YOUTH AND OLD AGE
Get off your galloping horse of youth’s impressions
Stop looking down upon old age with contempt
You are still on the planes of doubt and uncertainties
Having not yet made in life any real attempt.
Not even a hill of problems have you ascended
Neither have you faced a serious thunderstorm
How is it possible for you ever to be assuming
Without experience your elders to reform?
You better stop and think for a single moment
All those whose heads have turned white or gray
How many hills of harm and mountains of troubles
Have they been through and climbed to this day?
Your youth, a spectacular time, for you to enjoy
Dreams to make of what you would wish to assure
Sadly though the future for you a possibility is only
For everyone knows that nothing in life is for sure.
So the preferable thing you ought to be doing
Is to listen carefully to these experienced old folks
For better, it is to learn from mistakes they made
Than knowledge to gain from your very own faults!

A euphemism! I? That I do decry!
Why the very word does imply
That I would ignore, omit, pervert…
If only to prevent some hurt.
Well, let me speak out forthright:
Search thoroughly my ways as I might
I truly must express some doubt
That a that is what I am about.
The purveyors of confusion
Suffer from a big delusion:
‘Lest anyone think I am unfair
I will look into it, that I swear.
Of all the words that I may rend
Lest some of you misapprehend:
It is quite uncouth, and not so grand
To replace the truth with something bland.
I am no cosmetic, that I vow.
I simply put a smoother finish
Upon the face of things, somehow
To enhance, but not diminish.
When things are not so peachy keen
My words can keep things bright and clean.
I ply those gears which do not quite mesh
With unguent words that do refresh.
One charge which will not bear any fruit
Is that I do circumlocute.
My words such a charge does refute:
I tell it straight sans substitute.
For those who think I do mislead
‘Tis clear my words they do misread.
When what I say is scarce obscure
Why is their translation so impure?
Some suggest, my words to defeat
Are oft effete and incomplete.
Should I really have contrition
For occasional omission?
I think I will withhold comment.
Controversy I will not foment!
Believe me, I will not attempt
To discuss things beneath contempt.
What would it be like
If towards the end of our lives
They showed a movie
Of our life and times
What would it be about
Would it draw a big crowd
What would the rating be
And would kids be allowed
Would they laugh or cry
Gladly pay the full price
When the scary parts played
Would they cover their eyes
Would we be ashamed
If our families came
At the end of the film
Would they see us the same
Would it be action packed
A Super Hero unmasked
If nobody else
Would our kids be impressed
Would they be happy or sad
When the credits rolled past
Would the movie explain
We did our very best
What would they find
If towards the end of our lives
They showed a movie
Of our life and times
It seems we've come up with numerous definitions,
For life, and what it all means.
From the biological to the philosophical,
And all the various strata in between.
The scholarly sciences, may include the aspects
That need to respirate, regulate, and replicate.
While philosophers might wonder how we
Facilitate, proliferate, or just deal with our hate.
Recently I've seen our evolution, along the
Political spectrum grow and accumulate.
Where fantasy has driven false narratives,
And chaos remained for those to speculate.
Will life now be defined by the social-economic,
Or will it divide our very structure again?
Since these interactions can certainly be the death of us all,
And life may never be the same as it has been.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” Anatole France, French Poet
A pet can steal your heart.
The dog that you brought home
who always wants to play
is one you come to know
you’ll never give away
A pet can steal your heart.
A precious kitty cat
at night curls up with you -
if ever she gets sick,
there’s nothing you won’t do.
A pet can steal your heart.
It doesn’t matter if
it’s very big or small
because when you are hooked,
you’ll give that pet your all.
A pet can steal your heart.
I know this truth because
when my dear pets passed on,
I sadly realized
bits of my heart were gone.
It's a very simple fact, that the mind is a terrible thing to waste.
You can forget everything you ever heard, it's the mind that sets the pace
The heart is very strong, it determines the love or the hate
But it to depends on the mind, to tell it what decision to make.
Then come your emotions showing whether you're happy or maybe sad,
But if it wasn't for your mind controlling your emotions ,
You'd just be truly mad.
Ask someone how they're feeling, and they might say just fine, how would you really know unless you could read their mind.
Loose your heart it's okay it'll all heal over time
But I haven't seen too many people recover, once they've lost their minds.
So use your mind wisely. Remember sometimes it's deserves a break
Cause once everything else in your life goes weary it's the mind that puts it back in place
Noise
Life is so full of noise.
Perhaps, even before the moment of birth
the noise, the sounds of living begin
inundating each second of our becoming,
into our very existence and life.
Tears and crying, pain and heartache are not the start
those moments at conception are not lost to us,
it lies in our DNA almost irretrievable
but still there waiting to come forth.
Noise of every kind initiated us to life.
Some hear a joyful, passionate and loving noise
that giggles, tickles, laughs and breathes joy
while others face it with doubt, hesitation and fear
holding back then coming forward unsure, methodic, logically.
Despite the noise and its particular sound
all come forth at a specified moment
taking their place amid the noise of life.
One wish was all it took to become
that realistic dreamer too bold and fearsome;
challenges taken weren't insignificant
to defeat the slickness of the ruthless tyrant!
And he suppressed the kid's aspirations transformed
by need not forced choice into effervescent dreams
to stay clear of retribution, of a possible vengeance;
and yet hope incessantly gleamed regardless of fears!
One can be deviated from a stranded thought, but not for long;
what was set in motion by God will occur in predestined time!
Who wants to be the server of the master who oversees his life?
Escape can mean freedom unless the shackles have been removed;
there he ran with jubilant gladness, humming a fervent song
that made all trees bow and all flowers offer their fragrance!
O dreamer crown your head with great glory,
reject who hands you gold to amass his treasure
with more jewels and sapphires of inestimable value;
he might be generous once, then greed he will continue to pursue!
O dreamer, riches become shallow: if inside is cultured modesty!
How many wishes can one have? Will they all be real?
Center your attention on what seems very promising,
empty out the stagnant water from your slow windmill,
fill it with your divergent curiosity and stay amazing!
Some people have 'the look' and exemplify 'the part' for a lifetime.
The curtain has opened; their 'stage of life' unfolds, and the role they
seem destined to play, is set on autopilot with predictable outcomes.
Some others don't turn out the way they started.
Their personalities seem to take on a different being when
their environment changes. Their once WITHDRAWN persona
somehow escapes the narrow cave in which they were born.
In high school, their true FEELINGS seemed mostly SHROUD,
and any notion of freeing them from what seems a state
of DEPRESSION was out of the question. Nothing seemed to
ever excite them, and it appeared as if they were sold into
slavery and doomed to a life of MELANCHOLY.
They were never accused of being anti-social, but they certainly
were not very sociable. Their personal view of the world or even
their community was always totally GRIM, and their best
outlook on the world at large was sad and GLOOMY.
Notwithstanding, there are many who break free from the inward
WISTFUL state and become vocal leaders with broad opinions. From
wounded wings and borders of limitation, they rise and soar like eagles.
They tune into their creator, and discovering the purpose for which
they were born, deposit their unique contributions to their world.
