A fine Chinese porcelain pot for instance,
with all of its art and nature painted upon it;
herons in flight,
storks stalking,
ibis reciting the ‘I Ching’ to other ibis,
dancing dragons,
lotus, golden carp
and chrysanthemums
floating through silky, everlasting clouds –
a thing that can be
spoken of,
read by scholars,
translated
into a hundred languages,
a fine oriental testament to
imagery
and pictographic symbolism,
yet
if all you have is an opaque
hollowed out wooden bowl
fit only to be filled
and fed to the plain-spoken,
even so
it just might be enough -
when
one perfect morning
you place such a roughhewn vessel
by a window
in a circle of translucent sunlight
allowing a newborn sun
to play over
that ordinary utensil
then
it may fill up to the very brim
with a living luminescence,
a see-through language
of its own
that will spill over
with sudden translatable
intimations
of
herons in flight or fishing
into their own deep
stillness.
Storks stalking and hovering,
ibis teaching the ‘I Ching’ to other ibis,
Mandrakes in a line following.
Dragons snaking and dancing,
through the swirl of unknowable heavens.
Lotus meditating - opening,
golden carp and chrysanthemums
afloat or swimming
through the silky blush
of everlasting clouds.
the night i realized i could never fall in love again
i saw a white bird at 3:13 AM
contoured,
unobscured by the darkness,
gliding above the black SUV
where i smuggled my rotting flesh,
harbored beyond the shore of throbbing bodies,
bathed in blue light
in a country where i could never be understood
the night i realized i could never fall in love again
i saw a white bird at 10:15 PM,
unconfined, its primary covert
donning the grey spell of clouds
where it found its refuge,
drifting through my weary eyes
are you tired of me yet?
your porcelain hands fractured beneath my stubborn grip,
your fragments surrendered to the current,
destined to wash upon someone else's coast
i gave myself to you
until nothing remained
your life became unwillingly tangled in mine,
and though my miserly delusions
spoiled long ago,
their memories still root themselves like thorns,
piercing my skull
i cannot stop the bleeding
i wish i could apologize,
for you do not deserve to remain imprisoned
inside the amber haze
i selfishly refuse to bury
although i released you several years ago,
i still slit my wrists daily,
just to let the blood leech
my bitter, dried-up heart
i wish you knew
i do not know another way to exist
no poem,
no human,
no touch
can return spilled blood to my veins
on one of the many nights
my heart was drained of its warmth,
i dreamt i gave birth to a baby girl
painfully, miserably,
i folded inward,
with no one
inside my blurred horizon
i only cry openly in my sleep,
because it is the only place
where i see things as they are
without the diluted disguise of hope,
without the beguiled assurances
of my narrowing reality
i remember i can never fall in love again
every moment i fail to love myself enough
to entrust this emaciated body
to another soul
the day i knew it was time to carve this godforsaken life into stone,
i saw no white bird at no particular time
i sat motionless
on a train that would not stop
for my strangled sobs,
for a stalled existence as pathetic as mine
so, with tears i could not suppress
retracing the map of my bloodshot face,
i engraved
what i had known
since the day you left:
my own death sentence.
A heart crafted of porcelain-
now cracked all the way through.
What once was smooth and flawless-
is no longer bright and new.
Edges made to cut with-
curves and crevices unsmoothed.
This is what I have become-
and it's all because of you.
Constellations in my eyes-
but they'll turn into tearfall.
They'll trace my cheeks down to my neck-
then freeze and turn to snowfall.
That fire in my chest -
which once did burn so endless...
it struggles to make light now-
all because you are repentless.
See, you were never sorry-
you hurt me... left me for dead.
I could beg you more to listen-
but now I'll hold my breath instead.
For I've bellowed my lungs out-
trying to get you to care.
But now I know, despite my pleads-
that you'll never be there.
Present when you need me-
but when I need you, you are gone.
For once your needs are met-
you're oh so quick to break our bond
You took a thing of beauty-
and you stole it for your own.
You used it till you broke it -
and deemed it "better off alone".
You've got all you could get from me-
then cast away remains.
You claim you are so grateful-
So why oh, why throw me away away?
You snatch me up, but one more time-
when you see my fire relight.
But now this flame's for ME-
you can no longer take what's mine.
You said:
You look like you've been hurt before,
Drowned before you could reach the shore.
I replied:
My father was my first heartbreak,
My uncle was my second,
I was neglected and never reckoned,
If you'd ask me how I am I'd say I'm fine,
I can love you even after knowing that you'll never be mine.
Loneliness lurking in crowd,
Voices in my head, so loud,
Rivers in my eroding eyes,
To my heart, nothing satisfies.
I'm rotting and wearing a mask full of smiles,
I don't know what in the future for me lies,
I am so scared of life,
I can't even imagine being
Somebody's lover or wife,
Everything seems unreal I'm seeing,
who am I? Who am I being?
I'm getting tired of it all,
Always breaking like a porcelain doll.
Hold me tight,
Before I shatter at your feet,
Don't let me out of your sight,
As long as you hear my heart's beat.
Hear me, hold me tight ,
Because I'm so scared of the night.
Console me, oh, please,
So that I might be at ease,
I'm wearing pearls of peace,
And take me to Greece,
Before my breathings cease.
I'm complicated and crazy,
My thinking, breezy and hazy,
Understand me, can you?
Don't leave me without a clue,
I'm a starry night, mazy and forlorn,
I don't even know why I was born.
I'm an abandoned bleeding sea, without a heart,
Pathetic palpable ardent art,
Who talks to the moon,
A glass shard and longing loon.
Save me from me, I , mine,
Words won't come out,
My drenched teary eyes whine,
Can't you hear the slurry shout?
So, hold me,
Don't break the promises,
You told me.
Pretty daffodils make the teacher happy
Children pick them for her from the golden hills
Miss Daisy is behind bars now for touching children
Where they should not be touched according to the rules
Inappropriately as stated in police reports at school
More than their minds were altered
Bathroom floors are made of porcelain
Cold to the feel and dangerous they say
Not a proper place for educating babies
Obscenity is against the law in certain places
Schools are learning institutions for the good
Flowers do not save the day for Miss Daisy
Questionable behavior makes headline news
In the community people talk of things to do
Apples were not her thing it seems
Butterflies and daffodils are soft to the touch
They fill her with delight when naked
Furthering her scholastic education to do right
you …
lay among the
sheets, as still as death itself
tho' your bosom rises-and-falls with
gentle breaths …
what do you dream, my darling?
oh surely of fancies that
shame this trembling night …
moonlight thru louvers paints you -
slices your form into porcelain
shards of luster …
I wonder, are the dark portions mine?
have you and your god avowed a
share to my madness?
or are they the stripes of your lord
given in redress to haunt me?
your eyelids quiver, dreams rolling
them forth-and-back -
please let those meanderings be of us,
when we were happy ...
do you remember?
oh, such love we shared those ages ago
far removed from the realities of
a full moon and the fiery curse that
sears my veins and marrow …
how I long to press my lips to your
eyes in waking, as then …
but that is too close - yes, far too close …
pray, what have I become, my love
that I long for blood over being?
if only you knew the monster, here -
the beast born of flesh
that considers you now in slumber -
tossing a mental coin for your love ...
or life …
please - please awaken now, my darling
drive a stake of passion through my aged heart -
hasten, lest the hungers take me over
and you perish for the sake of
this delirium ...
of the moon ...
and me.

In China people walk upside down without a ground
If the world is flat, not saying that it is, that's just a rumor
Gravity becomes a little tricky
People must hang around down there for a living
It must be one big ceiling down below
Or inhabitants fall off the planet frequently
That makes life simpler
Green tea is purple on the other side
We are told there is no other side sometimes
No one said flat Earth is perfect
It is a two sided coin or plate according to the logic
Otherwise it would be silly or a mystery
Even against the law...That would be wrong
Only the wackadoodle news boys know for certain
They are always on the top of things here on the surface
Physics works well in some conditions
If the world is flat, not saying that it is but it is tradition
Gravity becomes a little tricky, a little fishy
A planet looking like a porcelain dish
Swimming in the cosmic distance without mistake
Made in China printed on the bottom of the plate
So it's official. It is a funny place.
It's a nightmare down on Elm Street. Satan's waiting here at home.
Where's that little Freddy Krueger with his nails of sharpened chrome?
And that dearest Michael Myers, as he's always sure to call?
Halloween won't be so keen without some slashers in the hall.
They're all meeting up with Jason and the other demon spawn
to pay Old Scratch a visit, so I'll leave the porch light on.
I'm your sugar devil daddy and I'll tempt you if I can,
so now open up those goody bags, cause I'm your candy man.
Welcome, all you little zombies. Here, I've got some flesh for you!
It's in a candy wrapper and so much easier to chew.
Just hold out your plastic treat bag, and hold off eating me.
The junk I'm gonna give you tastes much better than my knee.
It's so loaded up with sugar, you'll be bouncing off the walls.
So go ahead and gorge yourselves and fill the bathroom stalls.
Kneel before the porcelain god or use the toilet sink.
You can always use the practice now, for later when you drink.
You can't take a piece of healthy fruit or any home-made treat.
The media have made damn sure it's only junk food that you'll eat.
So celebrate my holiday and consume till it's obscene.
Welcome into my domain... and Happy Halloween!

Offspring between close family members
not biologically fit nor ablest
even if direct immediate relations
consider themselves best
buddies, emotionally intimate, and offload
heavy matters weighing down
on their respective figurative chest,
cuz lurking within brethren and cistern genes,
and/or chromosomes dwell deadliest
nastiest, and weakest link undermining
searingly robust reproductive human stock,
thru molecular hijacking gungho extremest
right wing trumpeting malefactor breeding
distilling, fomenting, et cetera the faintest
self destructive invisible agents provocateurs
dredging existentially faultiest
predispositions, and vulnerabilities
compromising in utero body electric,
asper offspring saddled with funniest
itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow Polka dot bikini
donned flesh impossible to remove,
which surgery could imperil and render feeblest
unto Caesar, an ides of march, sans flimsiest
excuse for a successor
to the royal porcelain throne,
which progeny could exhibit the frailest
constitution, and possibly appear as freakiest
looking hominid this side of Schwenksville
with napped hair most frizziest
affixed to a beanpole gangliest
androgynous cisgender metasexual
being description also including geekiest,
not to mention ghastliest
simple minded looking gruesomest
human being, who presents grimmest
prospects quite dim tubby happiest
bellowing soul since...incest
came back in vogue when polar vortex
ushered necessity to bed with kindliest
people professing unconditional love.
Lemon tinted phase
gilded skyline blown
by ethereal fused mist
eager bard imbued
opal dream flotilla
beyond tarnish while
flash point chariots
of gleam-well canvass
astir or astern perforce
taunt a hued vase
porcelain image fest
for staunch earthbound
soul’s cry parched
stricken migrant famish
sapphire plume ray
bounty veridical
pink chalk sketch
granule blush pots
pearl beam spur
to jumpy pilgrim
grey elephant garb
drifter’s lull prone
metre of skewed
and barren glib
dull tossed aside
rambles and brambles
from cerebral quartz
beige quirky quill
nose twitch petrichor
glacé smelt rain
lava veined fillip
fervent fetal floe
ignited indigo inkling
as noonday nuanced
glance en dash
away from orange
peel cloud skies
toward spring rush
urban junction fare
as founding cue
for zeitgeist driven
western world eden
brick red hydrants
fricative wet spray
dousing hoarse busker
charged by crazy
pavement stamp
stoic poet in situ
tumult, hubbub,
rumpus heightened
by brazen banter
silver coin wobble
on carrageen rim
of oyster pebbled
pool a mecca
for stanza stymied
lingerer who scouts
eclectic threshold
born of cumbersome
blight on ingenuity
