With a twinkling smile and a genial tone he said
(Joyfully frolicking across the kitchen…and pointing at the bed)
“I think some love’n is now in order…”
She just snorted… shrugged her shoulder
(in her admirable self-denial ...her freakish kink)
she stood silent, caught …and irritable at the sink
He said “damn it, you are like a costly cat…
you may be hot and golden but you are also getting fat”
She glinted with a scary calculated disturb
always an excellent engineer of the absurd
(One long red finger nail emits a staccato rap)
with it she gave a single tap
then...the crystal glass she did brazenly knock
In his eyes…his iris ...registered the shock
Orange juice and champagne splashed wet and generous all over
He said “Oh I see you want to do this sober!
Ha! This is how you appreciate?!
You are out of control…and I am irate!
and if you now think I want you one iota
You can think again …cause you are just a loada….”
(Silence teetered …on the edges of the shards of glass)
till she turned and said ...
“Seriously ...you’re such an ass!”
The end

I only drank one year, a while
I vastly prefer self-denial
Didn't like myself more
Back when dates *tried* to score
Now I've let them go, with a smile :)
Never got totally wasted
(Well, didn't like how it tasted)
Just pressured socially
So tried it, just to see
I confess feeling... disgrace-d
Drinks didn't bring out the Real Me
By NOT drinking I feel more... free! :)
A party-er --I'm not
I'd rather maintain Thought
A sober, clear mind is the key
Had to be socially distant
Even lost friends in an instant
When I chose to give up
Alcohol in my cup
Making my firm "No" consistent
I am sweet enough as it is
Without a dose of champagne's fizz
Ix-nay gentleman-tease
Don't gotta people-please
In order to please Him/ Be His
I am still a work in progress
Improving, I think, more or less
Haven't drank -- 20 years!
--Cuz it just interferes--
With the Faith, Hope, Love I profess
Do I miss drinking? -- not a bit
(Never enjoyed it, I admit)
For purity, I strive
Don't wanna drink and drive
Now to "have fun" I'd rather knit
Don't care if folks think I'm old school
For following the Temperance rule
Drinks brought joy-- not a lick
Only made my soul sick
Peer pressure is UN-COOL! :O
Un-hard lemonade is my fave
With fruit smoothies, too, I behave
Water keeps a good girl
With no desire to hurl
But-- the need to be brave
I found a group where I fit in
(Abstinence Association).*
"Heroic Offering"
is a good daily thing
Gives purpose while I avoid sin
Part of my true character traits
Is belief that True Joy awaits
Since I trust in Jesus
I know Heaven sees us
I'm inspired by the saints -- the greats
Can't say I'm perfect -- not at all!
And if you say I am -- I'd "lol!"
Character defects? Yes.
But NOT drinking in stress
Keeps my life's problems small

The christian way is no easy task
God's call is a call to fully endure
many obstacles have to be overcome
but victory's assured for God is sure
A true christian shows real godliness
having deep humility to put others first
denying one's self have no worldly want
only God fills one with spiritual thirst
This thirst clearly is heaven sent
producing eternal kingdom affection
to renounce the worlds pleasures
so give the Lord full attention
God sends his spirit in one's heart
producing His character to bless
living holy lifes to give Him glory
putting on our gifted godly dress
So live truly for God alone
display yourself to be holy true
brings pleasure to God our Lord
eternal always forever to do
Quote:
('If our common life is not a common course of humility, self denial, renunciation of the world, poverty of spirit and heavenly affection, we do not live the lives of christians.')
- William Law.- (1686-1761) 'A serious call to a devout and holy life.
September 9 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on Matthew 14-16
Key Verse – Matthew 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY BEST CHEERER
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my delight by Your might
Thank You for enabling me to obey You upon Your standards’ height…
Faithfully, I follow Your instructions of triumphant light
From my worldliness to stay in Your compassion so bright.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my blessing by Your provision
Thank You for illumining me to go on with Your bidding’s vision…
Fervently, I stretch my faith through Your persuasion
From my doubts to beseech Your touch toward my heavenly commission.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my sanctification by Your cleansing
Thank You for purging me against transgressions’ cursing…
Fearfully, I offer my heart to You with reverential praising
From my vanity to worship You around Your truth’s encompassing.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my understanding by Your prudence
Thank You for assuring me Your love for my heavenly residence…
Festively, I let You nourish my soul with Your mercy’s confidence
From my weakness to abide in Your power’s miraculous evidence.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my wholeness by Your completeness
Thank You for pulling me out against emptiness caused by pride’s foolishness…
Favourably, I submit to You in glorifying You with gratefulness
From my brokenness to have You work in my nothingness.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my wisdom by Your discernment
Thank You for teaching me toward victorious ministry involvement…
Freely, I obey You joyously with willing engagement
From my reasoning to learn in Your discipleship’s enrichment.
Lord God, You are my best Cheerer for my stewardship by Your leadership
Thank You for directing me along Your warm and sweet fellowship…
Fruitfully, I savour Your blessed gifts and grants around Your partnership
From my self-denial to profit in Your rewarding love-care propped relationship.

Jesus…
When you said,
“Take up your cross, and follow me?”
What did you mean, Jesus?
What did you mean?
That cross…that I have to bear…
It seems too heavy for me
I’m crushed under the load
Weighed down…
Suffocating….
Unable to breathe
Much less move
I can hardly carry myself around, Jesus
And now I must carry it as well?
What is that cross, Jesus?
Are you sure I can bear it?
Is it the cross of self-denial?
It is my crucified pride?
My unruly desires?
My self-indulgent will?
My selfish dreams?
Jesus, is it that love
That threatens to consume me
Is it that love
That cannot…that SHOULD not be mine
That you want me to crucify
On this cross
That you want me to bear?
Remember, Jesus
Remember, Lord…
Please, remember
That I am weak
I’m only human
Fragile
Frail
Doubtful
Afraid
Most of all unwilling...
Jesus...
I balk at the pain I must endure
But….I know
I KNOW….
You can help me carry this cross
For you carried a much bigger one
That had nailed on it
All my insecurities and pain
Right along with your bleeding hands
That covered those sins
And washed them in red and made them
Whiter…much whiter than snow
Jesus…help me bear it
This cross is too heavy for my frail shoulders
Please, hold me in your embrace
Secure me…
Cover me with your strong arms
Let your shoulders bear the weight
Once again….
As you carry this cross..
My cross
For me.

I fear the hounds - ever they chase;
I must keep my pace or risk their overtake.
I fear the hounds, their hurtling pursuit;
I must watch my path to avoid rock and root.
I fear the hounds - ever they follow;
My feet must not fail me if I’m to make it to the morrow.
I hear the hounds, frantic as they bay,
My life the spoils they scrabble to claim.
I hear the hounds, and I wish to just rest;
I’m so weary of fleeing and giving my best.
I hear the hounds, and the temptation is great;
I slow my pace, and my end I embrace.
I see the hounds, and my blood runs cold;
They snarl with triumph and sprint to take hold.
I see the hounds - love of pride, love of me,
The easy path, wide and sloping in gentle degrees.
I see the hounds, and myself I revile:
Am I truly that tired, or just lacking the will for self-denial?
I flee the hounds; I lengthen my stride -
I’ll give them no easy victory tonight.
I flee the hounds - oh, they howl in rage;
They were just within reach of snaring their prey.
I flee the hounds through the brambles I run,
With faith that I’ll rest with the return of the Son.
How does the hymner sing of God's measureless love through quadruplets-
Fine craftsman of fields, flowers, fountains of water, mountains, and sun-
Who practiced self-denial, till blood sweat, for the honor of thieves
apportioning second chances like sweet nectar while He came undone?
Why does the scribe pen his worship to the Universal Maker,
Compiling pages of effusive love notes for an unseen King?
Unobserved by open eyes but recognized by insightful hearts
Heeding courtship calls from Christ, Saviour sweet, at the threshold tapping.
Where does the artist conceive sweet lines, hues that tell wondrous tales-
delicate replicas of the Creator, thoughts color their veins-
as prismatic as rainbows post turbulence and wuthering days,
so silver linings laid on canvas sprinkle joy for hearts to sail?
When do dancers slip from guarded grace to ungirded ecstasy?
In the sweet echoes of a recent heartbeat or laughing babies,
bustling birdy melodies auguring spring's blessed revival?
I shall sharpen my grand jetés for Jesus' triumphant arrival.
the world is random actualities
and
logic shapes of mind are the realities
direction of time is a probability constant
called
the omega of predictable possibilities
it is first and last with respect change
because
gambling by guesswork is of wide range
with chances of failure like walking on ice
its why
someone is chosen for the supervision off-ice
its best that controller have dedication to task
so
the march across time is not pure chance and risk
for that leader to do nothing and not pass the buck
means
they are in irrational self-denial running purely on luck
it is a con used by a child to escape doing a task
or
used by a bankruptcy fall guy whose job is to be last
self-denial is blindness to one's own inexpertise
just
a hidden way an ego does plead 'don't choose me again please'
stan sand
Red blood was shed as their land was taken
Red graves lie unmarked behind shuttered schools
Treaties flouted through Parliament's rules
With redskins confined to reservation
Red songs unsung and red tongues forgotten
Tear off the scab of self denial
Beneath the skin all our blood is red
Together mourn unforgotten dead
Canada's past is now on trial
Time to reright the Indian File.
