The stars have descended a little lower, to keep us —
My kinsmen and I —company on this night watch
On a newly roused African night.
We filch a little bit of the effulgence of the waking moon,
Reluctant, with the invasion of jealous clouds, their plumes
Fragile with inconsistency.
We rely on the luminescence of each other’s eyes and the trust
In our hearts
Tinder, broken by flying flickers of fireflies,
Shine through the breath of darkness, dis-virgining the chunky yolk
Of secrets and the clout of night, so corvine.
Every breath keeps us warm and frightens the monsters lurking
Around the lean corridors of the enchanted thresholds.
The heavens stare downward —witnesses to a stifling explosion of
Will; so are the crepitating crickets and cicadas —in prayers they
Egg us on, and through borrowed liturgy of nocturnal canticles.
The heartbeats in us make silenced music —loud only by the essence of
Gaiety and humming drums lightly tapped by ancestral fingers,
Helping to warm our hearts and will in the face of the severest darkness
Made lighter by the glows of slow-running lights — the broad painting of
Dawn.
Light is sweet and good for the eyes to see the brightness of the Sun,
For if someone lives a thousand years, may they rejoice in all of them.
But let us remember, for a thousand years in the sight of the LORD are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a night watch in the night time and that the days of darkness are many and everything comes to vanity.
Rejoice, O you young one, in your youth, and in your early years may your hearts do you good, walk in the path of your heart and the desire of your eyes;
But know that in all these things God will bring you into judgment, that you may remove the anger from your heart, so that distress may leave all your parts.
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come and the years arrive when you say, "I have no pleasure in them"; before the sun, light, moon, and stars are darkened, and the clouds leave after the rain; in the day when those watching the house tremble, and the strong one are bent over; when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through windows have dimmed eyes, and the doors on the street are shut, and the sound of grinding is low, and one rises up at the sound of birds, and all the daughters of song are brought low, when they are frightened of heights, even the terrors along the way, and desire fails, because you may go to your eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets.
So remember your Creator before the cord of silver is snapped, or the jar by the
spring is broken or the wheel at the cistern crushed.
The dust returns to the earth where it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Remember who you are and who's you are in your youth before it all becomes vanity in your sight.
search for oddities
into space and time we squeeze
eons can be seen
through highly polished mirrors
on bitter cold night so clear
'The Accident' morphs
dim mysterious brown dwarf
skimming stellar turf
leaving possibilities
constitutes dark energies
lustrous Milky Way
is where we reside today
facing come what may
dusty gas, huge black holes hide
where galactic center glides
interstellar bliss
where supernovas exist
fireworks not to miss
proves the cosmos are alive
eternity will survive
for the non-earth bound
cosmic microwave background
has now hung around
over fourteen billion years
since Great Expansion appeared
sky watching sessions
cosmic history lessons
answering questions
when the universe was born
how our galaxy was formed
sitting in the dark
with conditions often stark
tracing heaven's arc
watching the vast cosmos flow
where true dreamers choose to go
The gunman secures by his concealed identity
shrouded in mystery, shadows lurking out of sight
kills, by order, greed, and convenience.
With blood-stained conscious
Our land Sliding into anarchy, becoming a boiling cauldron
But where is the unknown gunman from?
Every time he showed up spending noisy hours,
he left unscathed perhaps the cries of the victims
couldn’t rouse the night watch men from their slumber,
honestly, they must have been tired.
After all our leaders only condemn such act
and as good citizens we weren’t expecting more.
Our leaders tiptoe and mewed
oh, the fear is potent. it’s a cold war but who’s after us?
Here, crimes can be control except that of the unknown gunmen
Amid the deep smoke from his firearm
Many lives brought to their unexpected end,
Maybe these gunmen are not truly unknown.
Since the impart of the state are rarely felt
the government remain unknown by most citizens
probably they’re all unknown,
the decimation of the night watch men is a flight into anarchy,
once violence is allowed to sit,
it cannot be ordered to leave.
while officials rehash old press releases
with misguided rhetoric, daily doses of media reports
on activities of the unknown gunmen are relentless.
With many federating units like the polygamous home of an African king,
justice, equity, and fair play should be central place
only then can we raise and dust ourselves to face the future which is now.
You need to go far, farther, even farther
Over small streams and tracks
The moon is distant, but can be glimpsed through the trees
A moose lifts his head, a beautiful antlers
King of the forest
Can smell the forest and wildlife
The fox howling at the moon
Echoes in the woods
Two yellow glowing eyes
It is the owl which are on the night watch
Hope that all mice are safely home
The moon disappears behind the clouds
Darkness falls, deep into the forest

*TODAY TO YOU*
To those who agree to lay their lives for the sake of the living
To those that battle death to live
To those that smile to us in the open but pray in the night to see the next day.
To those that love their families but have to stand at the gate to ward off the enemies.
To those that show love by mounting boarders far away.
To this that hide under the green leaves to bring down the evil
To those that pull the trigger to save lives
To the night watch that make us sleep sound
To those whose sleepless nights give us hope of another day as a free man
To you whose tears are blurred by the thick threes
To those silenced to keep our voices alive
To those on the queue to lay their lives for us
To you, you and you
To you we pray you live for us that we may live.

*FM CONCEPTUAL ???*
"On the rocks?", the bartender called,
As I asked for a double Scotch,
To revive my spirits keel-hauled.
By my sleepy shift on night-watch.
On the rocks the liquid gold poured
Making the cold hard ice cubes clink.
Drowner of sorrows, now on board,
Dismay was dragged back from the brink.
On the rocks the ship did flounder
With no stormy tempest in sight,
With watch asleep, the rocks found her,
Not at night, but in broad daylight.
On the rocks now, the storms will rage,
Mercilessly blasting their might,
Building seas, to roaring rampage,
Defying quaffs to set things right.
On the rocks, becalmed distraction
Leaves sails flapping, wanting a breeze
Postponing the need for action,
To get relief and be at ease.
On the rocks, cold as cubes of ice,
Enticing Scotch will not suffice.
Ere the morning dew rises through
stems of sleepy flowers
Peter Sellers mounts his comely steed
heads for the red and white tower
Relief for the night watch he provides
all these years, where no one’s died
or even been injured in the slightest
Tonight though Peter has a premonition
Clouds are circling, winds howling
Birds twitter in mass confusion
The sky crackles ~ truth or illusion
He hearkens back to Ancient Rome
when Ides of March
upended the great Caesar
Would those of August today eliminate him?
Sellers sallied forth, insecurely secured in the saddle
when his steed suddenly bolted
far into the woods where he could be free
from the tyranny of waiting for a ship to drown
since 1963
I heard you in the night watch
and You said to me,
"My redeemed and precious one
what is it you see ?"
I remember how you said
that You died for me,
how in Your Word I've read,
Your death makes me free.
"My son, do you believe this,
that from death I rose ?
Yet this truth so many miss-
in their lives it shows."
Lord, this truth I sadly see,
it is as You say.
Many lives to make free,
only You are the Way.
"Why is it you see this,
my redeemed, my son ?"
That to You, their Redeemer
their hearts would be won.
Lord, this is what I'll yet see
before my days are done:
Your Kingdom Life advancing
in Your daughters and sons.
"Son, this is what does attract:
the life you live in Me.
Though satan will still attack,
You live to set them free."
