Premium Member Covid Is No Big Deal

We have Covid No Big Deal.
We sing, and dance do the Virginia Reel
Swing our partners round and round.
Prance our droplets all over this here town.

Showing our muscles, displaying our pecs.
None of us knowing the long-term effects.
We have Covid No Big Deal.
Let’s all share a community meal.

We will not wear masks or take precautions at all.
You cannot make us grow our brains big or tall.
Science means nothing. The CDC is our enemy.
We happily get our misinformation on TV.

Premium Member Hearts And Kisses

She cries in her room, scanning the internet,
searching through the dating sites for her soulmate.
And chatting up cyber friends she's never met
keeps her entertained: with so much on her plate.
And yet, she's lonely: for love's not on the net,
and she's abandoned reality of late.
Feeling empty is a gut-wrenching feeling,
and this fledgling's broken wings require healing.

She tries to numb that hollow feeling with likes
and cutesy emojis of hearts and kisses.
And she smiles as her popularity spikes,
the fact that she's still alone, she dismisses.
The web has morphed into a surreal friend,
who is responsive: to copy, paste, and send.
But social beings get depressed when alone:
and the web's long-term effects are yet unknown.

Premium Member The Future In My Lifetime

This is a real difficult ask
so much to consider about life
consider climate change and its effect
Covid 19 and its impact so very rife

Climate change will get worse
none of the big nations give enough
selfishness rules their mind set
the consequences of no action, real rough

Consider the long term effects
that covid19 could have world wide
it's clear it's not going away soon
keep safe doing right against the tide

Our life's never be normal again
what was life before? soon be forgotten
as time rolls on continually tick tock
what can one do? just wonder when!

Of course one can't ever be sure
every moment is God's to give
our future is completely in Him
so we do His will in how we live

(I have created a poem that reflects what I believe humanity will achieve or not acheive in the future in my own lifetime.)

A Question With a Sting In Its Tail

A harmless question one might say,
Yet for some recipients
Once muttered,
Will send them on a never-ending quest,
For the answer.

It spawns countless questions of its own,
Never sleeps, never lies still,
Reaches every nook and cranny in the brain,
Has no off switch,
And its sound cannot be muffled,
They can never be unheard.

It throws doubt on relationships,
Where it never existed before.
It gnaws its way through to the heart,
And causes an itch that must be continuously scratched.
For which there is no soothing cream,
Or known herbal remedy.

If you, touch wood,
Should ever form a question out of these three words,
"Are you happy"
If you are lucky the following three uttered immediately after,
May prevent any long-term effects,
'You look happy"
So, I am told.

A Smile

A smile really can make the difference in somebody's day,
You never know what they may be feeling or know what to say.

Our world today presents many challenges and days filled with strife,
It has been said a smile can lower your blood pressure which could possibly save a life.

It is such a simple thing and takes little exertion,
The long term effects could possibly even change a person.

The next time you meet a gruff faced stranger,
Smile and hopefully it will lessen their anger.

Remember before you are to quick to judge,
Your smile just may be that much needed nudge.

Smoke Screens Shattered Dreams

The school bathroom is filled with cigarette smoke,
hold your breath or you’ll surely choke.

Trying to be down with the rest of the crowd,
smoking isn’t cool for crying out loud!

You think smoking makes you mature?
It makes you smell bad sort of like horse manure.

Maybe it makes you feel like you’re cool,
it’s killing you slowly don’t be such a fool.

The tobacco industry has done enough,
but they don’t force you to take that puff!

Then when you’re sick you expect to get millions,
those guys are smart they’re not the silly ones!

Heart disease, lung disease and high blood pressure,
the long-term effects are hard to measure.

You smoke to have friends and feel like you’re grown,
perhaps you’re better off just being alone.

Let’s be real it’s a terrible habit,
to make it worse you’re young and new at it.

Do whatever it takes for you to quit,
You’ll say: “I feel much better I have to admit.”

Words of wisdom for me to part with,
cigarette smoking don’t even start it!

Alcoholism

Alcohol consumption can be a complete nightmare
You can lose your life and your family
So drugged up, you can’t even play solitaire

Alcohol will give you a sense of disorder
Missing your child’s birthday party

From one drink to the next
Never knowing your life is a complete wreck
Not knowing the alcohol long term effects
Not getting any respect
Considered by non-alcoholics as one of life’s rejects
Soon to be one of life’s unknown subjects

Alcohol makes you do stupid things
Sleeping around, married and hiding your ring

Continue to go to your AA meeting
Remember, it’s alcohol you are defeating

Life is tough, but keep God in it
Trust in him and see how you will benefit
Live life and don’t ever quit

Look in the sky, so beautiful and blue
Remember, it is God’s creation and so are you
