The calls of the flocks to this years migration
a roving community of birds in each nation
rising and diving above mists in the rocks
the drawing together for birthing new flocks

The coo of the crane in a wetland bog
the bob of its head when its nabbed a frog
opened winged geese in passages soar
north back to south or a western shore

Above our earth the traversing vast miles
into the snowfall or cliffside defiles
a race upon water to lure this years mate
or share in the catch a dance woven like date

Such grace of movement their wings on the breeze
like rhythms beating to ascend above trees
how can one capture such beauty so grand
of a creatures decent upon sky upon land

Motion so elegant their journey's in sky
mankinds observations our own desire to fly
the form of their pinions upon outstreched wings
to follow freedom this kind of life dreams

Lowlands or Highlands the wild fowl domains
in deserts or plateaus aviary terrains
on pole ice or islands you'll find their rests
every year you'll find them their community nests

WTC Remember Temba

Lovingly lauded.. they marauded.. rightly applauded

Saffa gaffers did thrill

Willow wielding wizards of Oz

Yielding…lampooned..marooned..jaffas

Festooned spill just like Seville .

Must remember..the ember burning

Yearning of Temba Bavuma

Kept his sense of humour

Despite being the victim of flimsy whimsy

Many a nasty rumour

I implore you to ignore the tumour

That is Michael Vaughan…dim..grim

Pompous pig or obnoxious prig

Having a dig..more clickbait hate p**n

Unsung and hamstrung..stoic heroic

Temba has brung salvation for a nation

With no Cronje bung..

The only stifling snub

Hell bent pundits in pulpits scream

Not just trifling .. no defending the Saffa culprits

Blunder of sending a sub par side

Alright trite s**e team down under..

Only one man stood sentry…Aidan Markram..often ignored..

Even deplored…a national pastime…his crime

Not being as sublime as in his teenage prime

But such touch..much gumption & grit

Did his bit…hit a century

Sod the rest…now a cricketing god

Against the odds.. has always saved

His Test best for the Aussie conquest..

No longer a sinner…the match winner..

Only one other Saffa..biff Smith’s

Scored more second innings tons..

They did vanquish their perpetual anguish

Their hullabaloo..voodoo..ending

The choke complex.. the hex hoodoo..

No longer Bill Murray day of the groundhog

Finally went the way of the underdog..

So Aidan and Temba we will always remember when

You gave South African Cricket their own

Homegrown ticket to the 25th of December..

Has been glummer.. Gory…still got the bummer

Of no tests in their upcoming home summer

But this a story of glory

Not being woke…not about race

The colour of his face

In history Temba Bavuma with such grace

The best ever test run chase at Lords

Nabbed his place…as the bespoke bloke & ace

Who broke the finals choke & grabbed the golden mace..

The Antics of a Would Be Mamas Yoyo Thief

The Antics Of A Would Be Mama's Yoyo Thief
(now a penchant with less Zionist trenchant ululation to vent.)

Not a peep passed thru mine -
aye vaguely attest
what ten? eleven? twelve? age
of following anecdote at best
guest, but no
doubt yours truly
with figurative heart in chest
scared puny meek boy

tight lipped silently confessed
to foiled attempt, sans trying
unsuccessfully to steal a yoyo,
     inviting tummy prepubescent
unbuttoning, a substantially
sprawling Holy skype sizing breast
of mine upon be nabbed,
thus aye didst detest

foolish kid ploy, and
(prematurely nipping
in the bud) messed
up potential life of crime
with first and only
shoplifting heist jest
for getting caught no a pest
key yoyo, mama would

     (IF FOUND OUT)
axe me no quest
chin, but whack me itty bitty
teensy weensy derriere lest
quickly putting to rest
any Robin Hood
fantasy life of
high stakes crime pressed,

and squeezed out the noggin
with apropos punishment addressed
thankfully, neither parent
got wind, nor ever guessed
their beautiful darling
     boy did test
petty theft, never
matured nor didst crest

into a profitable "yoyo
string Ponzi like
     scheme," thus ballsiest
dare devilish and bitterest,
and laughably noble lest
act yours truly ever attempted
immediately ceased to shelve bravest
sleight of hand find

delve during broad est
daylight, I immediately
didst shelve, when clumsiest
initial foray into
the world wide web
tubby come cleverest
lad, this side of
     Lansdale, Pennsylvania

     many damnedest
yesterdays ago, never
took another earnest
tempting gamble since security
detail nearly wrest
head possible zapped feeblest Ames?

to pilfer from other
Department stores if pressed
for money no matter,
I might miss an enforced
hated ballet class,
     with abs salute zest!

Premium Member Curly and Moe

A tortoise-shell cat and a calico,
Walked to the riverfront way below.
One named Curly. The other named Moe.
Spaceship nabbed them with a curious glow.

Curly taught the aliens how to sew.
They went to a planet alive with snow.
Given a gorgeously furnished chateau,
And pastries made of the finest dough….

Did not worry about the world below.
Never had any more grass to mow.
Rode horse-like creatures, taught aliens “whoa!”
Life on this planet was a lively good show!

Both of these Earthlings truly did know,
This planet’s pulse had a marvelous flow.
Lightyear’s away, not a stone’s throw….
Never again saw Earth’s gentle doe.

Moe renamed himself Space Alien Joe.
Curly dreamed of seeing an Earth flower grow.
Biggest disappointment truly bad blow.
Never again read a word of Edgar Allan Poe.

To Bear Witness

To Bear Witness

To bear witness … and awaken the world … he’ll rise:
Helpless to halt routine horrors he’s seeing,
A scared, adolescent boy of slender size,
Nabbed and dehumanized solely for “being”,
Keeps records of the cruelty his captors devise.

Yesterday once stayed his tenacious tenant of time,
Occupying today in recurrent roles of reprise,
Until death voided its lease, evicting crisis from crime.

Exiled to sight and sound, languages always languish:
Lone words, limited mediums too dull and shallow,
Impaired all the expressions of their author’s anguish,
Except to press, “What shall humanity hold hallow?”

Woven together, his words threaded truths for which he fought,
Iterating a haunting testimony of torment.
Emancipated prose, sprung from his mind’s prison distraught,
Sew our human bond on basted seams of past and present:
Empathy must be a measure of our moral fitness
Lest we lose lessons taught by he who lived … to bear witness!

Premium Member Kilroy Was Here

There was an elusive little guy often espied during World War Two,
And who he was and whence he came no one ever really knew!
He was a bald headed little feller with a very prominent nose,
And he always left the message "Kilroy Was Here" in very stilted prose!

You seldom saw his eyes and his hands were clinging to a wall.
Many G.I.s saw him in latrine stalls and in their greasy dining hall!
His origin and parting message are debated to this very day,
And no one has ever nabbed the graffiti artists who always slunk away!

He was portrayed in cruisers, battleships and even on submarines!
Kilroy's portrait was tattooed on the chests of a few diehard Marines!
'Tis said Hitler saw "Kilroy Was Here" and wondered what it meant,
Thinking it a secret code when found on American accouterment!

Kilroy became as famous as the mysterious smile on the Mona Lisa.
(I even saw his mug when I climbed to the top of the Tower of Pisa!)
Rosie the Riveter may have been guilty, if the truth were told,
Of tracing Kilroy's image on bombers, including the bomb bay hold!

Well, 'tis for sure we couldn't have won the war without the little guy!
Kilroy's antics lifted morale at home and overseas, that you can't deny!
But you haven't seen the last of him, for he is forever etched in history,
On the World War Two Monument in DC - how he got there is a mystery!

Farewell to 2024

An American perspective on domestic and world events, in no particular order

SCOTUS rules that Trump’s immune
China flies the spy balloon
Starship booster landing glee
J. Assange is walking free

Bergdorf, Neiman join Saks
Our Secret Service sucks
Russia swaps her jailed spies
Alexei Navalny dies

Mitch McConnell’s stepping down
“Boris” causes Europe drown
Biden cancels loan debt
Hunter’s pardoned by his dad

Hezbollah - beheaded snake
East Coast’s shaken by the quake
Eagle Pass – still open path
Gaza tastes Israeli wrath

North of 40 goes Dow Jones
Loses fight one Alex Jones
French Olympics is a dud
Milton, Helen’s awful flood

Bitcoin’s rising through the roof
“Donald Trump is bullet-proof”
MSNBC for sale
Diddy Combs in Brooklyn’s jail

Donald wins and Harris not
Brian T. assassins’ plot
Bankman-Fried, the largest fraud
“AI” reach is getting broad

Pavel Durov nabbed in France
But illegals push, advance
Mid-East war still rages on
“Year of Snake” is almost born

TikTok may not be around
Syria has fallen down
Anti-Semites flowing crud
Israel keeps oozing blood

Taylor Swift, the billionaire
Art, banana, millionaire
Gone Red Lobster, Tupperware
Weapons for Ukraine affair

Prada sews the spacewalk suit
DOJ quits Trump’s pursuit
Spirit Air takes nose dive
Elon Mask in overdrive

Iran rockets come like rain
Hostages remain in pain
No DC resolve, it’s air
Beirut pagers need repair

Russia crumbles from within
Lower price on gasoline
“Brat”, the word of current year
Now, to ones we once revere

Gone for good, but left imprint
Culture, sport, each own footprint
Lou Carnesecca, Dr. Ruth
Wheel of Fortune Chuck, sad truth

Quincy Jones – culture brass
James Jones - Darth Vader bass
Newhart Bob, satire most
One Phil Donahue, the host

Famous Amos, Maggie Smith,
Richard Simmons, workout wiz
Global flier Dick Rutan
Gossett Lou, of actors’ clan

Matthew Perry, Terry Garr
O.J. Simpson football star
Willie Mays of baseball fame
Y. Sinwar, mankind’s shame

Year’s drawing to a close
Parties, cheer and best clothes
Time for thought and time for fun
Merry Xmas, everyone!

Premium Member My Best Vacation Ever

We set sail as Reggae music played out on the Lido.
Our first night was casual; no need for tuxedo.
We could eat a pizza by the Windows On the Sea
or go beneath and dine on shrimp and meet the maitre d’

We could gamble, see a show, or just gaze at the ocean,
then in bed, relax the head and sense the soothing motion.
We woke up in Freeport where the ship would dock all day.
Folks could disembark, take tours, or on the ship just stay.

On board were people lounging or dancing to Calypso,
working out or shopping or even playing Bingo.
All day long you could find folks doing funny things
like contests for the men with hairy chests or knobby knees.

Day Two when we awoke, we were then in Nassau.
There was stuff for everyone, from your kiddies to your grandma!
Little ones could stay behind. The staff would entertain them,
or the kids could tag along with mom and dad. No problem!

Those who liked adventure could visit Blue Lagoon.
For snorkeling with sting rays, the boat left right at noon.
I got to pet a dolphin, but extra had to pay
to swim with one! That was sure an extra special day.

In town I got nabbed quickly by a plaza beautician.
Getting braids was all the rage, so people got their hair done.
We went to the gangway before the ship set sail.
Those not having fun by then were deader than a door nail.

“Day at Sea” arrived as the trip was winding down,
and the biggest night was coming; women wore a gown.
That final evening getting all dolled up to dine was when
I wished instead of ending, the trip would start again!

Gals and guys with braided hair; everyone looked nice.
Ah, the midnight feast with pretty sculptures carved in ice.
The ultimate for having fun unless you were just snoozing,
in the laid-back natives’ lingo, I say “Mon,” I sure loved that cruising.

(may not be following precise time line, but this was before year 2000 that I took my one and only cruise, so I'm a bit fuzzy on precise day by day details. it was a Carnival cruise only 3 to 4 days in Bahamas and back to Florida)

Carmel by the Sea

Three-quarter distance to the city
the rose bowl parade's held,
paying a friend another visit
as if the golden gate is not
um, not after umpteen years.

she does a lot of shopping
touchy-feely, whatchamacallit
reveals the wherewithal that
we're still friends

an artisans treasure
trove, this cubby-hole of
Clint Eastwood's hideaway
from the city of the stars
to the city by the bay

an assortment of
artisan works sprawled out
crafted pieces tiny and
large all over the store

some chimerical or
a closer look or, white
elephants and then those
"I'll take it, how much!"

'twas, a closer look that
nabbed us of a Cedar Point
thingamajig, 'twas a metallic
tree attached to a rock

she picked the one on top
of this here tiered glass shelf
'tis the makeup of the store
with signs, "Do not touch and
do not hold, once you break
it, we mark it sold!"

while holding the metallic tree,
it separated from the rock,
which crashed through the top
tiered glass shelf center,
creating a v-shaped of the tiered
glass shelves beneath, causing
the entire display of all the metallic
trees and rocks crashing down
in front of her shoes as I stepped
back as an instantaneous response
that overwhelmed me.

a schoolmarm persona sorta
stood like posing for a photo
methinks she froze up, and while
standing bestilled, I cannot stop
myself from laughing, so I
paid the $400.

in 1980 prices, at least I didn't
walk home, 'twas years of a
point remembered till we parted,
and that occasioned me, the best
investment I ever made!

A swarm of herring gulls amassed
Nexus Nautilus nabbed by zealous winds,
whitening the black soil
we hold spears in our hands.
blood-stained thorns on the side
sullen squawks a skirmishing sporophyte,
dubious, grayish rumors must be buried
drave in a drizzle, drape to deities.

Installation of sentry fences
Sisyphean stones
anchor down using seal and string
flaws in the swings used by blacksmiths
Unborn burning bullion bludgeon
Savage sunless swords embryonic
Edgeless, with no reflections.

Each peak over the Edenic Steppes is sprayed,
using torn paper candles as bait
climbing scaffolds with lumber rungs
pounding of leather-heavy boots
darkened, grimacing features
Flocks failing feathers or flight.

Our hold slips on windswept
Windswept updrafts carry us away
as offspring of the royal family.
