Premium Member As Darkness Falls

As darkness falls without, it also falls within;
where listless slumber slowly takes me by the hand,
leads me to a place where I relive every sin
while Lilith does foretell what fate for me is planned.

The darkness not yet deep enough for me to drown
the fading light not bright enough to shine the way;
I fear the rabid laughing of the coming clown
as he performs his ghastly, nightly cabaret.

Old Harlequin will dance and whisper in my ear
and tell of all dark things that lurk within my soul;
for these, not those without, he knows, are what we fear.
Come here, my dear, abide with me, he will cajole.

Then, as he ventures forth to give his foul-breathed kiss,
unkindness host of ravens swoop, take out my eyes;
then, slowly I dissolve to silence, darkness, bliss;
another night, I have denied the devil's prize.

Passages

Often in life we have to let everything go.
All attachments will dissipate one day,
only the heart and soul survive the blow
of other fingers, other eyes
making judgments that are hard to realise
as they toss away tid bits we held dear
sentimentality... tokens of emotions
we carried safely inside through the years.
The token is just the physical reminder
of an emotion alive and well,
But it's not the token we carry inside,
which is good -
one day the outside will be gone.

Sometimes I wonder about other old women's lives,
the ones with the security of a warm home,
strong and loving family ties,
joy and laughter sparkling in their eyes.
But come on - that was twenty years younger than I am
and I can't build a past from where I stand
at this moment, in my present state of mind.

Tomorrow's always come
but today finds me paring away
at levels of choices, large and small.
I used to envy their security,
but not their blindness
not their closed mindedness
not their falseness nor their skills
in the labors of lying, stealing and blaming...
they are pro's.
But such is the path they chose.

I chose to spiritually grow.
Perhaps security was the price.

Dreams

I awoke from a dream
Where my life was a mess
It wasn't so pleasant
I have to confess.

It went something like this..
I was lost and alone
Trying to find my way back
But my legs were like stone

And my voice was unheard
Or was misunderstood
Every earnest 'help' word
Or skin-pinching, no good

The place was a town
So familiar and yet
Either people were zombies
Or a few I'd once met

Sometimes I would run
Being scared of my capture.
Another, in love
And re-living the rapture.

Now, fully awake
I will meditate this;
Whatever the landscape,
Or weird lonely Miss

I think I replay all the highs
And the lows
But what it all means..
No one really knows

But my future is held
In safe hands, I know this.
And my face is embraced
And my forehead is kissed

If I wake in a sweat
From this dream we call life
I can leave all the drama
And worries so rife

For the people I love
I would look back and ache
So I'll stay with them longer
And the most of them make

What if I appear
In the dreams of another?
I pray love and kindness
On them I will smother

So this is my goal;
Be extravagant, lovely.
And fill someone's dreams
So they think fondly of me.

As we greet each new day
And awake once again..
Know eternity beckons
But in dreams we remain

Premium Member FROM GOLDILOCKS ZONE

From Goldilocks Zone of some distant star
Microscopic creatures evolve and spread.
These tardigrades travel across cosmos.
In the ice of comets they hitch a ride
Surviving aeons in a dormant state,
Unti they then strike the earth’s atmosphere.
The ice melts and these creatures then appear
And set up colonies where they may thrive.
These microscopic forms have come across
Many billions of miles of outer space.
But let’s think how these lifeforms affect us.
Could some of them function like a virus.
Microscopic creatures evolve and spread
From Goldilocks Zone of some distant star.

Premium Member My heart is a vessel filled with the ocean of endless love for you

My heart is a vessel filled with the ocean of endless love for you,
but when your screams shatter the silence like relentless storms,
when your hand rises like a cold shadow on my skin,
and your words strike like lightning across my furrowed brow,
I sink into the scorching memories of past traumas,
red nightmares like blood, nails of abuse digging deep,
the gray ghosts of anxiety dance around me,
pale and cold hands threatening my fragile neck with a deadly grip.
I wished to stay, to hope you would be the miracle of change,
but my nerves cannot bear to relive the terror again,
my bones are broken, I can no longer carry the burden of disdain,
no more drops of abuse and raw blood can be sipped.
So I leave now, leaving behind a silent goodbye,
whispering my peace like a prayer in the quiet of the night.
It's a retreat into a long-desired sanctuary of tranquility,
where words are no longer arrows and shadows no longer lurk,
where each day is a dawn of calm and every breath,
a new beginning, freed from the chains of past suffering,
like a butterfly lifting its wings to the clear sky,
seeking the peace promised by the silence of the eternal.

Premium Member In Care of Contests

I've come to see this social site
As something more than just a rite
A place where I can write and grow
     (While other poets come-and-go)

It's not perfection - nothing is
Still, I enjoy these hers and his
No place is better than its peeps
So many here are friends for keeps

Contests are, for me, a means
A grand device for crafting scenes
What I might not spawn otherwise
With just the limits of my guise

Each public site with limits, thus
Reflects the best and worst of us
It's not about what place we earn
But rather how we grow and learn

Perhaps there's some are sorry it's
          Not jammed with poet laureates
But that would lead to detriment
     Just rife with sad discouragement

So while it's hard, sometimes, to take
That some don't hit the contest brake
I SHAN'T be one that questions rules
Thus made and placed to suffer fools

For when I joined this Poetry Soup
I signed the laws of this fine group
So, though I might not quite agree
I'm bound and pleased to let it be.

Premium Member Making New Starts

There’s nothing better than a warm winter fire
Burning in the hearth at home,
With a cup of coffee and a book to read
Stirring one’s mind to roam.

To a realm of virtual reality
Where ideas take to flight,
Between a few pages lost in the ages
While reading by firelight.

It may be a new novel of love and romance,
Mired in political intrigue,
Or maybe a mystery, history or poetry
Like the tale of “Annabell Lee.”

Perhaps science, astronomy or psychology
Will suit some other tastes,
For the curious mind those kinds will find
Satisfaction made, in haste.

There are no limits to winter’s charm
When it comes to warming hearts,
With an open mind and a moment in time
We all can make new starts.

Premium Member Karmic Kismet

When the Goddess of aroma
graces my caffeinated soul,
her milky quartz crown
                     shines in shades
                     of ineffable pleasures.
Invigorating arabica stars within
                  my senses to rise
                       like steamy silhouettes~
              laced in seraphic
                        aura of lotus chastity….

If coffee personifies
the electrifying taste
of my longing soul,
will fruity scents stir,
to evoke hidden
metaphors within this
mocha heart?

I’ll sketch
decaffeinated skies
with roasted beans
of brunette bliss.
Let colors of the
golden sun splatter
harmonious hues
of cosmic sanctity.
I’ll embrace the
aromatic elixir of life,
brewed with
floral hints of faith~
allowing unfiltered
essence of
meaningless mornings,
to reawaken an undying
thirst to illuminate
fading stardust.
Quenching serenity
from granulated values,
that depict
karmic kismet
across divine rivers
flowing with
spiritual awakening.

Perhaps, with every
sip of espresso,
we indulge a scoop of
cocoa gratitude,
expressing the
inner purity,
while happiness pours
into a crystal clear cup
of constant clarity.
There the light
of cinnamon
oozes amidst the
cleansed canvas of life,
to rescript an
ethereal ingredient
that guides us back to
a realm of rosier runes,
where ego has no palette
to rest upon,
for within us dwells
an immortal barista,
concocting healing drips
from caramelized visions.

I’ll hold on to these
unexplored cravings,
while the liberty of
conscience remains~
the first ray of
warmth I inhale.

When daylight befalls like
tints of tuscan tiramisu,
let me find the strength
to lure pale pigments
of weeping wind~
I’ll be the thread
that untangles unsettling
webs wrapped in
bitter breezes,
for the king of solace
and I, will become one;
celestially intertwined,
infused in bronze ink,
as one in a million flavors.

Premium Member On Rivers of Love

Rivers of love run through my crimson veins
From the flowing spring
Which is my heart

The crimson flood whispers in breaths
Like a musical feast, a banquet
Indulging my senses

Graceful and unbroken, the flow
Pours through my naked life
Leaving light and laughter

Rushing across the rocky places
Where I have been hurt
Replacing pain with compassion

The crimson flow breaks apart the past
Into bits and pieces of memory
Where they can be left

Like a lingering touch, sighing softly
The warmth caresses my thoughts
With feelings precious – hope

Waves of this running current moves in me
Calling out to the energy within me
With love that is intimate – intense

Without this gentle love flowing on
I would be lost, gone, vanished
Beyond the reach of prayer

Inside these crimson veins, flows a love
Brighter than the tides of change
More alive than my fears or pain

Love like this leaves its mark on my soul
Shouting through the silent thoughts
About the truth of giving fully
