudly upon the mind.

I welcome all dark flowers,
their language is throb and vibration.
I am awakened by the sensual stem,
pulled up into an erotic drumming,
resounding echo's don, the flesh of myself.

Echo is the face of memory,
it is the naming of names,
Echo returns our call
whether spoken or not.

For a moment we tremble like a leaf
that the wind impartially fondles.

Middling Mild

Ducks are up in the air,
it is early - too much
a middling.
Nature lures,
leads us on,
the weather is wrong.

Icy licked stems
are surprised.

Defrosting ants and marmots
patch and mend,
loggers lean on buzz saws.

People take pause,
store bobble hats
and puffer jackets.

Today, to the contrary
the snow is heavy,

any hint of avian romance
is indefinitely delayed.

Safe Place

The large iron safe
has an old-fashioned locking system,
levers need to be pulled,
dials twisted, knobs turned
back and forth.

It is a closet, a room
to enter and lock behind you.
It is taller than a bent head,
yet its sides
are miles wide.

In a dream hotel
I have sequestered myself
for safe-keeping.
I have left my pants
laid out neatly on a bed,
shoes stuffed with newspaper
gagged upon a creaking floor.

Here inside the thick iron door
of this lock-up,
I can sleep in isolation,
until time crows
within my secluded heart,

then my body
once more is offered up
to be bolted upon the cross
of humanity.

Unity

Unity
Mankind must find its unity,
of every color, creed, and race.
We must join together,
so we can move out into space,

What we have done to this planet,
because of what comes to this place.
There cannot be any immunity,
from what the climate brings to the planetary community.

Observing a Cliche From a Rocky Promontory

Above the heat
the sky is flecked with ice.

The sun is no longer burning,
it’s a ghost lamp swept by the rags
of a coat-tailing wind.

There it is - arriving out of a hazy distance
a living cliché, a Bald Eagle
It must have caught a thermal.

I think of all the medallions and coins
it has been stamped and embossed upon;
here it is
an existential exclamation mark.

The eagle veers away
turning deeper into the ice-blue.

No one witnesses this,
even my eyes watch cynically,

the jaded disappointment of this sadness
is darkening my sight.

All hail to the he American eagle -
slowly disappearing.

Summer

Summer
The summer is coming, first the spring than the summer,
it gets very hot we must not,
we must not get anyone shot.

From time to time, things may go very wrong,
then we must be so strong,
and learn to go peacefully along.

We must avoid a bummer,
    allowing people to be told,
        of advancement bold.

Keep the Lid On

Keep the Lid On
There is no reason to throw away years of progress for a momentary,
    fit of anger,
you will not obtain a profit from rioting in the street,

Do not play into the hands who would like to turn the situation,
    to their means,
        and roll good laws retrograde.

Keep the lid on for your own good as well,
I have no snake oil to sell,
acting in your own interest keeps your freedom free.

So far you have shown great restraint,
that's more than I can say for the Memphis police,
indictments have been made the guilty will pay.

Earthbound Paradise

Earthbound Paradise

Ruby red sapphire blue blossoms stand,
    in the diamond stream,
        little silver fishes play.

on a sky of robin's shell,
    Cotton puffs of cloud,
        golden gobs of sunlight glow.

Jade jewels of verdant green,
    along broad banks,
        of mink made, grow.

Ermine blasts of petals,
    lie beneath the shadowed shade,
        of tawny trees.

The pulchritude of paradise on earth,
in my mind's eye clearly seen,
        since birth.
            visited only in a dream.

sometimes no what the time words
flow. © 30 mins ago, Terence Cummings Smith nature

Fields of Chaos

Fields of Chaos
Amid the fields of chaos, we must establish some order,
we cannot let anarchists run amuck,
we can not let our democracy die this way.

They are people who can't be constructive,
Know only how to be destructive,
now we must strive not to take a dive.
My dearest BBG thank you for a lovely evening, I think I have suffered an overdose of love, and I can't wait to see the type of relationship which begins with "until death do us part" thank you for the loving spasm. © 17 mins ago, Terence Cummings Smith

More Time

More time
More time
All things take time
Then the time we have
The time we need
Feed off our time to breath
The greed of time
The time off greed
All things take time
So everyone wants more
The young, the old
The rich and the poor
What do you do with your time?
The time you don't need to pay for
The time that is free?
Do you skydive or ski?
Pray or read?
What to do with the time left for me?
30 mins to an hour
Is that enough time to rise to power?
Build a garden full of flowers
I use my time to look at the sky
I ask why
Why do we need more time?

Neon Dreams

And demons scream
Into the crowded sky
Of lands built in absence of mind
Of neon dreams, diners,
Haunted Malls n parking funeral lots
A ghost nation walking the wastes
Of neon dreams n marketing schemes
Hell is in the ancient seems
Of neon dreams n one-night stands
Money sex power and fame
All looks good on credit cards
Religion, politics, the oldest game
All know no shame.
All covered in the hues of shadows
Of neon flickering, dreams dreamt
Of future crimes
Of lost memory, lost history
The strategies in mysteries
Feeling the grime
All look good in televised glory
All just video violence in 30 mins clips
For the short attention spans theater of the mind
Dead eyes plugged into silicon
Systems of a dark web ruled
By something unknown, unseen as...
It dreams in neon!

Premium MemberJim's Not a Master Baker and Jan's In a Jam

Jim’s fingers are grimy, oh dear
He has a solution I hear
As Jim loves to bake
Scone mixture he’ll make
Of his cakes I am steering clear!

Jan’s in a bit of a jam
My microwave’s a sticky mess
Strawberry pulp’s splashed on my dress
I must find a programme
On how to make fruit jam
Mine’s dreadful I’ve gotta confess

Written after I did gardening this morning… and then baked scones go with my paltry effort of attempting to make strawberry jam in the microwave. It boiled over and was everywhere was covered with a gloopy mess , took me 20 mins to clean up but I retrieved what I could and boiled it and made some passable fruit conserve
