Winter wrinkles, showing the signs of age,
but under all that snow, it's tough to gauge.
Although Spring showers are mostly sprinkles,
showing the signs of age, Winter wrinkles.
Robin Red-Breasts arrive ahead of Spring
to celebrate the warmth that She will bring.
And spreading the word that Nature's alive;
ahead of Spring, Robin Red-Breasts arrive.
Trilliums sprout within forest cutbacks
as the river ice buckles, forming packs.
And as Winter wrinkles, looking worn out;
within forest cutbacks, trilliums sprout.
No longer white, Winter's a shade of grey,
Her crystalline beauty fading away.
And now, under the sun's extended light,
Winter's a shade of grey, no longer white.
Waiting in the wings, there's a feisty Spring
with snowdrop flowers pulling Her heartstrings.
As melting icicles give up their bling
waiting in the wings, there's a feisty Spring.
