Hollow odes lament where waves crash depthless
Oh! How ocean lacking light spills woe so!
Lackluster grays wail unkempt longingness
Lone stander bleeds the dreams of times ago
O'er the screaming wind, a seagull's bleak cries
weeps of cloudiness usurping the day
Heaven's warmth obscured, and now coldness vies,
overwhelming where vast emptiness slays
Left purposeless, wavering dark takes hold
looping tight a lynch-like corrosive noose
Otiose life sucks vim where sharks enfold,
wrecked in sunless abyss of night let loose
But Sol, unconquerable, beams once more
and the lighthouse sings, full of birds from shore!

December rains have dragged last, lingering leaves
down into litter. Sodden almond-casks
that once bore kernels, strewn discarded masks,
repose redundant. Thoughts are threadbare sleeves
devoid of comfort. Like a lonely cello,
the wind whips fitfully about its tasks.
A chaffinch flicks a fruitless shell, and asks:
the year must disappear to sere, to yellow?
Expecting legible patterns in dispersal,
she wishes worldwide winter worked for her,
have secret feelings yield the universal.
The nutshell, now inert, helps her infer
that life must die, but strangely, must prevail.
December’s just the belly of the whale.
Oh Sol, Oh Sol,
You have been there to see it all.
From Meteors and Craters
to Meat and P'taters.
The Lord set you above us with distinctive ire,
to give Earth life by your distant fire.
You have seen the planets ever go 'round,
Continuing fixation as worlds abound.
Your warmth gave us the atmosphere we cherish,
from the first amoeba to the dinosaurs' perish.
Then, as we cooled in your radiant light,
Man was formed and stood upright.
We seem to have no lack of *****,
as can be witnessed by our "space junk".
We have seen your eclipses a time or two,
We have visited the moon, and other planets too.
What we lack is a humble nature,
for Man is but a prideful creature.
We think we are the "Cat's Meow",
when all we are is the back end of a sow.
We will be humbled and afraid as you slowly grow,
Swallowing planets along the way as you go.
So, when the Lord tells you to finally fall,
Remind us of His forgiveness, Oh Sol, Oh Sol.
A red sun, pooling like a drop of blood:
coagulates at the edge of darkness.
And ebony flows like a rising flood:
black as pitch, inking a seamless starkness.
A gilded moon, like a pitted gold coin,
beams in the sky as a beacon of light.
And twinkling like flashing fireflies, stars join
quasars and pulsars, lighting up the night.
Dawn frets like a nervous actor offstage,
while preparing to introduce the sun.
And as a gossamer breeze comes of age,
morning shimmers, like a web, freshly spun.
And Sol rises: as a golden balloon,
afloat in the air, like a songbird's tune.
This is a land of metronome duality.
We’re cowed by sun, then huddle in the dark.
Here shrubs and lizards eke, with bleak frugality,
a living that’s both passionless and stark.
But I’m from England. When parched cyclones rake
white dust in sterile spirals, I delight
in half-remembered rainclouds, and I ache
to bathe again in subtle, muted light.
She’s of this place. Her personality
is elemental, primitive, opaque.
At first, this strangeness, far from seeming trite,
is what caused fierce attraction to ignite.
But now I doubt her crude tonality
transcends the cold hypnosis of the snake.
Teened and tan,
Walking along gravel paths
with you holding my hand.
The sun so lovingly warm
Blessing our innocence.
The sound of Lake Como's
waves blessing the sand.
Your Hawaiian shirt open,
Your chest magnificently tan.
In a train caboose people
used as a resting place,
'twas inside.....
That you and I shared a hug
and our first summer kiss.
Tis but a shimmering memory,
but nonetheless, of complete
and utter happiness.
The glory of the flowers that
surrounded that caboose..
Adds to these musings and
these ever free thoughts so
eternally vivid~~in memory.

flower
of the solar throne
your far-away fire reigns immortal -
blossom wild beauty of chrysanthemum skies
hold me in the unfolding glory of your well-wishing petals
as Indian summer’s rays ravish and relax the chill
tender is the topaz passion
in the sunset of your satisfied season
and seductive is the ripened ember
in the harvest of your lingering light

to soul -
suffuse my surrender with pulsar persuasion
your ambient nectar
embolden me the honey of your citrine haze -
a fortune my ruby honeycomb to save and savor..
anemone ambrosia for my essence to sip
when the amber blush of November’s kindled kiss
turns ashen
on Winter’s cold grey lips

The sun is overjoyed
reaching its zenith
suspending in cloudless sapphire skies
in a scarlet lit horizon
its solar sheen is veiled,
beyond the handsome hacienda
hidden from ancient alibis
a time of musings I can’t resist
I paint a likeness of her,
wistful watercolor bursts
highlights by brushed strokes
gently caressing her skin, she wears
an unrestrained ear to ear grin
recherché, warmth rare
as a ruby red stone
a sonorous soprano’s tone
ravened tresses cascade unruly
copious tangled locks flow wild
within stirs the silver stars,
she perceives the wisdom in the callow
& indelible in the wise
youths’ oval ebony, &soulful eyes
a generous yet haunting sad smile,
transcending space &time
it rids me of my harden heart’s denial
on a quest of her own,
a love child grown
…&so has a
a mother’s love
the day awakes, beautiful morn,
the sun risen, a unique dawn
it's yellow rays, in earthly space
does cast on me, it's newest grace,
it reflects, shines, from east to west,
it's hands feel all, eyes see the rest,
what beauty seen by my two eyes?
that helps me more, to be alive.
always ignored and neglected-
by mindless men and those unfed.
yet it still shines, and all the more,
kindles the earth, at every dawn,
so beautifully, too beautifully!
daily miracle, so heavenly.
earth's source of life, celestial light,
the pauper's hope, the bourgeois' guide.
all things solaced, in it's mild rays,
thus waits the night, and crave for day.
beacon of hope! sweet light above!
what thing would be without your love?

In music, solfège (pronounced /'so?lf??/, also called solfeggio, sol-fa, or solfa) is a
pedagogical solmization technique for the teaching of sight-singing in which each note of
the score is sung to a special syllable, called a solfège syllable (or "sol-fa syllable").
The seven syllables normally used for this practice in English-speaking countries are: do,
re, mi, fa, sol, la, and ti (with a chromatic scale of ascending di, ri, fi, si, li and
descending te, le, se, me, ra).
