Hoisted high above the ground
Floating in the gentle breeze
Colors and symbols depict a message
That some reject, but others please
Be it local or in a foreign land
Violence or peace it can incite
Some may regard it nonchalent
But others defend, with all their might
It's the mouthpiece and sounding board
Of what is in the human heart
Of those who raise it to it's perch
As their position they seek to impart
Yes, - the flag can easily define
How we view, life, liberty and death
Many seek to extol it's virtue
Guarding it, until their final breath
Isaiah spoke of lifting a banner
It draped over Solomon with love
Should it not be the guiding force
Symbolizing, as a peaceful dove
So, let the Christian hoist it high
In action, word and deed
Always portraying Christ as King
May God grant this to be our creed

I found myself
struggling for a sounding board
between the sandwiches of lunch,
dinner, and savory understanding.
There are birds between
songs.
They sing resoundingly
better than me.
I ran by a pond at dusk
when no one was looking,
but little me, who struggled to see
meaning where the colors
separate for separate
identity.
The common grackles
grackle to be heard,
like all of us with a working pulse,
arguing at the end of a day.
I signed my signature tonight
for a loan I don't understand.
There are things bigger
and smaller than me,
ants and fireflies,
that challenge infinity
and confuse the calmness
of understanding.
I will go home
and try again
tomorrow.
A true industry legend
One of a kind boss
Known to many
But extremely special to all of us
You are just something else
We mean that in the best way
Your humorous spirit and jokes
Can brighten any day
You honestly have no filter
You will say it like it is
You are unapologetically you
But that is who we want you to be
You were our boss
But also, entertainer, mentor, and partner
You were a sounding board, comforter
And to many a father
You built something amazing
To that we can all agree
A legendary company
Where we really love to be
You deserve this retirement
More than anyone we know
Pick up your guitar
And do more shows
We will continue to build
What you worked on for years
No need to worry
Go pop those beers
To an industry legend
Raise your glass, and let's all cheers
As this legend is on his way
To enjoy his retirement years
Sins of a father
While younger we were running, to what we did not know.
Quick to love, fast at play, a canvas white as snow.
But as we grew in knowledge and taller by the day
cracks they began showing, a chasm in the way
you fought for us how you knew how, working to the bone
I never said I wasn’t grateful for providing us a home
What I needed was a sounding board, someone who could hear
Someone who would take the time, to lend me just an ear
Instead I felt I walked alone, I made my own mistakes
Some choices led to chaos, and others tranquil lakes
What hurt me most while suffering and feeling all alone
You made it all about you, instead of picking up the phone
I’ve tried many times to build, different styles of bridges
No matter how far I got, it seemed I always missed by inches
With nothing built upon your bank, from what I could see
Yet still you spoke on my behalf, as if you knew me
I have other things to build now, I too have kids at home
I too have neglected them, by working to the bone
The cracks I see them coming, though the chasms not yet here
I pray that I can close them up, by listening while their near
Patience is a virtue, one that I rarely saw used
I must now forge another way, there’s still too much to lose
The sins of the father, are passed to the next one
I hope with mine I bridge the gaps, and grow old with my son
My Halloween Kitty (written 10/11/2020) free verse
I had a familiar named Callie
She was born on Halloween.
Feral siblings abandoned at my door.
I took the whole litter to the SPCA.
They neutered and spayed them all for me.
The ears were notched so they’d go free
if the pound police appeared.
I brought the clowder home and cared for them
until their stitches had permanently healed,
then allowed them outside to roam on their own.
They all left for adventures beyond –
with the exception of Callie.
Callie was brindled in black and orange
with a white-star chest and white-tipped tail;
short hair she maintained fastidiously.
She continually spoke to me in cat language
and we managed a conversation of sorts.
She bid me good day as I left in the mornings
and listened to my tales when I returned.
She monitored my feelings as if a therapist
and counseled me on the course I must take
when I was feeling at my lowest.
I called her my Halloween kitty
and she expressed that was okay.
We counted years by her birthdays,
celebrating Halloween every year.
She disregarded the trick-or-treaters.
My sounding board and steadfast friend;
I miss her terribly now that she’s gone.
She remained with me 17 years, two years passed,
through sad, glad, distress, and happiness.
She was my mainstay on my darkest days.
I had a familiar named Callie
She was born on Halloween.
Butterflies know the meaning of life upon transformation
They flit, flutter, and dazzle the flowers into their confidence
You have that way about you, listening with your full heart
Knowing I need a sounding board but silence not suggestion
Like luna moth,
You are my listening man
My happily forever after
The one who understands
My need for silence
Dragonflies incorporate the gift of silence into twilight
They appear in spirit form, giving me a gentle boost
You have that way about you, loving me in spite of my frailties
Ignoring the way I sometimes misspeak or mistreat you
Like luna moth,
You are my listening man
My happily forever after
The one who understands
My need for silence
"My brain is only a receiver, in the universe
there is a core from which we obtain knowledge,
strength and inspiration."
The human brain as a mass of neuronal sensitivity,
has no power to enlarge its awareness by itself alone,
yet once a person comes to understand
that it must let go of being a creator, then it becomes
a sounding board, a receiver of unthinkable realities.
Mentation is the after-thought of receiving, it is often
an imperfect picturing of that which was received,
but know that for one holy instant, the brain like a flower,
bloomed wide enough to capture a fragment of Mind.
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe,
think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration."
And the greatest of this trinity (this one in three),
is vibration. For energy can be directionless,
while frequency can modulate, but vibration
resonates and that resonation is the voice of the Universe,
and it will speak within in you if your hear
at the speed of light.
Once upon a time,
That seems so long a go now,
We were smarter and wiser,
For longer.
But we cannot take credit for that,
No, that is down to three diaries,
That once gave us daily reminders,
But always leaving the actual decision-making in our hands.
The first always there to greet us in the morning,
And tell us what day it was and whether it was a work day,
Or a play day,
And remind us of things we needed to do,
The people we needed to see,
And what times we needed to remember,
As well as what we needed to pick up on the way home.
It also gave warning of upcoming events, birthdays, anniversary's etc.,
That we could otherwise forget and suffer the consequences.
And as I write this I just remembered the pocket diary,
That linked the home diary to the work dairy,
Informing it of events that would would keep us away from work,
And gripes we had that it should know about.
As well as keeping us up to date with all things work related,
The work diary had the duty of making sure the pocket diary,
Did not leave without a list of all relevant notes papers to take home.
Finally we come to the personal diary,
If we decided we needed an extra sounding board,
To help us reset our emotional clock.
Or wanted affirmation regarding decisions we had made,
Or were about to make.
Back to the modern world,
Where we most have no use for a diary,
Relying instead on artificial intelligence,
Which does our thinking for us,
All based on instructions from a select few humans,
Who in hindsight we should have not let touch,
Or do anything without proof they knew what a diary was for,
And could find in it words to the wise,
Regarding why it is important to have fully functioning,
Non artificial brains around,
For ever and ever amen!
i think i think too much and as of such i write
way to much and so no one can read it all
so so many i enjoyed writing hoping they
would be liked get shuffled in the deck of
only 10 every 24 hours. but i also realize that
i take no time to refine perhaps define my words
instead of a blurt a slobber a slur most times
just to get a laugh which i most love about life
so please dear reader before you go onto the
next twenty written forget them, i've only every
deleted one poem off my list, and so they will
be there waiting for you if you want to keep
reading me- THANKS ALL for support i've
only been on this site for about 11 months
but love what i have read; love what i see with
comments, and since i belong to no other
source of social media, PoetrySoup is my
sounding board so please throw any rocks
or comments and I'll be sure to respond.

Gb2 's a radio show, it airs in Sydney...But there's more to know.'
Ben Fordam has been speaking out, on the covid dictates
Roundabout on where the science meets the facts
Whether it's all altruistic.? Or do some just act?
Also acts that block, that rile and shock; that lay down demands
That cost a lot..' Much production is de-railed; Aussie
Dreams now are ships with tattered sails, I hear that Ben is
Triple vaxed.. ) an early advocate, was his shout not so lax.'
Yet now he'll listen to anti-views ' To me that rings like
Dinkum news.' He' on facebook; and also twitter He's
A sounding board; and I'd reckon, a real heavy hitter.'
I haven't met the man as yet.' But I like the idea that
He's listening, and talking.' that's the part I really get.!
Go for it Ben,.' I will also here give mention to another
Australian heveyweight journalist Andrew Bolt a legend
In his time and this field, who has been questioning things
And even resigned, from the official endorsed media he
Was involved in, If I get time I will do him in a piece also '
