The Greatest Wonder

Outside I sat, to see the blue sky,
As the earth revolves, it passes by,
By the sea, I see the flowing water
Of its number amount, I ponder,
It's creatures, some meek some wild,
So the sea is seen both gentle and wild,
The men so wise,inovative,
So lovely and creative.
There is a thougth in my mind,
Which truely, is no crime.
What else is the greatest wonder?
Isn't earth?
Where foul and fair causes ponder?
Where polished woods are mistaken for gold?
How do we survive here with all the shots-cardinal wise;
With security as the pride of every nation
This can be proved in the "Daily's" headlines
Where it is been advertised.
Bribery seems the normal way
Else you die trying
The say it's survival of the fittest,
But I think the survors are super-fit
For it's an omni-wonder
To survive in such a wonder.

Premium Member I was born there

I was born in the odds,
I lived through it,
dotted the lines on my path
I was born among hyenas,
these scrambling to stiffen the last breath,
Amidst hurts and hate first from home,

A lot cast in mirage and fantasies,
Hope too soon cut short,
Survival, a struggle,
Unexplainable Fratricidal warfare,
The closer in blood, the more bloodier,

A race without consent
A badge of calumny,
Shot on the heels like Achilles,
Bore cruelty from innocence to adulthood,
Unending miasma, the debacles of a short existence,

Abandoned, secluded,
for reaction occasioned by their own bile,
Childhood stolen,
set on a slippery path as they watch a peradventure slide to my ill.
From ambuscade, they drew their swords,
Their arrows bathed in blood unabated,
Aiming at my marrows,

I groan and mourn in the dark,
Enemies as friends monitoring,
Friends as enemies watching.
This path not by Choice.
I lived through it,
A thousand bands of beasts assaulting,
Into this war, enlisted.

I was born there, buoyed by troubadour,
Somewhere in Africa,
My right are taken away from me,
Where laws are drafted by criminals,
Where the police pay themselves on the streets,
Where certificate are mere papers with payments,

I was born there ,
Where criminals are protected and sanity deemed madness,
Somewhere in West Africa
where compassion is extinct
The survival of the fittest,
Street boys kills to survive,
Scholars abandon politics to simpleton,
Where the brightest are critics and cadres prevents the ambitious

I live there,
Where certificate is a document to escape,
Lawyers now charge and bail for survival,
Doctors protesting like urchins
Poets selling cosmetics,
bankers riding "Okada",
Amongst drug peddlers,
Amongst cultist,
Where clergymen induce the gullible,
In this cage we call country.
I was born there.

Premium Member The Darwin Awards

The Darwin Awards are based upon Darwin's theory
regarding the survival of the fittest and elimination of the weak.
The less intelligent die off and are eliminated from the gene pool
and it is to they that the Darwin Awards are awarded to.
The Darwin Awards are awarded tongue in cheek.
Awards are given to they who died due to their own stupidity.
Paul Stiller, 47, and his wife Bonnie
were bored just driving around at about 2 A.M.
so they lit a quarter stick of dynamite to toss out the window
just to see what would happen.
Someone should have told them that the window was closed.
and so to Paul and Bonnie Stiller this Darwin Award goes.
However, they don't truly qualify for a Darwin Award actually
because both of them miraculously survived their injuries,
but I'm sure that a Darwin Award will be granted in their future inevitably.

Premium Member Almost Spring

folding the trees, branch by branch;
rolling the leaves.

slender sticks play eye tricks;
fat and juicy ones’ carried downwards.

small branches gathered;
large ones, heave ho.

these matchsticks aren’t lit,
and I don’t know

how my small forest thrives
…and then a sound

an engine near, grinding
through my Winter lookout,

across the way, creating empty space
for kids to safely play.

the trees are stressed; and relieved
as the roaring stops

at the edge. on edge
they want to dress their best,

in Spring’s verdancy -
it seems an emergency

to get on with it; buds
will show up after the tempest,

for survival of the fittest,
at least that’s the way

the wind blows now
…then silence.

A Tale of Survival

A naive grasshopper
spun in the death web of a starving wolf spider,
Providing hours of facination and wonder to the curious child
He too must learn survival of the fittest
the laws and rules his own kind has created
"For my own good indeed" he mutters under his breath
The spider has his fill
wraps the remaining morsel for another day
The child sighs and rolls over in the tall swale
and with artistic fingers draws outltlines of the billowing clouds above.
"This is me being free" he boldly declares to the universe.
The spider retreats to his cave sated and satisfied
provision somehow made it to his doorstep just in time.
The child rises and crosses the field
to where the monster with the heavy hand is waiting to greet him
 and the cold shiver begins.
"Who will rescue me today", he silently wonders,
but today survival of the fittest he will learn well,
and like the spider
he will retreat to that special cave he has created
where the vicious blows are never felt.
And the child lives another day.

Rah! Rah! Rah! Sis Boom Bah!
Everyone stand up and cheer
A more upbeat poem you'll never find
Pay attention and listen here!

Funny how moods go up and down
Like a proverbial yo-yo
Maintaining a balance is a full time job
Life's like a bucking bronco

Survival of the fittest is what it's about
Rule's been around forever
Keep on top, don't let down your guard
Be true to every endeavour

Eventually you'll accomplish all your goals
Maybe sooner or maybe later
Depends on so many unknown factors
Don't just sit there as a spectator

Make it happen keep on top of your game
Don't waiver, flinch, or pause
Winners always keep their eye on the prize
Forever stay true to your cause

Rah! Rah! Rah! Sis Boom Bah!
Stay focused, me buckeroos
Happy or crabby, giggly or cantankerous
Can't blame nobody else but you!

The Survival of the Fittest

—the journey of a herd of mustangs in a picture on the wall—

The story begins with two stallions at the water’s edge, facing each other. When one of the stallions irritated, impatiently hits the surface of water with his hoof, the splashes of the water fly all over in the air as if it’s a declaration of merciless war. Then a ghastly fight has begun between two of them. They bite, kick, and wrestle each other in the shallow water to defeat one another. Each time one attacks his opponent, they raise high in the air with hind legs, they shake their gorgeous manes and necks, their muscle quake, and the blood spouts out from their shoulders.

After the long and bloody fight is over and the one who lost in battle draws back, the victor marches in triumph to the herd of mustangs. Nevertheless, the high and intermittent background music and splashing wavelets on the water’s edge scenery introduce the tension and suggest ever-ending darkness to come. They run down the stream while pushing each other as if they were compelled by the fate, which is invisible, or to say that they were driven by some evil but absolute power that is unavoidable. They pass through the deserted field; they swim to cross the rushing stream as if silvery dolphin in the water; they strut through the fog as if they were Pegasus galloping on the cloud; they even dash through the blazing fire like the Phoenix rising from cold ashes. The victor, now, dives into bottomless water before his many followers for a long journey; yet, the destination unknown.

Left Wing Good Right Wing Nazi

Conspiracies of ignorance protect an ideology
feeling good from being nice while hatred behaves horribly
when you believe you hold a view righteous and morally
but have you really got a clue when you follow authority

If it’s a case of good and bad complexities are shallow
when they taught you of the world what they taught was narrow
you need to look outside the west at what beliefs they follow
to understand the threat you face if you accept the sorrow

They may teach you history is your debt to repay
but all they do is tell you to give your whole life away
and history ain’t black or white it’s more a shade of grey
survival of the fittest is the brutal game we play

Sometimes we’re good sometimes we’re bad but you just need to be
as only those who dominate control their destiny
should you give away your fate and lose your legacy
the family that you leave behind will never live life free

The priceless value of the life that you got to inherit
offers you a unique chance that you cannot see perish
one that you must see protected built upon to cherish
the suffering follows the fall if you allow and let it

To be good is to put your own people before a stranger
being nice means sacrifice and that creates a danger
who are they to teach you that you owe the world a favour
you only get one chance to live so don’t grow old a traitor

If you only listen to the left speak bad of the right
filling you with guilt and shame away from all the light
you’ll never understand why you exist to take the fight
this country has a history that will make your pride ignite

Premium Member Shame and Honor

the weak, they fall in silence on the way
they're wounded by the words that people say
the strong, they keep on marching night and day
and for the fallen, they don't stop to pray

the Darwin theory plays in social life
survival of the fittest in the strife
The strong, they maim and then run off in glee
A branch struck down from their familial tree

Community, a fable, sweet to share
but fable nonetheless, so few can care
If one is, hurt the body, it must bleed*
But it goes on, dismembered by the deed

There is no honor in demeaning talk
The walk of shame, the path they will not walk

Eileen Manassian

I come from a shame and honor society....a person's good name is more important to him/her than fortune or fame. So few know the meaning of true honor....The Bible comes from this region of the world...

Proverbs 12: 1 & 2-
 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

New International Version (NIV)

Matthew 12: 36- But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

Empty words...Jesus says that if you call your brother stupid....you are in danger of hell fire....Something to think about....

Matthew 5:22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

*In I Corinthians 12, Paul uses the analogy of the body to depict the community spirit that believers should have:

22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor......that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Premium Member The World Is Not Fair

Prepare yourself my child: This big world isn’t fair.

The illusion that the world is fair will not serve you
even when it’s not busy with genocide and apartheid.
Bullies are everywhere and come in all shapes and sizes,
some even wear disguises. There’s no safe place:
society, school, work, and even home for some.

Life is not fair ~ the trick is to make the most
of your life in a world of bullies.
Sounds negative but no, it will serve you to be prepared,
don’t be under the illusion that the world is fair.

Greed is everywhere but appreciate kindness when you come across it.
Think of the daily survival of the fittest in the wild:
That’s nature and mankind could choose to live with higher morals.
Truth is… it doesn’t always but when it does it’s marvelous.

Once you are of age to make decisions,
you can choose not to be a bully yourself
and possibly see ways of righting wrongs, even fighting injustices.
Let your mission in life be to create fairness around you.

I hope you meet more than your share of
people who will be positive, encouraging and loving.

In spite of the harshness of reality,
butterflies still choose to gracefully dance through life.
They appreciate sunlight and don’t complain
about the length of their short life.
Carefree of carnivores or butterfly catchers around the corner,
butterflies think only of adoring sunshine
and dancing free for whatever time they have.
