First half of the month cooler, then the second half warmer
Spring clocks turned forward, daylight lasting longer
Games of gold always told, losing harassed nine-fold
Allowed homers and walked batters that would be never
Scrimmage full of big time moments given, at the end guilt-ridden,
but rainy days getting more frequent leaving fields flooded.
Rainout, rain delay, games are stopped or canceled
deep into the night as fans sit in the grandstands
Agonizing for players and fans alike going home drenched
Despite the weather or the ups and downs of the sports
games will be played and fans will always spend watching their sporting events

March Middleness
Month March to step.
Dry leaves escape.
Leaf-buds try shape.
Winter ending.
Sun shines soft warm.
Shy sky feels charm.
Closing cold term,
March advancing.
March Middleness.
A short recess,
Just to access
the season Spring.
Four syllables per line

Fourth Place
March middleness is much too fleet,
coming in on a creature’s feet.
Is it the lion which brings it on
pouncing with a roar on my lawn?
Or does it come with a lamb’s bleat?
Each March must swiftly meet defeat
when April brings her rains and heat.
There’s little time to think upon
March middleness!
Spring Equinox is such a treat,
for blossoms bloom which smell so sweet,
then March’s middle time is gone
by then - its time is brief as dawn!
We long for spring yet barely greet
March middleness.

April 18, 2017
After two months in his new office,
Trump signed many executive orders,
with people protesting everywhere,
mid-March was a bit like a nightmare,
Turbulent weather and conflicting news,
leaving many people a little confused,
not knowing what to believe or think,
even the latest information on wikileaks,
And with Spring just one week away,
bringing many to natures warm sway,
with the outside a little more cheery,
although crisis with some foreign countries dreary,
A tug of war with Trump and the wall,
different groups protesting that he's got a lot of gaul,
beware the ides of March are here for us to stay,
with the possibility of WW3 well on its way.

The drumming of Ides of March
could be heard from the horizon,
as faceless horses galloped in fiery glow,
making the horizon look as though it was
an earth's carpet, rolling back to it's cradle
in celestial flames.
"You started the fire!" they blamed each other.
Each one of them had a flame hidden in their pockets;
the flames were only hot if they left their owner's grasp.
The flames fed on the thoughts and emotions of their masters.
When the flames grew too big for their pockets,
they were released like fiery doves to the skies,
only to merge with other flames,
creating a fiery army more vicious than the Four Horsemen
of the Apocalypse!
Always runner up, never seized the prize
often sweet sixteen, never final four
and if striving for bronze, finish fourth.
But days are now longer than night
and despite yesterday’s snow dump
spring is here with better days to come.
