Premium Member Nature Reflects God - the Sun

Early in the day o’er in Eastern sky
Dawn comes, then sunrise =
Morning comes over the horizon
Into a new day filled with surprise
Standing in the country garden
While the grass is moist with dew
Pink roses emit their sweet perfume,
I watch the heav’nly canvas rise anew
There are colors beyond imagination
Pinks, lavender, reds and streaks of gold
The Master Artist at work for our joy
Providing all our eyes can behold
There, too, is the sun – big, yellow, bright
Ever so gently rising over the hill
This sun God’s creation to reveal Himself
The earthly reminder of the spiritual Father
As the yellow light gradually moves across the sky
I think of how I am the one rotating
Not the sun going around and around
It is planet Earth moving; I’m meditating
A song of long ago told of the sun being “lucky”
“He has nothing to do but roll around heaven all day”
God’s creation always has something to do
The sun gives light for us to find our way
‘”Oh good Lawd above, don’t you know I’m pinin’
Tears all in my eyes
Send down that cloud with a silver linin’
Take me to paradise…”*
Like the poor man “pinin’”
We can become miserable as we surmise—
We can forget to look upward
Failing to see God’s guidance with our eyes
In Psalm nineteen verses one through six**
“The heavens declare the glory of God,
And the firmament shows His handiwork”
We learn speech and knowledge without sound
The sun as a strong man moves as in a race
Going forward from the end of heaven
With his circuit unto the ends of it
Nothing is hid from the heat” of the sun
Meditation time is over; I am ever thankful
For the blessing of the sun’s steady movement
And my balancing myself on revolving Earth—
God reveals and teaches with His firmament
Pinin’ times will come, miserable we will be
Our Father God is aware of our humanity;
His sun’s painted canvases always
Opens and close the day for you and me
Nature reflects God - He planned it that way
We are the caretakers every day

Baudelaire Translation: the Duel

Duellem (The Duel)
by Charles Baudelaire
loose translation by Michael R. Burch

Two combatants charged! Their fearsome swords
brightened the air with fiery sparks and blood.
Their clashing blades clinked odd serenades,
reminding us: youth's inspired by overloud love.
But now their blades lie broken, like our hearts!
Still, our savage teeth and talon-like fingernails
can do more damage than the deadliest sword
when lovers lash about with such natural flails.
In a deep ravine haunted by lynxes and panthers,
our heroes roll around in a cozy embrace,
leaving their blood to redden the colorless branches.
This abyss is pure hell; our friends occupy the place.
Come, let us roll likewise here, cruel Amazon,
let our hatred’s ardor NEVER be over and done!

Invitation to the Voyage
by Charles Baudelaire
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

My child, my sister,
Consider the rapture
Of living together!
To love at our leisure
Till the end of all pleasure,
Then in climes so alike you, to die!

The misty sunlight
Of these hazy skies
Charms my spirit:
So mysterious
Your treacherous eyes,
Shining through tears.

There, order and restraint redress
Opulence, voluptuousness.

Gleaming furniture
Burnished by the years
Would decorate our bedroom
Where the rarest flowers
Mingle their fragrances
With vague scents of amber.

The sumptuous ceilings,
The limpid mirrors,
The Oriental ornaments …
Everything would speak
To our secretive souls
In their own indigenous language.

There, order and restraint redress
Opulence, voluptuousness.

See, rocking on these channels:
The sleepy vessels
Whose vagabond dream
Is to satisfy
Your merest desire.

They come from the ends of the world:
These radiant suns
Illuminating fields,
Canals, the entire city,
In hyacinth and gold.
The world falls asleep
In their warming light.

There, order and restraint redress
Opulence, voluptuousness.

Premium Member What Little Fish Say

(sung to the tune of "The Sailor's Hornpipe")

Tell me what would happen if we were fishing here
and we would fall asleep in the middle of the pier?
Well, we might just roll around and no one there would wake us up
and we would fall into the water and the fish would say,

"Nibble nibble gulp, gobble gobble swallow bite,
it's a big one, Mom, it could take us all night.
Gotta chomp a little, chew a little, gobble gobble nibble nibble,
Daddy when you finish, pass the ketchup please."

Tell me what would happen if we were driving there
and we all took a ride on a little yellow fer-ry?
We'd park our car inside the boat and if the ferry didn't float,
we'd fall into the water and the fish would say,

"Nibble nibble gulp, gobble gobble swallow bite,
it's a big one, Mom, it could take us all night.
Gotta chomp a little, chew a little, gobble gobble nibble nibble,
Daddy when you finish, pass the ketchup please."

Tell me what would happen if we woke up at three
so we could be the first when we go to water ski?
Well, we all would be so groggy and our brains would be so foggy,
that we'd fall into the water and the fish would say,

"Nibble nibble gulp, gobble gobble swallow bite,
it's a big one, Mom, it could take us all night.
Gotta chomp a little, chew a little, gobble gobble nibble nibble,
Daddy when you finish, pass the ketchup please."

// author's note: these were lyrics I wrote for my kids to sing while we were traveling in the car/van sung to the familiar tune of the Sailor's Hornpipe (you can youtube it). It proved particularly useful for passing the time during long family vacation trips we took. In retrospect the lyrics seem a little on the dark side, but both kids have grown into perfectly normal adults, save for an inexplicable aversion to the ocean and ketchup ; ^) //

Charming Star

A new day has begun
When the sun shines lightining it up,
when the moon shades starts to fade off...
A new smell of hope surrounds,
A new feeling of comfort in the heart, is occupied,
with every morning start up..
And That is how I feel when I have you around...

My heart beats fast,
My stomach is filled with butterflies,
My eyes can not roll around,
They Just enjoy the scene of you infront,
On my mind, there are no thoughts...
Just because, every word you say
is being engraved inside...

As I look behind the window shades,
I see part of the outside world,
An incomplete image to say...
As I look further and further
I see more and more of what I expected
and what I never thought of before..

And this is how it is going with you..
Each and every day, I see something in you
that is totally new,
a new side that is totally innocent and pure..
a new Smile.. That makes my day...

As gorgeous as it could be...

It is true that you should smile

so that the world smiles back at you,

And I do smile, so as YOU smile back at me...my world.....

With you a new presepective of life is drawn

A new path is to dig,

A new world, that sounds to be so big..

But with you.. we shall face,

Any sadness or drops down,

To smiles and extreme heart felt happiness

we shall replace..

I can not describe how I feel

as you drove me to a wandering state

Heart confusion phase,

Mind Explosion Stage..

Just because you have owned my soul....

You are a charming star

who I wish will keep on lit in my life..

Who I wish will never fade off

after the rain,

who will never cause the pain...

Who will never be a dream

out of reach and aim....

And if it is so...
So let me sleep Forever...

Love Letter

My Dearest Ariel Flywheel,

When we first met I couldn't take my eyes off of you
I remember like yesterday flying around at the local zoo
you had delicately landed on someones leftovers french fries
while I dove in like a b bomber and took you by surprise,

At first you didn't like me telling me to buzz off
but I was so wings over heels attracted I kept flirting at all costs
you finally fell under my spell and invited me over to eat
I remember while I was eating feeling my fly heart skip a beat,

I could tell you had quite an appetite while you ate your fries
and to protect you I'd glance around for people with my five eyes
I know that while we dated we both had some pretty close calls
like the time we almost got squashed at the food court in the mall,

I no longer want to be a fly bachelor living all alone
that is why I hope you will accept my marriage proposal
we have so much in common loving the same kind of food
not only french fries but also dining on some animal's poop,

So lets make today special as hopefully we become engaged
and take a ride on the camels hump like we did on our first date
then we'll fly from picnic table to table for our french fries
I know if we stick together like fly paper our love will surely survive,

I love you so much and want you to have my little flies
caring for you during our short life span up until we die
we could both set up a fly house in the sheep's stall
and roll around in the hay every night and have ourselves a ball.

PS And remember I've only had eyes for you since we met at the zoo!

Love forever,
Marty McFly

Watermelon Memories

Watermelon Memories

When summer time comes around
Down memory lane is where I’m bound
Time to get some watermelon
Not the kind the stores are sellin’
But the kind that Grandpa grew
Pink and juicy through and through
We’d go down to Uncle Thurman’s farm
Where I fell under Thurman’s charm
That was down in Caroline
With big green melons on the vine
I’d sit down in his pickup’s bed
“Hold on tight, my uncle said”
I bumped and bounced down to his patch
“Don’t tell your mom or hell I’ll catch”
Down from the pickup I would jump
We’d give the melons all a thump
And when we found the perfect one
Back to the pickup truck I’d run
“Don’t let it roll around” he said
So I’d hug the melon in the bed
Back to Grandma’s house we’d go
The melon and I rocking to and fro
When we got back they’d all be waiting
With big old grins, anticipating
Daddy sliced it down the middle
Offering each of us a little
But as my uncle’s favorite niece
I’d hold out for the biggest piece
No need for salt, I just dug in
The juices dripping down my chin
I ate the flesh down to the rind
A not so dainty way to dine
The process was the same in old Kentuck
With my cousins Joe and Chuck
And it didn’t stop by any means
Even well into my teens
Seed spitting contests were the norm
Though I never mastered speed or form
I still recall the fun we had
With grandpa, grandma, mom and dad
They’ve passed away and yet I see
Them in each summer memory
Of watermelons on the vine
When I was their’s and they were mine

A Homeless Man's Christmas Wish

Christmas day is coming soon
I can hear the little drummer boys beat
As I sleep under a stack of newspapers
At my home here on the street
I have no shade from the summer heat
No shelter from a spring storm
When autumn and winter roll around
I have no blanket to keep me warm
I have no one to talk to
No doctor to keep me well
My life is like the seventh circle
Of an everlasting hell
I have no feast on Thanksgiving
On my birthday, I have no cake
Most nights as I sleep in my concrete bed
I pray and hope I won't wake
I think about the man I used to be
The one that died so long ago
Now all that's left is this scruffy, filthy creature
Who I don't even know
Now that Christmas is here again
I pray to the good Lord above
For a gift that most don't appreciate
Filled with lots of happiness and love
I'm not talking about material things
I can get by without any of that
All I want is a house and a family
Complete with a dog and a cat
I wish every single Christmas season
That my dear, sweet Lord would send me
A beautiful family with warm, smiling faces
Sipping hot chocolate around a Christmas tree
We would have a most amazing feast
A rack of lamb tied up with a bow
Then we would all get bundled up
And go caroling in the snow
Oh, how glorious that would be
To have a family and a few friends
To have people who love me
Even after this life ends
God please hear my prayers
And answer them if you can
Just grant one simple Christmas wish
To this old homeless man

Intoxication

Words
Flowing from your full sensuous lips
Cascading and spilling out
Over your chocolate flesh
As your voice reaches my ear
My body tenses up and then relaxes
Tingling with anxiety

I wish that I could do more
Than just hear your voice
But I love listening to you speak
In my ear, your words roll around and around
Sticking inside my head
Lingering in my soul
Your words satisfy my hunger
In a way I never knew words could
Hypnotic in their profession
They leak down into the pits of my soul
I get trapped up in them
And let them swallow me entirely

As they flow in their seductive melody
My mind can’t suppress the urges surging through my body
Your words inhibit me from being able to govern my own essence
Your words are dominate now
This temple has become yours
And I will submit whole heartedly to whatever your words may suggest

I just want to stay here
Engulfed in this flame
This blaze that results from the electric heat of your words
They’ve conquered me in their mystic sway
Leaving me perplexed and baffled, with a divine sensation trailing behind
I wish this bliss was eternal
But in the back of my mind I know
That this kind of feeling can only be temporary, and I hate it
I despise the inescapable fact that your voice will, one day, fade away
And dissipate into an excluded nothing
A hollow abyss
Leaving me with only the bittersweet memories
Of the enchantment of your voice
Only to reminisce over the intoxication of your words
