Premium Membermy best friend Joe

my best friend knows my stories, has my back, laughs with me
He and I share two dogs, they are our babies, Maxie and Maddy
We are silly enough to call ourselves their mommy and daddy
Been together for fifty-seven years, my best friend and me

My best friend misses me when I am gone, which is a rarity.
We are evenly matched in wit and wisdom, in complete parity.
My friend and I both have hazel eyes and dark hair, but I dye mine.
We take turns napping now, because babies want one up all the time.

There are so many reasons that I love my best friend, impossible to choose.
He knows me better than anyone else; can find anything I misplace or lose.
Knows what foods to buy, so he does the grocery shopping.
He also does the laundry, this man is a dynamo who is forever hopping.

We can finish each other’s sentences,
so claim we are redundant all the time.
I guess the best thing about my best friend
is that since 1968 he has been mine.

Premium MemberWords of love

My entry in a poem challenge:
“Write a poem based on three words from a song.”
I chose: 'Words of love' by the Beatles 1964”

words of love

I’m the harshest critic,
the truest of nonbelievers,
when words of love are used.
Soapy words will not deliver
so please stop trying to be smooth.

Don’t compare me to a summer’s day!
I know that’s from some Broadway play.

Waste not flattery’s rose
praise not my grace,
at least not to my face,
you’re better off praising my clothes.

Forgo sweetness, promise nothing
then you may be onto something
say it, straight up, I won’t faint
trust me, sir, I am no saint.
.
.
A song for this:
Words of love by the Beatles

Premium MemberMaddy Prior, Sandy Denny, and Jacqui McShee

I live in hell, because I was given a choice,
who ever on earth had the sweetest voice -
Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny, or Jacqui McShee?
The demons rejoice
as in hell, I am bound to forever dangle
deciding,
Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention or Pentangle?

Premium MemberShared Christmas Dream

“Visions of sugar plums danced in their heads”…..
Teddy’s eyes fluttered, he saw gingerbread men dancing.
He was too tired to get up, so he allowed himself more sleep.
His brother was warm against his back, and he felt comforted.

Two cousins were here too, under grandma’s quilt.
They were snug and cozy, each dreaming their own dream.
Or so Maddy thought, when she opened one eye and saw a lollipop.
I doubt the others are dreaming of sweets, thought Jimmy.

Sharing a dream, yet, not one of the four knew it.
They did not discuss it, for they were too busy.
Poking each other awake, so they could open presents.
The thought did not hit any of them until thirty years later.

Fear of Bichon Frise

Bichon Frise
I did not wish to meet today
A strange dog coming at a run
I for sure thought I was done
I did not know if it would get me
‘Help, help’, was my plea
I saw the girl at its heels
She was so fast, like lightning peels
She caught the dog by its collar
Right before I gave a holler
I found it had the same name as me
Spelt neither with an “i” or an “e”
Maddy was the dog I met
She still is a large threat
But Jane will never leave me alone
Lest I trip while running and break a bone

Premium MemberThe Gates of Heaven

Last night I dreamed of heaven and I saw the pearly gates.
I saw what was waiting there for me, and it was absolutely great.
There stood all of my puppies each wagging their little tails.
Each one was there to greet me as I came upon their trail.

I saw Ginger and Summer, Kimba and Maddy as well.
I then saw Cujo, Taylor and the Gabs, with many a tale to tell.
I saw every beautiful dog that had been there throughout my years.
I even saw their wings as I dropped to my knees in tears.

I then saw my Lord and Savior he was standing there in their midst.
He was showing me some of his angels that I had loved and dearly missed.
I could also see my parents they were grinning from ear to ear.
They were also standing with their puppies I couldn’t believe I was finally here.

I could see them all but three, then my heart began to sink.
I didn’t see Bella, Lilly or my Lola in her studded collar of pink.
I couldn’t understand how heaven, would bring me such pain and strife.
Then I turned around and looked, they had stayed behind to protect my wife.

Bedding Down With Bigfoot

Hey, I've got me a plan to survive World War Three
And it doesn't involve living deep in the sea
With a mermaid named Maddy from that '80s movie
Or a grey-skinned E.T. hoping to crossbreed with me.

There's a bunch of big blokes known as Bigfoot to some
And they live in the woods where most humans won't come
Though they've entered our culture as the years have gone by
They are still seen as legends and old myths, that's no lie.

See, in spite of their fur and their size they're quite smart
For their fondest desire is to live well apart
From us primates who ravage the Earth without pause
Like the virus that spreads through its host - just because.

Called by Yeti and Sasquatch and still other things
They refer to themselves as "Jemah" and are beings
Who, unlike the poor bipeds that include me and you,
Can converse without speech, like our pets often do.

Though the tallest are known to have grown to nine feet
And they stink like old garbage, not to mention dead meat
I shall fashion my life on this heavenly lathe;
I'll make Sweet Thing my wife, and I won't have to bathe.

Thank You Miss Maddy

THANK YOU MISS MADDY

Maddy baked some cookies,
She shared a few with us.
When we took a little taste
We got a full flavor rush.

For hidden in those cookies
Buried away down deep
We found some flavor chips
A great big giant heap.

There were many different kinds
A virtual rainbow of rich flavors.
Each one seemed a favorite
My sweet tooth often savors.

But have I mentioned the size
Of these tasty, giant hub caps.
You can’t eat a whole one
Or they’ll begin to play taps.

We found it best to break it up
Sharing each one with a friend
Or you might simple burst
Before you reach its end.

So here’s a “Hats off”
To our new family cook.
If she keeps this up,
I’ll need my belt to unhook.

Thank you Miss Maddy
For sharing them with us.
As you practice techniques.
You’ll make extra, we trust. :o)

The Adventures of Wizard Herpolits

THE ADVENTURES OF WIZARD HERPOLITS

A magical bliss and a fist of wits
Sprung from Herpolits.
As a Warlock, he loved to nature walk.
He would discover Jake’s beanstalk.

On this very day, he ventured and climbed.
And, when he top, he rested to unwind.
Several minutes he took and then he rose.
He stood bare feet and decides to put his shoes on.

He begins to think aloud in speech.
A spell he song.
His voice being discrete
While he pulls out his magical wand.

"She stuck her finger in the sky and all the stars shook out.”
The beanstalk I climb is spooked no doubt.
With my rod, I am spellbound.
To discover this world Jake Castle found.

Herpolits would journey afar
To quite a different end of Giantvillism.
Herbert (Giant) and Maddy of the Big People Stone knew Wizard Herpolits climbed
Jake’s beanstalk.
They well wait patiently to see how far he ventures.

The Love of Our Two Cats

Sammie and Pepper are like our children to us
Their bright eyes are so expressive with much love and trust
So many years ago I just never did know
About the deep love of a cat and my impressions were low
But I was just a young man during those growing years
Gettiing over some rough spots and so many fears
As life has continued to mould me and I became a cat daddy
At my more mature age I even baby sit our daughters cats, Cody and Maddy
So, every now and then their are four cats in the house
We are honored to have them all, me and my spouse
We are now very much cat lovers and so very proud and happy
We are greeted whenever we come in the door, loving mommy and pappy
They both rub against our legs and look up with inquiring bright eyes
Where you both been? Did you bring us a surprise?
And we always do bring them something to enjoy
A goodie to eat and perhaps a little mouse toy
Just wanted to tell the world how wonderful it is to be in love
With these furry Gods creatures so delightfully created in heaven above

.why the Cow Goes Moo.

The cow goes moo
when he's taking a poo
then he says boo hoo.
cause it just sits there
and hangs.
then it slowly slides out.
