A special time
When the sun shone bright
In clear winter light
Robin Redbreasts
Darted back and forth
Singing gaily
The splash of red
Upon the snow
As they were being fed
In a magical world
Belonging to you and me
Christmas , came
In our hearts
The joy of giving
Beneath the tree
In a castle
To the right of the Winding Stair
A great tree grew
A mighty fir
In soft winter light
The candles lit
Upon a tree
Faerie light
Golden feathers from Heartstone Eagles
Were put on the tree
Ribbons and lace from the Queens
Glowing berries from the Kings
A living tree
Filled with colour
Decorated with love
For you
For me
In a magical world
Under a tree
Christmas came
In soft winter light
Kings and Queens
Gave generously
Gifts of love
Colour
Of tranquillity
Passed on through
A kiss
A touch
Under a tree
Faeries flew
Trees, whispered
A castle, lit
The love felt, too
A single touch
Passing
You give your self
To everyone
They share all of you
As they share too
Forever lasting
This is a Heartstone Christmas
For what is given
Is love
Colour
Tranquillity
Under a tree
There is no greater gift
Then giving all of you
The light inside glowed
You wanted this,
and it showed
I want to share
A Heartstone Christmas
With you
Hold your hand
See the Northern Lights
Faeries too
For a Christmas at Heartstone
Is a time for love
A time to be free
Where the heart knows
Of everything
For it shows
In you
A special time
When the sun shone bright

Robin Redbreasts

In you
As the geese flew north
The honking cries
Could be heard
In clear Autumn skies
Winter came
Blustery snow fell
During the night
Robin redbreasts and Castle Sparrows
Could be heard
At first light
The King of Air
Fed all the birds at the Castle
During the day,
He took food
Down to the forest
Beautiful as winter can be
Food was spare
The King made sure
No bird, would go hungry
Castle Sparrows
Fluttered here and there
Earning their keep,
by picking up all sorts of things
The Castle was tidy,
as wished by the King of Air
Robins, strutted around
Puffing out their red feathers
Amusing all who took walks
In the castle grounds
Winter began to thaw
The birds of spring
Called out joyously
Birds could be seen
Everywhere
Amongst the fresh green
Birds of every colour
Took to the air
Flew amongst the Whispering Trees
You could hear birds singing
Everywhere
Heartstone Eagles
Circled high
Above a castle
Traversing the mountain
Daily patrols
Watching all of the sky
Sunbeams delight me with their touch,
a talent that Spring breezes share.
At first, it does not feel like much,
though, an answer to my prayer.
And still, Spring is beyond compare,
luring honking geese to take wing
and fly home on breaths of warm air;
for it's the beginning of Spring.
Frisky rabbits breed in their hutch;
while parking lots host a Spring fair.
An extravaganza as such
that lends excitement to the air;
improvising color and flare.
Robin Redbreasts are first to sing
and build their nests as couples pair,
for it's the beginning of Spring.
Kids start skipping rope, double-Dutch,
for there is no snow anywhere.
Nesting birds start brooding their clutch,
as wildflowers bloom everywhere.
And an earthy smell scents the air
with aromas warm breezes bring.
Flurries are sporadic and rare,
for it's the beginning of Spring.
Folks start donning leisurewear,
Spring season has a unique zing.
And I feel passion's flame flare,
for it's the beginning of Spring.
O PROUD SONGSTERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Late winter, early spring,
perky cock robin redbreasts start to sing,
cock blackbirds follow suite,
jenny wrens don't stay mute.
Nature's choirs all astute.
Songsters, all ready for a springtime fling!
Summertime at its hight,
though through the year they sing with all their might.
Evening song, church bells call,
a merry Christmas all,
be you walk fly or crawl.
Human songsters singing for all's delight!
Autumn now, fresh breezes,
a little hint of cold winter freezes.
The wind song quizzical,
often quite physical!
Trees song so mystical,
their singing likened to snare drums teases.
Winter, bright if lucky.
Thanksgiving, Christmas, turkey, roast ducky!
Choirs singing carols,
barmen rolling barrels,
mums washing fresh sorrels.
Me, a songster, yes but very duffy!
Winter wrinkles while showing signs of age:
but under banks of snow, it's tough to gauge.
Although Spring showers are mostly sprinkles,
while showing signs of age, Winter wrinkles.
Robin Redbreasts arrive just before Spring,
anticipating the warmth that She'll bring.
And spreading the word that Nature's alive:
just before Spring, Robin Redbreasts arrive.
Trilliums sprout in the forest cutbacks,
while the river ice buckles, forming packs.
And when Winter wrinkles, looking worn out:
in the forest cutbacks, trilliums sprout.
No longer white, Winter's a sullied grey,
Her crystalline beauty melted away.
And now, under the sun's extended light,
Winter's a sullied grey, no longer white.
Waiting in the wings, there's a feisty Spring
with daffodils pulling at Her heartstrings.
As dripping icicles give up their bling,
there's a feisty Spring waiting in the wings.
Snowy fields are disappearing fast,
Patches of green are starting to last.
Robin redbreasts are the first to nest,
Indicating we'll soon see the rest.
Northern winds morph into warm breezes,
Gently ensuring life unfreezes.
Ice starts to thin in the streams and lakes,
Shuttering and groaning as it breaks.
Cold nights warm as longer days begin,
Offering spring a chance to creep in.
Migrating geese head home, as they fly
In numbers so great, they fill the sky.
Noisy honks seem to propel them forth,
Growing louder as they head back north.
Smelts and trout swim up rivers and creeks,
Only spawning for a few short weeks.
Odors take on a sweet earthy smell,
Now, wafting from where daffodils dwell.
Snowdrops tend to sprout early in the Spring,
while Tulips pop up later in the Spring.
And deciduous trees don beards of green,
when trillions of buds unfurl in the Spring.
Sweet sap starts rising in sugar maples,
flowing from taps, drip by drip, in the Spring.
Migrating geese announce their homecoming;
with honks blaring from the skies in the Spring.
And as the songbirds start returning north,
dandelions pave their route in the Spring.
The Japanese cherry blossoms bloom pink,
and creeks fill with smelts spawning in the Spring.
While the Robin Redbreasts start building nests,
bears emerge looking less stout in the Spring.
Butterflies and bees arrive on the scene;
while the children laugh and shout in the Spring.
A palette of sounds, smells, and colors;
Spring fills the canvas of my mind
with Her stoic beauty.
And once more, Her fabulous frescos,
fuel my passion for impressionism:
when She dapples Winter's wet stucco
with vibrant splashes of color.
And my heart is stimulated
by Her earthy sweet-scented breath.
Nothing feels as refreshing
as a Spring shower;
the feel of renewal
is encapsulated within each drop.
Robin-Redbreasts and daffodils;
early harbingers of Spring,
magically, change the landscape.
Flowers bloom in copious colors;
and songbirds add a vibrant pulse
to the heart of Spring!
I cherish Spring's sweet smile;
for smiles are made of hope:
and hope is the promise of Spring.
