[Foreigner]
waiting for a girl like you -
the wild flower by the gate
[Phil Collins]
another day in paradise -
my love chalice filled and refilled
[The Beatles]
here comes the sun -
furtively she draws the curtain to my heart
[Creedence Clearwater Revival]
have you ever seen the rain?
I was blind to unspoken love
[Simon & Garfunkel]
the sound of silence -
we dance to the rhythm of our hearts
[Lady Antebellum]
need you now -
the rose petals keep falling…down
[A Rocket to the Moon]
baby blue eyes -
heaven reflected in the swell of the sea
[Mary Hopkin]
those were the days
…and then your hand slipped out of mine
[Sting]
fields of gold -
the setting sun ripples on water
[Ronan Keating]
when you say nothing at all -
searching for reassurance in your eyes

I was born in 1793
I have a bronze sconce
For everyone to see
I get around the world scene
Much like Santa Claus
Much like Magdalene
Created in this image
I am also on the $5 bill
A Mt. Rushmorean visage
But now I must say goodbye
No more to be cast
No more to die
In each pocket that I tickle
No more keeping company
With a quarter, dime or a nickel
Because my worth is less than I cost
Read my epitaph
"A Penny For Your Thoughts"
Post Script:
In the death of me
A lonely one cent piece
Hold on tight to my memory
So don't let go of me in vain
Remember the Beatles
Remember Penny Lane
And I was hoping to relax
With this copper-toned beauty
That shored up sales tax
Lisa comes into my room and flops on the bed. The day had been uncompromisingly gray, windy and cold. The night sky was a snowy, blowing darkness, an absolute void that absorbed the campus lights and reflected nothing back. “I’m missing Spring Break,” Lisa she says.
“It doesn’t even seem like Spring Break happened,” I say. “Most Yalies went to Puerto Rico this year, I think, from my sampling.”
“RIGHT?” Lisa said, “EVERYONE says that - we’re in sync. But *I* enjoyed Paris,” Lisa continued, “I liked your family - no - I LOVED your family,” she amends.
“THAT’s a strong take,” I say, chuckling.
“I watched basketball with your uncle (Rémi) and cousins and helped your grandma cook,” she explains, “I felt like a part of your family.”
“Aww,” I say, “You ARE part of my family now - you’re TRAPPED,” and we laughed.
They invented spring break because after several months, the student mind starts to notice a harsh reality - how much their dorm room resembles a cinder-block jail cell - and starts to wonder how a lifetime of study and stress over grades has gotten them no further in life than the average felon.
We’re at lunch. Lisa says, “Ok, what’s new with you?” Keep in mind we see each other ten times a day.
“Well,” I say, I’ve decided that “The Beatles are for spring.” Lisa laughs. “Stop!” I demand, “I’m going deep. Today’s song is Julia,” I say, “It’s John Lennon’s song to his mom who was run over by a car when he was a child.” “I love that song,” Lisa says.
“Ok, what about you?” I ask.
“My song right now is “Move like a Boss,” Lisa says, “When I’m walking across campus, with my air pods on - I’m intense, don’t get in my way - I’m dangerous, I’ll Will Smith you - I scare me.”
“Good to Know,” I say, wishing I’d gotten a lemon brownie.
Then add, “I’ve got this presentation on Monday that I haven’t even had time to *look* at yet. If I don’t get on it by this weekend it’ll be a nuclear-level disaster. I started on it yesterday and the Internet went down for 20 minutes. It was stressful - of course, you don’t know how long the outage is going to be when you’re IN it - and I had THINGS to do - is that convoluted? ”
“No,” Lisa says, nodding in agreement, “losing the Interweb’s traumatic.”
GIVE ME SOME TRUTH
John, was born October 9, 1940, in Liverpool
He met Paul McCartney in 1957
John and Paul formed a close working relationship ... COME TOGETHER
Young and fearless guys with music as the common interest
Over time, it became a REVOLUTION
When we talk about John Lennon, his name associates with The Beatles
With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney,
George Harrison and Ringo Starr
WELL, WELL, WELL in the music world it became POWER TO THE PEOPLE
John left The Beatles in September 1969, a new TICKET TO RIDE
CLEANUP TIME for the skilled songwriter, vocalist and guitarist
- He would continue as a solo artist BLESS YOU
I became LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS when I listened to his music
LIVING IS EASY WITH EYES CLOSED, sounded so beautiful
NOBODY TOLD ME, that John was actually a heavy drug user
IT'S SO HARD ... to deal with
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE, greatest of all is love
IMAGINE, John and me in the NORWEGIAN WOOD
STARTING OVER, a new life in my home country
MOTHER ... HERE WE GO AGAIN ... I was in love
GROW OLD WITH ME John,
happiness is a word that tastes sweet in my mouth
Together with you, the song begins to find the right sound
STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
I AM THE WALRUS - a stupid young girl who dreams
NOBODY LOVES YOU (When You're Down And Out)
John lived on BORROWED TIME,
bitter rivals and demons sparkle in the air
I feel lonely ... and I'M SO TIRED
MOTHER said : YOU GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY
... YA YA

World of Insanity
Cold war,main destiny,
Death is the symphony,
Blood shed and heroes be
Great men in history.
Mourn's drums in melody,
No peace for you and me.
If only it could be
not just a fantasy
lit candles by the sea
White flags of Victory
Nations in Harmony
One world,One family
the voice of let it be.
I was inspired by Carolyn Devonshire's last contest,a Monorhyme with a message,
I don't know if this poem passes as a Monorhyme.. I tried.. and the message is for peace..
Inspired by the BEATLES song too..Let it be... One of my favourite songs.. Charma
It’s funny how each generation thinks their music is the best
that the songs of their youth are the best songs…
and how each generation knows that they are right…
and every other generations out there must be wrong…
For instance my generation listened to the Beatles, the Jackson 5…
we felt like dancing…we came alive.
We listened to James Taylor and Stevie Wonder too.
Karen Carpenter…what a voice…Simon and Garfunkel was a choice,
we listened to Three Dog Night and a band called the Guess Who.
There was Norman Greenbaum, the Temptations…the tunes of our young generation
with the music playing our heartbeats all increased.
We could have been a little smarter…we did listened to Patches by Clarence Carter
okay, we were eclectic to say the least.
Neil Diamond kept us grooving…The Supremes kept us moving
We listened to 8 track tapes inside our cars.
We sang along with the Kinks and Four Tops…we danced without shoes at sock hops
Credence Clearwater Revival we affectionately called CCR.
In sharing this music with each other…we became our sisters and our brothers.
We liked the way the music moved…we liked its rhyme.
Why…is difficult to say…but music had a way
of linking us all together over time.
And though it’s hard now to behold…how we and our music have grown old
separated by time and often distance
I’m sure my generation would agree…even those who sang off-key
those songs were vital to the heart of our existence.
Which is why we not only have a knack…but we love looking back…
and listening to those wonderful old songs…
I imagine that’s why whenever we hear…a song from our past…we cheer
and why we pump up the volume…and sing along.
So my case…I must now rest…it’s plain the music from my generation is the best…
and why the songs from our youth are the best songs…
And though you might have the temptation…to think the same about your generation..
I’m sorry to say…you would be wrong.
I was driving along on a summer’s day
Windows down, loving my life
The radio was playing seventies music
The Beatles, Cher, Bette Midler, Mamas and Papas
It was one of those days when you know everything is going right.
But alas, it was not to be
For I suddenly realized I was driving ninety miles an hour on gravel
And there was no way to make the T turn up ahead
So said “God, I’ve had a great life!” knowing this was the end.
I did not ask for help. I had an utter knowing it was over.
I hit a huge earth embankment at about seventy-five miles an hour
I closed my eyes right before I hit.
You know how they tell you that you look down and see your body?
I felt complete and utter disappointment that I was still in my body.
What the heck happened? I was supposed to die.
Upon reflection years later, I wondered at the complete feeling of utter disappointment.
The only thing I can figure out is that death is better than earth life.
Because I was TOTALLY disappointed.
And before this I never knew I would ever want to die.
So I sat here, in the country, before cell phones, wondering what I would do next.
Were my legs crushed? Was my back broken? Was my neck broken?
Was I dead and I was not smart enough to know it?
I opened the car door and got out.
Expecting to fall but I did not.
I waved down another car and they took me back to town.
I ran in the house and yelled to my husband “give me the keys to your truck!”
He said “where is your car?”
It was the third one I had totaled in about eighteen months.
I had to wrestle him for those damned keys.
It was September of 1960 and we were growing
Elvis sang "It's Now or Never" anticipation showing
New kids in town for our Freshman year
Our last at St. Jerome's, adulthood near.
We hung out at the Coffee Cup on Berwick Street
Five Point Diner and Palma were sweet
We never dreamed of growing old
Back when we wore blue and gold.
Sophomore year brought us to Saint Ann
Not old enough yet to be called a man
Hitch hike to the My Place and Bowling Alley
Travelled around the Panther Valley
Weekends looking for a brand new thrill
Going to the Coffee Shop in Summit Hill
On the Juke box "Runaround Sue" and "Cathy's Clown"
If "Rumble" came on we'd quickly leave town
Building memories as each day would unfold
Back when we wore blue and gold.
62 saw the Four Seasons singing "Sherry"
Our next two years would be with Saint Mary
Pep rallies in the court yard, who could forget
Sneak down to Henry's for a cigarette
Laughing, joking, we were only sixteen
Drop another nickel in the pinball machine
Flip a coin for a pool game, choose who will rack
Fan buses for away games, have a smoke in the back
Lou Christie sang "Two Faces Have I "
"The End of The World " made Skeeter cry
It was 63 and our time was near
We were starting our senior year
Unsure of what our future would hold
Back when we wore blue and gold
November came and some of us cried
The Friday President Kennedy died
Before the storm there is always a calm
Trouble brewing in Vietnam
In 64, invaded by another land
The Beatles wanted to hold our hand
The school would be one next year we were told
Back when we wore blue and gold
June arrived, graduation day
A time to rejoice, a time to pray
To change the world, thoughts so bold
Back when we wore blue and gold.
Sunday 6th July 2025,
On this day. B turned one year older than last night.
I sent him best wishes through XMPP Apps.
However, he would never receive that,
Because he ended our friendship August last year,
Since then, he never open and read the Apps.
When I arrived at MCentral,
The first song I played no other than Happy Birthday,
Then "The Moon represents my heart".
While playing there, I could hear the loud voices,
From that particular shop and I became annoyed.
This day, I cut my piano time short,
And went to Victoria Market to shop
Passing through many delicatens stalls.
There were tasting offers along the corridors.
I continued waving through the crowds.
All of a sudden, I had mix feeling sad and proud,
Sad, not because BB was not here,
I knew he could never be here.
He was a loner, he hated crowded areas,
He felt very uncomfortable in the public places.
He has had serious issues with privacy,
He had no phone, not land line or mobile.
He againsted all the governments departments,
But enjoyed the local community amenity.
I thought that was pathetic.
He was there to use the internet only.
We shared that space for six months.
When he installed so many firm wares,
Apps liked Open Camera, New Pipe, and Image Pipe,
Fennec, Musicolet, MPV and Tedit, OSMApps and F-Droid.
Feeling proud because I was still be able to travel
To enjoy my life to the fullest.
7.7.2025, I played "Yesterday" by the Beatles.
Beside one particular famous Asian song,
BB loved Prince especially "Purple Rain"
I knew I could never play that.
We had some different taste in music.
I could not stand Prince's appearance,
It frightened me without reasons.
I believe in warmth
the comforting embrace of a loved one
crackling campfire on a January night
the smile of one who knows you're here to stay
it's been a long, cold lonely winter
I believe in hope
faith is the assurance of things hoped for
the certainty of what we do not see
I don't see it, but I know it's coming
it feels like years since it's been here
I believe in love
the tide that lifts all boats
the surprise gift
the compassionate ear that truly listens
the smiles returning to the faces
I believe in light
and the One who said, "let there be light"
the true light that gives light
empress of the night reflecting glory of the daystar
it seems like years since it's been clear
I believe in song
we sang to the moon last night as she rose:
"Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Moonshadow",
"By the Light of the Silvery Moon".
Little darling, it's all right
We sing again in chill of daybreak
with the roseate glow of realized anticipation…
"Here Comes the Sun"
// The song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles has been my favorite song as long as I can remember, for its simple message of hope, light, warmth, and love. It was the song my daughter chose to have played just before we walked the aisle on her wedding day, a very special moment for me. //
