Si Vis Pacem

You see them loot on city streets,
attack people and leave them beat,
take what they want with no regard,
it’s ‘easier’ than working hard.
We see them take a human life,
with no regard for people’s rights,
defraud taxes, both poor and rich,
spend your hard work without a hitch.
Will the police protect you then?
if the politicians left them,
but if your view and thoughts are ‘wrong’
they help the thugs to get along.
Your life must be in your own hands,
a never-changing rule of man,
the wolf is always at the door,
if you want peace, prepare to war.

We’re so secure in modern times
that it seems bizarre to some minda
to think foreigners could invade,
some relic from a darker age,
to the point that they will decree,
“Let’s only use diplomacy,”
forgetting that the wretched lot
that usually rise to the top
crave what you have, and do not care
if war is what will get them there.
But why have these guys no struck yet?
an ever-present fear of death,
the fact that we will kill them back
is all that staves of their attack.
Reason can never convince them
to give up power’s addiction,
and when the sheep-dogs go away
then these wolves will come out to prey,
with no thought of the blood and strife,
they’ll take your land and rape your wife,
the wolf is always at the door,
if you want peace, prepare for war.

We can’t forgive the greatest threat,
the evil we’re forced to abet,
the specter we call government,
forever plays on sentiments,
divides and riles openly,
draws power from our liberties,
and even here, in a free state,
a tyrant lies in each, and waits…
Waits to seize what it never should,
while claiming it’s for your own good.
our founders knew just what they are,
tried to stop them going too far,
to this day they chafe at restraint,
make it a reason for complaint,
but their intentions are well known:
they see themselves upon a throne.
From senator to bureaucrat,
we’d do well to remember that
the wolf is always at the door,
if you want peace, prepare for war.

Across the Counter Divide

They don’t care about you and me
They don’t feel the need to offer courtesy
They upset everybody

Our interaction with bureaucracy of any kind
Is often a stumbling block
In having our needs fulfilled

Nothing riles us as bad service
We expect to be pleased
Our every whim acknowledged and catered for
We must have it just the way we like it
No other way will do

Good service exists
But it is best for us to remember
The instances that have caused us much headache
We love to heap distaste in spades

Lack of efficiency sounds the death knell
Of being customer friendly
The drone that serves seems not to care
He has great power
Which he can often yield quite ferociously
Knocking us aback with its chill
And its stupidity

Procedures are forced on the client
Who contorts to meet the needs
Of the god inherent in the system
That demands conformity;
No individuals here please

The fake smile
Matched by the impatience
Of the box ticking mentality
Gnaws at the resolve of those who are wronged
When the computer says no

An opaque system
Of rules and complex algorithms
Of no customer value
Backs up the grab but do not give
Value systems of the drone across the counter
And his masters that pull his strings

He who thinks he is
Underpaid and
Undervalued
Treats us with contempt
And barely concealed disdain;
All we did was refuse to play
His silly game

His outrage at our apparent lack of
But only to him
Fair play
Riles us
Raising the bile of frustration
That a genuine smile would do much
To dissipate

Service as received varies
We bring our own ideas of the rules
That never matches the rules as they stand
We often create our own frustration
Through our ignorance

The Pre-conceived ideas of both parties
Often leads to vexatious interactions
Everyone blames the other party
But everyone admits things
Are going quite badly

Venal Glands

Venal Glands
The Troll thinks he’s something smart and cool and all that
Having a go at the soccer player who is a talented one
The Troll states the player can’t score a goal at 5 yards
This riles the player as it’s meant to do for he fell for it
On and on the Troll comments a dozen insults slurs words
Each targeted like a deadly laser against the player
He’s been moaned in the press but that’s fine

And criticized by rival teams and players
But the Troll is different for he really means it
It’s almost like he wants to slowly destroy the player
If the player quit soccer or committed suicide right now
That wouldn’t be enough oh no!

The Troll wants to slowly kill ruin debilitate ridicule him
And it seems he’s winning and crushing the player
Each email comment bad review fake photo hits home
The player starts to think and wonder at things

Maybe he isn’t the best player and Number 1 is lonely
How should he deal with the Troll and his evil smart anger?
He has a dream about dying but it’s slow and is real
For its happening right now to him and he never wakes up
For a second dream comes back to back and this is it!

Go underground not in your grave like will happen
Search out Underworld gangsters the real deal
They will know what to do how when the way
They already know why for you’re in the news
The question is answered on do you don’t you?

You dress like a tramp and go to the bad town
In an hour words are said cash paid a contract placed
Soon the Troll will be no more and you’ll be free
For now dear soccer player…

That Inerrant Scape

The inerrancy of the bible enrages me,
Boils my blood, riles me and angers,
Makes the interpretation prerogative limp,
Nullifies that interpretation bud passed onwards,
From every author who’s not embarrassed.

You read knowing the art of literature,
Is in its reader’s agreed distance from the writer,
Knowing your book’s rationally contrived,
Aware of your right to read it your own way,
Understanding the possible word play.

The bible is not authored in any way whatsoever,
Has many different historical authors, contributors,
’Twas compiled by the Nicean committee,
Maybe, by a group of intellectuals deep,
So that Jesus and an insight we could keep.

Computer Science confronts with dares,
Regarding your view of the written word,
Makes fundamentalists intrepid and silent,
About their author god who cheers and assists,
Even when reading the text, when reason so persists.

Computers let you delete certainties, things,
Change and edit completed documents,
Tell you that you’re human and creative,
Welcome your attempts, errors and mistakes,
And give fundamentalists the quiet quakes.

All inerrancy will do is frighten you and scare,
Vanquish your reason with its complementation,
Evade form for an augmented version of it,
Which will emerge as a differently defined structure,
Worth neither solidification nor the puncture.

There are no wrong actions with my computer,
No thought or situation that can’t be expressed,
No colour unavailable on the rainbow palate,
No code not writable, not fixable or reworkable,
No desire inconceivable, that’s not addressable.

Premium Member Ignorance, Shoddy Goods and Poor Service

Never accept shoddy goods or poor service, you have consumer rights, if they don't address your concerns, contact their chairman.
Quote by poet

When I was growing up my dear mother often said to me
Always speak when spoken to and be courteous as can be
So, it riles me when folks are ignorant and couldn't give a dime
But I give them benefit of the doubt and say it a second time.

Faulty goods suck too when you take them back to the store
They make out that it's been misused and show you the door
But you have consumer rights and are entitled to your money back
Make sure you're assertive and calm but never go on the attack.

There's no excuse for poor service either or they choose to ignore you
But their attitude changes completely when you threaten to sue
First, they'll fob you off and try to provide an excuse that is lame
But stand your ground firmly and play them at their own game.

I once heard a quote 'there's no friendship in business' ; that is so true
Companies often forget it's you paying them, it's not them paying you
Loyal customers should be rewarded and treated with respect
So, look around and go elsewhere if they show you any disrespect.

Thankfully, those kinds of sad ignorant people are in a minority
And most people will go the extra mile, so you're left feeling happy
So, If you've been fobbed off with poor service or dealt a poor hand
Use X, Facebook or TikTok to warn others and make a firm stand.

Hope is a Bird Wordless that Sings

I watch first rains on dusty countryside,
And know, no pathways etched are by despair,
And yet, hope comes like first showers to guide,
Give ample hints on how to go and where.
And a way out appears from nowhere,
With hope in heart walked hast man longer miles
On dead stretches, pathless alone that veer,
In darkling woods as in deserted isles.

Like migrating birds that on wide wings ride,
Hope seems to come on one’s own latent dare,
And sings eternal spring songs, fear decried,
Worry's no fond word, nor is fall unfair,
In hope man casts his net, wishes to snare,
To men of hope a begging bowl beguiles,
Busy that catch oyster pearls with hands bare,
Let darkling woods dare in deserted isles.

Yet, those that in great fear for time would bide,
Tying limbs and minds in ropes in mundane care,
Whence, wonder I, would hope come with fair pride,
How would fount hope in despair, all so rare?
It's hope, life survives from its wear and tear,
Hope, to walk free from edge of knife, time’s wiles,
And hope ‘tis that makes life easy to bear,
When darkling woods dare and life itself riles.

                                  Envoi

So, let raindrops on dust never despair,
The first rainfall in hope hast carved out isles
In its diligent due concern and care,
That darkling woods dare, nor life ever riles.

A Few Things That Please Me Now

Instead of walking briskly, I often shuffle:
Watching TV I’ll cough, sniffle and snuffle:
This riles my wife and creates a kerfuffle,
Then flipping channels - her feathers I ruffle!
Such are the things that please me now!

Will nap in the chair, till dinner is late:
Or eat peas from my knife: to aggravate.
After jay walking, the motorist I berate!
Will say what I think; tell others straight
What’s on my mind, which makes some irate!
But they’re the things that please me now!

I lecture my children - it’s something they hate:
Bore them with old tales I repeatedly relate,
It drives them to tears, so they often state,
Or makes them angry! I love to infuriate!
It’s more of what pleases me now!

Slurp my coffee and saucer my tea ;
Dunk my biscuits when in company;
Will openly burp and quite often loudly,
Which makes others blush by acting badly,
Just doing a few things that please me now!

When my wife calls: I’m not to be found,
Should she call louder? I hear nary a sound!
Offer unwanted opinions that shock and astound,
Argue for hours, stubbornly standing my ground,
Sure these are things what please me now!

But when day is done: I head off to bed,
Though never admit to things I’ve done or said
As tomorrow might be too late - I could be dead,
Will mumble I’m sorry for the dance she’s been led,
That’s the time for what best pleases me now!

Hold Onto Your Anger

no amount of positive change in the world
which has advanced the betterment of us
as a species,
has come about by staring into the face of
idiocy, malicious intent, straight out murder,
slavery, oppression & genocide &
then trying to win it over with
concessions &
compassion---
it is discontent & rage
that have come about as a direct result of the forces in this world
which think that they can do to you what they want
when they want---
without it, there would be no
progress.

anger riles the individual
the individual gains strength
the strong individual speaks to another &
two become four,
four become eight---
sooner than later,
anger & anger alone
has brought together a mass of people
who understand that what has been going on
can no longer be so---

SOMETHING
HAS TO CHANGE

anger produces power in the “powerless”
by allowing them the courage to say that there is nothing to lose
when it comes to striving for
rights denied to you---

hold onto your anger
clench it in your fist & never let it go
for what you have inside you is
just---
what you have inside you is a need to utilize every part of your
being &
if your anger is all you have at your disposal
(that which cannot be tainted by those outside you),
then it is more beautiful than anything &
it is yours & yours alone---
it is representative of your own voice,
your own life &
your own ability to resist the destruction of your
will.

World War, Overdue

No prophesy, epiphany or convoluted scheme
Forecast it’s not. For sure, no joke. And isn’t a pipe dream
But something tells me, instinct chimes, we are so overdue
For global war, as tensions build, for there are many clue

With Pakistan and India, it’s not a soccer match
Red China has a grabby hand, conducts another snatch
U.S. of A. is causing pain, with strain all the way
Against Ukraine – the NK troops, in serious gun play

The good ole Europe has no clue - to sh*t or wind the watch
And Yemen’s Houthis, aiming hate to go up extra notch
Iran and Russia sign pact, strategic, kid you not
We drop assistance to Ukraine, it’s nothing but a rot

In Tehran, they're building bomb, with scary letter “N”
Against Hamas and Hezbollah - combat, no exit plan
Islam, it riles every land, to dominate - and will
Plus Moscow drones attack Ukraine, to have civilians killed

That last world war, forgotten much, is eighty years old
And pressure builds, tectonic plates, are barely on hold
One stupid move or power play – that’s all it’s going to take
Then “Mother War”, an ugly name, uncoils like a snake

I should be wrong, I must stay hushed, I want to live in peace
Yet waves of anguish, they’re spread by White House mouthpiece
What do I know, a little ant, antennas sensing breeze
But if you hear, powers be, don’t start a new war, please!

From one film to the other, your creative styles,
Rebels joined, save a world, then you, sacrificed a girl,
Online programmers that you had caused their riles,
Mr. Santino wanted New York as part of his world,

New bodies agents inhabit, mafia's list, you've been added,
Earned right to learn 'new school', while brother played you for a fool,
Oracle knew that you're the one, as bodies piled while on the run,

Trinity loved you, that you knew, with a price on your head, all wanted you,
Only machines rule off humans' body heat, get Santino, so to be complete,

Just when things weren't cooling down, Cassian searched all over town,
Of the agents, leader wanted to get ahead, on the train, he wanted John dead,
His team want to rescue their own, Cassian he warned, or he wont be around,
Neo wanted to go alone, instead, but Winston told John, "Not here", he said,

World saw the light, Neo did the trick, John didn't have it, he must split quick,
In rousing dance, chants, people are one, eyes o'er shoulders, he's on the run,
Can Neo have a new machines flick, more dinner reservations, 3rd John Wick,
Keanu's versatile--better to none, persona and lifestyle, simply being #1.
