Pearley Kirkland

1901-1914

Riding double one day

In musty Sycamore Canyon

With Dewey Hicks on “Belle,”

His old cranky mare,

We watched the stubborn ascension

Of the sultry sun,

Through the cloak of sycamores and willows there,

And transmitted from his mouth

To my naive ears,

I heard the wisdom of the ages!

Heard the voice of tenacious truth

And rigid reality.

He told me I was in need of a savior.

He told me of the Nazarene, magnificent;

The Alpha and the Omega, everlasting;

The Eternal Redeemer, superb;

He told me of the Rose of Sharon, sublime.

Dewey took my hand that day,

That warm and wonderful day,

And I accepted the spectacle at Golgotha,

Accepted the screaming cry of the Skull.

And then, with blustery April, my time arrived.

I died of influenza, with

Dewey reading the twenty third psalm.

When I breathed one last time,

I closed my burning eyes, and

Saw the Rose of Sharon, sublime.

Premium Member Power of God’s Love

Love of God makes me vibrantly alive midst His light
While my heart thanks His assured salvation with worshipful delight
Conquering hindrances due to sinful blight
As I walk on paths of truth and right…
Knowing “That God should love a sinner such as I
Should yearn to change my sorrow into bliss,
Nor rest till He had planned to bring me nigh
How wonderful is love like this!”*

Love of God upholds me triumphantly midst His commitment
Upon sanctification-purged prayer by His grace-bestowment
As I vanquish distractions due to selfish entanglement
For me to benefit from His blessings’ endowment…
Believing that “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene
And wonder how He could love me,
     A sinner, condemned, unclean
How marvelous, how wonderful is my Saviour’s love for me.”**

Love of God cheers me radiantly midst His victory
In offering my grateful praises against gloom and worry
To be a blessing to others, giving to Him all the glory
While reaching-out to others; sharing His Gospel story…
Claiming for His “Precious love, oh, wondrous love divine
Can it be this matchless love is mine?
Yes! Its power thrills me, and its glory fills me
Praise His name, I know His love is mine.”***

Love of God propels me jubilantly midst His guidance
Toward faithful stewardship along diligent work-performance
Despite struggles, trials and afflictions causing grievance
While I continue in His mercy that drives my perseverance…
Trusting the Lord Who cares for me when
“I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
     Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I
Love lifted me, when nothing else could help, love lifted me.****

Premium Member The Epiphany

Glorious Advent! Glorious morn!
Joy and gladness hath adorned
This momentous, spectacular, glorious scene
Of an infant born, of a Nazarene.

Beyond comprehension and fanciful schemes
Came the Gift of gifts, beneath starry beams.
Creation adorning this Child, it’s Creator.
Heaven and Earth, behold what a Savior!

Glorious night, Epiphany’s height!
Transcendent in beauty, of marvelous light.
Behold the glory the Father unfurled,
At the foot of a manger: the head of the world.

Many foretold and many had known,
Of a promised Messiah, a Kingdom, a throne.
A night of wonder, a night of grace
A night to see God in an infant’s face.

KING OF JEWS CRUCIFIED BY MARC ARCHIPPUS

                          Jerusalem Friday
Jesus(33) labelled by,Pilate, the Roman prefect as the 'King of the Jews'
 was crucified here this afternoon.
Crowds watched the execution, including the mother of Jesus, some relatives and his Nazarene followers. As this is the week is Passover ,his body had to be taken from the cross before tomorrow' s Shabat holy day.

After the body was taken for burial,I obtained an exclusive interview with Simon Peter(30),deputy leader of the Nazarene sect. This fisherman from Capernaum
said he had been with Jesus for the past three years. He disclosed these Nazarenes, from the northern province, who he describe as 'disciples',would be staying put in the city for a short time,to re-group and await further.revelations that would take their revolution to its next stage in Judea and elsewhere.

Other groups in Judea have made similar exaggerated claims to me in the past, all of which have come to nothing!

Return From Egypt

Return from Egypt
Matthew 2:19-23

After the Christ’s left for Egypt, where they avoided King Herod,
For five whole years, because in the fifth year Herod simply died,
Mary and Joseph arose, took the boy and his joinery wear, god,
To return finally in the land of Israel: Herod had in death, failed.

Here is Matthew 2:19-23. Matthew: “19 After King Herod died,
An angel from the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt [lex].
20 ‘Get up,’ the angel said, ‘and take the child and his mother [hi’d],
And go to the land of Israel. Those...trying to kill the child are dead’, [rex].

21 Joseph got up, took the child and his mother, and went to...Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus ruled over Judea [Joseph thought],
In place of his father Herod, Joseph was afraid to go there. [The rail].
Having been warned in a dream [ok], he went to the area of Galilee [ought].

23 He settled in a city called Nazareth so that what was spoken,
Through the prophets might be fulfilled: He will be called a Nazarene.”
So, that was Matthew 2:19-23, full text almost and not token:
Your understanding of the script is fine, it is true and alkaline.

Sigmund Freud theorised the ego, which depends upon ID, brink,
This is the id, and stated we are psychopaths to our identity cultural,
Where our super-ego can lurk. He said it is by libido that we think,
A sexualised energy towards death drive and a neurotic guilt banal.

Here, Joseph objected to King Archelaus, the son and heir of Herod,
Who valued Roman law and therefore this Murder of the Innocents,
This did not collate his mind. Blaize it seems, he contradicted the rod:
The angel’s whose thought was his speed, to instead Nazareth pence.

So, church some leaders today don’t imply angels, predestination,
But rather judge angels as suspicious: Catholics believe, Protestants mar.
With your wit do judge the mild baby as given digs from relation:
Taught intelligent, made sane, driven to writ and forgiven for tar - bar.

Dreams above visions state the problem too simply, paraphernalia,
Because it is using minds that humans have visions, possibly -
Our stress points cognate the brain to visualise a better land, trivia,
So Freud’s dreams are more personal, and talk community.

Premium Member Ask From the Heart

Jesus sees you on your knees,
ask Him, and He'll grant your pleas.
And send angels to your side
to dry the tears you've cried.

If you believe as you say
help will somehow come your way.
For if you ask, you'll receive,
He answers all who believe.

Jesus will not let you down,
every lost soul will get found.
And He'll heal your broken heart,
giving hope to a new start.

Jesus wept, consumed by grief,
testing His strength of belief.
But no greater love's been seen
than held by this Nazarene.

Ask the Father through the Son,
believe, and it will get done.
So, join your hands in prayer
and ask for His Devine care.

Premium Member Jesus

He was born in a shelter for animals,
Meant to keep off the wind and the rain;
For there was no room for them in the inn,
So it was here that they came.

His father did the best he could,
To see to His mother's comfort.
"Please God,' he prayed,'take care of her,
For she is no king's consort."

"I cannot give her all she needs,
And now her time draws nigh.
Please see Your Son into this world,
And watch them, lest she die."

So He was born in Bethlehem,
Jesus, The Nazarene;
And Joseph taught Him all he knew,
And He surpassed their dreams.

Wise beyond His years was He,
So thoughtful, good and kind.
Search if you will but you will see,
One like Him you won't find.

Here it was He spent His years,
And grew to be a man.
When it was time He left His home,
To teach and walk the land.

So much sickness, pain and sorrow,
Jesus saw and grieved.
He brought them out of the darkness,
And all their pain relieved.

He spoke to them of The Father.
Taught them what they must know.
He went where The Light was needed,
To places the priests would not go.

At first He was cheered, they received Him,
As one receives a great king,
And the priests were jealous and feared Him,
As to their old laws they clinged;

So when the fullness of time had come,
They brought Him before the courts,
And He was tried as a heretic,
And He suffered their jeers and retorts.

At length Jesus stood all by Himself.
Not one man stood beside Him.
His followers wept and were gripped with fear,
As they waited to see what betide Him.

Our Lord knew fear and lonliness,
And heartbreak cut like a knife;
But He was strong and withstood it all,
To end our personal strife;

For we'd been banished, cut off from God.
Our portion was certain death.
He was tortured, bled and died,
And forgave us with His last breath.

"Forgive them Father,' He cried aloud,
'They know not what they do."
And then He hung His head and died.
He died for me and you;

But that's not all my friend, Oh No,
He went into Hell that day,
To reclaim those who waited still,
And led them all away.

Then He returned to show us all,
He is The Father's Son,
Come to reclaim us as His Own,
And save us one by one.

He conquered Death, He conquered Hell,
He Is The Conquering King.
All Hail The Mighty Son Of God!
All Hail The King Of Kings!

644 Meditation on the 4th Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross

Meditation on the 4th Sorrowful Mystery:

The Carrying of the Cross

Crowned with thorns, Jesus was brought by Pilate before the crowd

(“Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” they shouted out loud)
They prevailed and He was handed down to them

(And off goes the Lord towards His mayhem)

This is the 4th Sorrowful Mystery – The Carrying of the Cross

The crowd watched Jesus carry His cross to Calvary

(Others were in grief, there were those who were happy)

This was the funeral procession of Jesus the Nazarene

(But there was this man who helped Him named Simon of Cyrene)

The fruit of this mystery – Patience

Oh God who had paraded Thy Son towards His demise

(Amidst different noises & varying cries)

The God whose death march was the perfect model

(Whose way to Calvary leads away from hell)

As “The Carrying of the Cross” had shown “Patience”

Lord God, like in “The Carrying of the Cross”, give us patience

(Amidst the crowd of chaos & malevolence)

Like Jesus Christ who carried His cross patiently

(We endure our tribulations with forbearance & humility)

Praise God! We realized “Patience” through the 4th Sorrowful Mystery.

Premium Member La Saeta

La Saeta

Dijo una voz popular:

“¿Quién me presta una escalera,
para subir al madero
para quitarle los clavos
a Jesús el Nazareno?”

¡Oh la saeta, el cantar
al Cristo de los gitanos,
siempre con sangre en las manos
siempre por desenclavar!
¡Cantar del pueblo andaluz
que todas las primaveras
anda pidiendo escaleras
para subir a la cruz!

¡Cantar de la tierra mía,
que echa flores
al Jesús de la agonía,
y es la fe de mis mayores!
¡Oh, no eres tú mi cantar!
¡No puedo cantar, ni quiero,
a ese Jesús del madero,
sino al que anduvo en el mar!

The Arrow

Said a popular voice:

“Who can lend me a ladder,
to climb the tree
to remove the nails
to Jesus the Nazarene?”

Oh, the arrow, the singing
to the Christ of the gypsies,
always with blood in the hands
always for taking nails off!
Song of the Andalusian people
that every spring
is asking for ladders
to climb up the cross!

Song of my land,
that throws flowers
to the Jesus of agony,
and it’s the faith of my elders!
Oh, you are not my song!
I can’t sing, nor do I want to,
to that Jesus on the wood,
but to the one who walked in the sea!

Written by: Antonio Machado

My poem will follow soon.

Said a popular voice

Is anyone worthy to remove the nails?
To climb that roughly hewn cross
To touch the bleeding feet and hands
Of Christ Jesus the lovely Galilean

Josephy of Arimathea ask permission
To take Jesus' broken body down
Nicodemus came bringing burial spices
For the body that was stripped bare

So, what Jesus did upon the cross
Can and should never be forgotten
I like to remember the miracles
Like when Jesus restored sight to the blind

His birth was one step when He came from Glory
His life following rules and tradition
Another step of telling the story
His ministry of parables and sermons

His healing of the sick and resurrection of friends
His death by hanging on the cross~the end
Praise to God! The empty tomb was witnessed
He lives again! He was seen carried away in the clouds
