Sober

I haven't been sober in so many years
In ways it's a high all it's own
I've spent so much time
Obliterating my own conscience
For reasons that seemed so good at the time
One more drink, one more smoke, one more line
And all would be right in my mind
Or at least thats what I believed
But as I waited patiently
For my life to fall together
I seemed to miss
The fact that it was falling apart
I was standing in a burning building
With a handful of matches
And a gallon of kerosene
Wondering why my world was on fire
Unable to admit to anyone
First and formost myself
That the things I thought I needed
Were surely to be my demise
There were moments of pure joy sometimes
When I was high for all the right reasons
And learned enough for me to still believe
They were brain cells honorably sacrificed
For the sake of my expanded consciousness
But those moments became fewer and fewer
Unitil I was no longer learning or living
I was dying
Killing moments off bit by bit
In an effort to get away from myself
But in trying to escape my own past
I was getting in my own way
Drowning in an inertia I could no longer control
Numb to the warning
Numb to anything one could call life
But I don't have that option anymore
To freeze out my own instincts
The block of my heart
The choice to clean up was made for me
And took me quite by surprise
And I suppose I'll adjust in time
Though I'll admit it's been a war
And as I slowly grow accustomed to the thaw
To feeling something, anything, stone sober
I understand better why I made the choices I did
How scary life can be
Without your filters, your crutches
But I also know that the moments I have now
Are all the more precious
Because I have earned each emotion
And felt them through and through
I have lived
I have survived
And I will be ok
me

Paint Me the Future

Paint me the future,
Of a life without fear,
where my life has meaning as old age draws near.
Paint me the future,
With a different story and plot,
As I visualize my life with a clear snapshot.
Paint me the future,
Without a bloody end,
Where everyone I come across is but a friend.
Paint me the truth,
From the lips and hearts of all children,
That I may carry out the message with honesty and wisdom.

Coz by all means my life in all honesty,
Is full of challenges which I have embraced with modesty,
Sincerity comes at a cost of betrayal,
But I still refrain from profanity and keep myself loyal.
Yeah, ultimately we all want a piece of the good life
But in our quest to find it, what will be the price?
Reason will be defied just so we can feel alive,
As we sacrifice what we hold dear so we can survive,
The path before me is misty, yet I’m still trying to see some other life
Some, other life… displayed on a canvass is a portrait of my wife,
Pleasurable sketches, to the eyes it’s such a compliment,
Paintings depicting a life of beseeming ornaments,
Vivified by its colourful state,
Attraction to the drawing increases at an alarming rate,
As I glare at the masterpiece of my very own creation
The picture begins to fade like sanity in a fiction.
My mind at last finally comes to a conclusion,
That it’s all in my head as I become disillusioned,
Artistic abilities are not of my strongest qualities,
So I will just stick to writing for my friends and families.

Paint me the future,
Of a life without fear,
where my life has meaning as old age draws near.
Paint me the future,
With a different story and plot,
As I visualize my life with a clear snapshot,
As I visualize my life…
Paint me the future,
As I visualize my life.

Imagine

Try to imagine a different kind of world
A different kind of world that is not real
Imagine the both of us and in a world of our own
A world of our own that is incomplete
Can't you see that we can be a part of each other
What is so different that you can't see...in me

What is it?
Do I have a harsh life that you can't ever keep up
Can't you tell me what's the problem?
My world is full of make believe stories
Always ending with the prince being with the princess
All you see is just past that

Is it me or you?
What do you have to say?
I can't deal with what mess you go through
That's why we can't go on any longer
This feels such like a game
I don't play any games

I'm not a puppet and you'll never be my puppet master
My world can only see that you're so much less for me
So I can only let you float into the clouds
Never to remember you as the man I loved
To have the time to enjoy
Make me feel so much happy and free

As we would walk along the clear blue sea shores
We'd pick up shells and look up at the stars at night
The stars were our favorite
Don't you remember when it was midnight...
We would cherish and make our world into a dream
By feeling the pain that we had with each other

The moon, the stars and the rain...
Were very compassionate and will always be desirable
Our life was made up of feelings and other things
While we smiled out at each other and made our love more equally pure
The destiny that could never be broken
The love that made me want to do anything in the world to protect you as mine

The moisten in our life was very vague
It made me feel alive
But this is how we need to close our book of love

Our Obligation To Seek the Truth

When you find the truth it cannot be broken
belonging to the sacred word it remains unspoken
as mind and body attach to it and become as one
recognize then your journey ahead will have begun

Reason and logic to one another they belong
necessarily maintaining distance from the norm
truth will forever be that one guiding light
subduing everything false under its might

If the truth is what you seek, you must first prepare
challenges you will face, and dangers to beware
if you resign yourself to accept that which is right
know for your very life, for this alone do you fight

With the existence of evil in this world, have we been surrounded
yet, our ability to choose good over evil, is a truth well founded
the power to achieve our internal peace, lies in our very hands
no escaping this obligation, to pursue truth is what He commands

A person's true essence, is only his soul from within
his body must remain, after sullied from a lifetime of sin
before us are many paths in this world, good, bad, life and death
our goals are the same, to choose life before that final breath

As our souls begin to soar, many awaiting our heavenly trial
taken from us now, freewill to change that lifetime of denial
this light of truth while alive, we still could have acquired
what remains for us to correct, now that we have expired

What words can be said, and what tears will be left to shed
having lived that life, sadly, so void of truth, as one dead
last opportunities do not squander, eternal life is within reach
but first you have to be willing to change, to your heart beseech

Tales About Them

each time when some stories
are told I cringe
and swallow a lump of bitterness
and will my tear duct to stay intact
because I will never break
in the presence of anyone
I'd rather shut my eyelids
and start counting backwards
from 10
She loves me, I know that
but tough love can only stretch
this far and sometimes
when u least want
your heart will melt
its walls will wilt releasing
molten warmth that will wash over
your tear stains and feed the demons
in your stomach
Love knows not only fear
but weakness, charisma and a wicked
sense of humor
and strength that will envelope
you further down the rabbit hole
that may possibly swallow
and spit you to a shore
where the sand is shiny and glassy
it cuts your heels until you bleed
and come to a stop
where death will find you
or you could just hand over
your life to Satan
just to not feel anymore pain
for a second, to silence
the screaming voices in your head
that tells you hell isn't quite
done burning you
and to quiet down the cries
of your tongue as it dries and
stick to your throat until you suffocate
this life isn't yours to take
or trade or give away
its for you to give, to know and
not even understand because if you did
then you would never feel pain
and you will always smile
even when the storms rips you off
of all you have
so right now this is me reaching out
hold on to my hand and be granted
one more good reason to stay
a bit of warmth and a glance of love
one day we will both stand before God
and recite this story

A Shadow In the Corner Part Three

A life after death where we make our own paradise rather than some sterile heaven
that is bottle fed to the masses from a priest. Father…let me die now…so that I may
truly live.”With that, she lay back against me, her throat exposed to me once more.
When I bit into her throat again, she moaned as a satisfied lover might, feeling
arousal as I took her life. At the last moment, I whispered to her “Kiss me childe…
kiss your father”. I then bit into my lip hard, and pulled her mouth to my own. My
blood flowed into her mouth, and she soon was nursing at my lip as a newborn
nurses at its mothers breast. My life was filling the almost empty vessel that was
her earthly body. She stepped free of her mortal body then, dropping it on the floor
as one would a soiled garment. We walked together into the moonlight, and
waltzed together to the eternal music of the naked stars. Her body was found the
next day. The doctor said that the cause of her death was severe anemia, and
her “parents” reported that she had also suffered from depression. Their life went
on, as it is known that teens sometimes do die. Perhaps it was an eating disorder,
or drugs that stole their daughter from them. The truth be known though, their
daughter wasn’t stolen, but had been given away many years before.

And she waltzed through the eternal darkness with her true father ever after.

That Secret Place

Jesus Christ is my only Peace.
It is through Him my thoughts find rest.
When death or darkness show its face,
I take my soul to that secret place.
While hiding in the love of God,
I find my way to faith from above.
That is where my sorrows melt.
His love breaks through the darkest day.
When friendships tug on my heartstrings,
When money finds an empty bin,
When hope sinks down to deep despair,
I pray to God…
He is always there.
When rambling thoughts race through my brain,
When life is void of joys sweet flame,
I ask my Lord to keep me safe.
My soul can feel His strong embrace.
No matter what earth life may bring,
My God takes care of everything.
And when I feel like a silly flake,
Or ask the Lord, my soul to take,
I find great strength from God above:
To carry on with agape…love,
To help a neighbor when life is sad,
Or ease some hunger, sharing bread.
All of nature is a special gift.
Made for man in his web of life.
Greater still is the gift from God.
The sacrifice that was made for love…
Jesus Christ, Father’s only begotten
I accept salvation; God forgiving sin.
Through Him mankind has learned good ways.
Now, joy from heaven shines each day.
Amen

I Gotta Getaway

I gotta getaway from Baltimore I got too many bad memories
and truthfully I don't care who's gonna miss me
Lord forgive me but I just love my
lil brother a couple homeboys, & my best friend
and because of that I want my life to end
I gotta getaway I'm dealing wit some emotional sorrow
so I'm living for the moment, forget tomorrow
it seems to me I just wanna erase my past
cause unfortunately someone to love me
is one thing I never thought I had
I'm leaving and nobody is gonna stop me from doing so
why call ya peoples family if they make you feel so low
I'd be better off on death row because
at least I'd be going home
I guess I'm leaving cause I need time alone
I gotta leave for the fact I'm experiencing too much pain
after what I just went threw my life won't ever be the same
my mental mind frame is so messed up
that me just thinking bout it is having me ready to erupt
you can sympathize all you want but you can't feel what I feel
I was so loyal to these niggas I was always ready to kill
I don't know where this journey will lead
just know all I ever wanted out of life was to be free

The Kaliedoscope

No great structures, no crusades over mountains,
No wounds felled or tales of being unbeaten.
All around me is a lively choir of colours and images
Merging beautifully, all the visages and the mirages.

In this fragmented world, I search for the kaliedoscope,
To string together a bit of beauty, truth, love and hope.
     More smiles, less tears...
     More silence, less fears.

I did not visit all the temples,
Could not always pray properly.
At times I had to say no to friends,
But then I had the best intentions.

Heaven or hell, I know not, nor do I care,
A life is a life, mine or theirs.
There are differences, but they are the surface,
Deep inside, its less of you and I, more of us.

Glittering droplets of the early morning dew,
The sun is the same, reflected every day anew.
The drops vanish, life goes on
In borrowed wisdom, the poet sings his life's song.
