Death To the Good Man

On the pathway to heaven above,
Fierce menaces assail.
Down the road to hell beneath,
Beguiling lures make him frail.

A life is inflicted! Nay, afflicted!
He a dry bone, walks alive dead
Blessed with cultural curses
Cursed with modern time blessings

The good man's out in the field
Roaming, he roams wild and free
Thoughts of good grasp his knee
His desire's stopped and fails to breed

Deep beneath the water
Evil thoughts do bind him
Live, die, or survive, a good is altered
Alas! A rhythmic dirge is sung from the hymn

Premium Member Fishing Lures Went On Strike Today

Fishing lures went on strike today
Cheering was heard by bass, their prey
Echoes from the listening waves wandered by.
Applause and a parade headed to do or die

Catfish and blue gill hollared ship! Ship Hooray!
Fishing lures went on strike today, making things their way
Fish in their pond held a festival so merry and gay!
Glad they would not longer be caught for the sautee'.

This Is What Lures Me To the Sea

On my forty four foot boat the beauty that
surrounds
me is natural,
original,
and rhymthical
as the rocks take a pounding
from the waves as they crash sending sea spray
all around.
The sunsets and sunrises keep me spell bound
as dolphins are playing in the background.
Jelly fish in herds moving up and down
helped to me to see the starfish moving on the
ground
while green turtles are swimming by with out
making a sound.
Lightening strikes are electricity unbound.
this is one powerful force
that has to run its course.
This uniqueness touches my soul
when life has taken its toll.
The sea lives with in me. I thrive for the calm
and solitude which are so profound.
This is why I am not homeward bound.

Premium Member From Lures To Glocks

I come from a family of fishermen
Mitchel 300 open faced reels
size 6 hooks 10Lb monofilament line
colorful bobbers and lures-
Dreaming of Big mouth bass
and golden flanked Muskie.
We casted over on a thousand lakes and streams
I even a subscription to a fishing magazine.

Now in this lost year of 2020,,,
The year of the Chinese rat -the mask-
police brutality and uncivil disobedience.
Not to mention the crazies released from prison.
Rioting- looting and defunding (the peace..)
My attention has shifted toward
38 specials-9mm Glocks and A.D.T
and a much more serious type of
magazine-

That Which Lures

To the closest call she responds with her resilient wolf’s howl.
Understanding and realizing the hook for what it is.
An Icarus full of cockiness and bold flair
daring her to draw closer to the sun.

He casts his spell against the natural laws,
trying to entrap her naïve passions.
When running, he chases.
Her only recourse, to turn and face
the predator from within her.

Having escaped the predator’s grasping talion’s,
she has a deeper intuitive drive
to shield her creative fire from destruction.

The young maiden’s well-honed senses and heightened hearing
will forewarn her of his presence in her woods.
His lonely quest for redemption is recognized
for the clever trap it is, set against the way things are.

Her youthful exuberance cannot lead her to danger.
No longer lingering prey to the enchanter will she be.
She has developed a maturity, not the guileless follower
of any pretty jewel that appears.
Instead she tends her fire well,
creating her own palace within the world as it is.

All things can tempt me, but I’ll not stray long
from poetry. Desire to write is strong.

The lure of pie may shoo my muse away,
but soon new themes my poems will convey.

A brand-new movie’s on, a mystery.
When it concludes, I’ll write distraction-free.

I’m writing, but my Clark* book waits close-by.
Good choices for my sweet time often vie.

Great plots and pie provide no exercise!
To walk before I write more lines seems wise.

Premium Member Which Fish Lures You

It’s said there are many fish in the sea
So which type of fish would you choose to be
The sharks and jellyfish I would avoid
Swimming with dolphins I’ve always enjoyed

Tropical river queens are angelfish
To mate with one of them, male species wish
All fish seem to evade barracuda
Even powerful, albacore tuna

But of all fish swimming in lakes and seas
There’s just one with humor that seeks to please
Clownfish perform an amusing sea dance
With host fish before they take residence

If given my choice, a clownfish I’d be
There’s no greater gift than laughter to me
